Hugh, Mike and team corrected the slope of my side yard, adding compacted soil and new gravel to correct the drainage. They filled in a low spot caused by tree growth in the back yard. Most complicated was a paver patio that had subsided in crazy ways. The back stoop had tilted away from the house and was funneling water into a void right against the foundation. The other companies I contacted fell into four categories: bid a complicated solution at double the price; submitted a two-sentence bid with zero detail; took one look and turned down the work; or ghosted me entirely. What sold me on Grade A was how well they explained what I needed and listened to my concerns. Instead of a buried French drain, they recommended surface solutions (grading, correctly aimed downspouts, splash blocks and gutter guards) so in the coming years, we can verify they're still carrying water away from the house as designed. Grade A bid a fair price, showed up on schedule, communicated every day about progress and field changes, and went out of their way to create a solution that solves the problem -- and find the right materials that let us reuse the existing pavers. I knew in advance the price was subject to change depending on what they found under the stoop. What they found was actually a nightmare but the price adjustment was lower than I expected. Bottom line: drainage problems fixed, yard and patio look great. The crew was friendly, courteous and hard-working. Highly recommend.

The update was never absurd and made it so we focused on the job not haggling or worrying. - Grade A was one of the few companies I worked with where the owner seemed connected to all the employees. Hugh introduced them all, seemed to look out for them and acted like a team. They were all really cool in return. All in all for the job well done, ease of working with and great business practices I think working with Grade A is an easy decision and I've already recommended them to some neighbors.

A call before my appointment would have been appreciated! I replied to the email saying I would be looking for sprinkler services elsewhere, and I received a very condescending email from the owner. The work was fine but...they charged an hour travel time to our property and extra again because their crew took an hour and a half lunch because their truck battery was dead and needed a jump. We'd already charged it once while the crew was at our property. Before the crew was done, we noticed that a window on our RV was shattered, apparently due to a rock that was thrown during trimming. Accidents happen and the owner sent an email saying they would pay for the window. The owner apparently changed his mind and wanted the claim to go through his insurance. Ok. Two weeks later we are still waiting for an insurance approval or denial and a late charge was added to the bill for the mowing.
