Was in town visiting family and this place was recommended by some local friends, so we decided to try it out.... just something different for a change, especially since we'd never tried authentic Turkish food before. Upon entering, my first impressions were that that place looked quite nice. A bit dated, but clean, cozy, warm, and casual. We showed up at about 6pm and the place was very quite, but in short time, the place became packed, and fit good reason.... the food was prepared and presented wonderfully, was absolutely delicious, and the service was incredibly friendly, polite, helpful, and attentive... despite it being very busy. Being rather unfamiliar with Turkish food, we had a very nice and helpful chat with our server who made some great recommendations. We ended up ordering Mixed Grill Family Plate for 2, which came with a good variety of skewered meats like Beef Shish, Chicken Shish, Chicken Adana Kebab, Adana Kebab, Kofte Kebab, Doner, all served with house salad, Bulgur Rice, White Rice, Grilled Pepper and Tomato. In addition, we ordered the Lamb Chops, a Cucumber Salad, the Lahmacun.... best described as a Turkish pizza, Red Lentil Soup, and to top it all off, the Kunefe dessert. The word WOW! pretty much sums up the quality, flavors, and presentation of the dishes. Nothing was too salty at all... like I've often found with many similar such dishes found elsewhere..... just great flavors all around, witty tender, juicy, and perfectly marinated meats, and served, hot, fresh, and very well presented. As for that Kunefe dessert... a traditional Turkish dessert made with angel hair pastry, sugar, cheese, and pistachios.... Yummeee! ....now that was something different indeed. I'm not typically a sweet tooth kind of person, but I just wanted to taste just a bit of it. So unique and had very nice textures, unique flavors, and big time sweetness to it...ok, I'll admit it was VERY sweet, and I'll likely not order it again... not because it wasn't good...it was very good! ...just too sweet for me. But if you're into sweet desserts, I'm sure you'll love this dessert. Now that we have a better idea of what Turkish food tastes like, and my family was thoroughly impressed by the food quality and service, we're definitely coming back here again, for sure. read more

Extremely hospitable, so far I have yet to order something I didn't like. It's kind of out of the way and far but totally worth it. But hands down my favorite dish of all time is Beyti. Think of it like a Turkish equivalent of an enchilada. If I can make it during lunch GREAT. But the dinner prices are pretty normal for Turkish restaurants, but I will usually order for the table so we can all try a little. Beef shish kebab, chicken shish kebab, beef adana kebab (ground), chicken adana kebab (ground), kofte (ground meat patties) kebab, and doner (thin sliced meat)... served with bulgar and rice and some grilled veggies and pickled cabbage. The doner was a bit on the dry side, but all the other meats were so good, tender and flavorful. Enough food for 3 people to share. * Lamb Chops -- Really good for lamb lovers. Cooked to order. Perfectly grilled, tender, flavorful and not at all gamey (likely good quality imported lamb). * Kunefe Dessert -- Angel hair like pastry with melty cheese and syrup. Baked fresh and served in a skillet. Really good, but maybe better if they served the syrup on the side and we control the amount of syrup ourselves. Nasrin our server was great. Service overall was very friendly and attentive, and prices are very reasonable for the quality of food. Unfortunately no beer, wine or alcoholic beverages available. Anyways tried this place for the first time, great ambiance and nice staff. now for the food, we ordered Iskandar Kabab, Soujouk Pide, Mix Grill Platter, and Lentil Soup. first off the Iskendar was great, just love the combination of Doner, tomato sauce, Pita and with melted butter. next you can't go wrong with pide especially with Soujouk on it. we also enjoyed the mix grill platter great portion size and variety of items. This restaurant has food that is absolutely incredible. I've been to several Mediterranean style eateries but only my second experience of one with a Turkish influence. Ayintap Mediterranean Grill is located in a fairly busy shopping center which could use a little updating. However, it's home to must-do dining. We ordered a few dishes to share and was impressed with the quantity of amazing food we received. Their Red Lentil Soup is gluten and dairy free and very likely the best you've ever eaten. This was followed by a "small" Green Salad that can easily feeds two. Equally delicious and impressive is the Mixed Grill which should be shared unless you are really hungry with the stomach capacity to match. Hidden Gem - Fantastic Turkish Food! Hands down one of the best Turkish restaurants I've been to! I almost feel bad that their location is a bit tucked away because more people need to know about this place--it's that good. We started with the lebni, and it was excellent--fresh, creamy, with just the right touch of mint. A perfect start. For the main, I had the Mixed Grill for One, and as a huge fan of protein-heavy dishes, this hit the spot. Each type of meat was seasoned with its own unique blend of spices, and everything was grilled to perfection. The ambiance was also a standout. This place is VERY hit and miss. I've come here before and it was fantastic. But I've come other times and it's average to downright terrible. The time it was fantastic, we had İskender, Beytı, and Yogurt Kebab (similar to İskender but with Adana instead of Döner). All were beyond expectations and delicious. But then we came another time and got the same dishes and for some reason the yogurt was dry and clumpy. I get that their yogurt is home made so it'll never be the same every time, but yogurt should at least be smooth and not chunky. Also, if you want extra yogurt, they will charge you like $5 for it. They also have a very bad problem with little black flies. We're in humid Southeast Texas and flies from outside are difficult to keep out for any restaurant. But these little black flies are breeding indoors and need to be taken care of. They need to check their food storage and drains. I spend literally half my time waving away flies. The food has been fantastic --like literally amazing-- on some visits, so I know they have the potential to be great. I hope they take care of these problems. read more

We are very very disappointed with this place. We are a customer that goes there once a week. Today they didn't accept any customers because the tables were all full. I have requested to sit outside at their empty table but they said that the kitchen doesn't take any additional orders. We requested to speak to the Manager, but they didn't even come to speak to us and said that they should just leave. Seems that they have enough customers and are not looking for additional Business. We drove an hour to make it to this place so we had to leave and look for another place to eat. So think twice before you go, expect the unexpected!! read more

I start with a greeting to all with Selâmün aleyküm, To others I say Merhaba nasilsin? I'm in complete shock and awe at the amazing customer service, the level of care and detail in explaining a menu. Honestly I did not walk into this place with high expectations but I was literally blown away. I'm not trying to hype this place up, but it has been hard to find authentic Turkish food that is why you must continue to read on and explore the pictures. The menu is pretty extensive and I almost missed a middle section of it if it wasn't for my friend telling me about the flat bread pizzas. I was like what are you talking about. Well I only had the menu opened up half way so I completely missed the warm appetizers and flat bread pizza options that had. We opted to start with the cigara borek which is basically the Filla dough wrapped deep fried cheese sticks. They come in a 5 piece serving enough for a party of five. We added on the cheese and sujuk (turkish sausage) flat bread pizza to our appetizer list. Although it takes ten minutes to prepare it, we'll worth it. This was a great way to start and by the way they serve some fresh sesame topped bread with zaatar (thyme) mixed with olive oil dip. On to the main meal. We all had amazing dishes so I'm going to highlight mine first. I got the Adana kebab which is simply some of the best seasoned and tasting kebob I have had in the big H. Some other recommendations are going to be the beyti, iskinder, and yogurt kabab. I just basically took you through the best dishes on this menu. I can explain them in a simpler term Mouth watering head rush. So the there is complimentary black Turkish tea that is served at the end of the meal but I actually started off with a glass just because I love Turkish tea. While I wish they had sugar cubes I could toss in my mouth while I sip tea they only had the bottle of sugar that you can pour into your tea cup. As I mixed the sugar in the tea cup I thought of the hypnotic sound made in the movie "Get Out". I sunk deeper into my chair. I ordered rice pudding and helwa which is a term for a sweet dish. I would have to say I enjoyed both and would recommend they bring out the tea with the dessert so you can enjoy it with the hot tea. Well there you have it...hands down the best Turkish restaurant I have ever had in Houston.
