So there we were, headed to Castles N' Coasters a wholesome amusement park in the desert... a place for families, laughter, and apparently, poor decision-making. Now my buddy this man reaches into his pocket and pulls out what I can only describe as a historical artifact. I'm talking a doobie so big it looked like Bob Marley himself rolled it during a greatest hits tour. I said, "Absolutely not. I am a grown man. I got responsibilities. I got a mortgage. I got snacks at home I haven't even finished yet." That didn't matter. Next thing I know, windows are up, car turns into a Dutch oven of bad decisions, and now I'm just along for the ride literally and spiritually. Somewhere between "this is a bad idea" and "why is everything funny," I lost control of the evening. We pull into the park around that magical time you know, that in-between hour... not quite day, not quite night... like God dimmed the lights and said, "Alright boys, let's see what happens." The whole place is glowing neon lights, arcade buzz, roller coasters rattling in the distance. Felt like walking into a carnival dream... or maybe a fever dream. Jury's still out. Now here's the thing about this place it's been around since the late '70s, sitting right there in Phoenix like a desert time capsule of fun. You got four roller coasters, including the Desert Storm, which sounds fun until you're on it reconsidering every life choice that led you there. Then there's the Patriot wooden, loud, and about as gentle as a bar fight. And somehow... SOMEHOW... we thought tequila beforehand was a good idea. So now we're buzzed, slightly baked against our will, and wandering this park like three philosophers who lost their notes. We're laughing at everything. Nothing's funny but everything's hilarious. A trash can? Comedy gold. A churro? Best thing I've ever eaten in my life. A child running past me? I'm emotionally invested in his journey. But I'll give credit where it's due the park itself? Clean. Staff's friendly. Nobody's judging three grown men giggling like idiots. It's got that old-school charm too arcades, mini golf, rides, the whole deal. You can bring a family here... or whatever version of a situation we were. Now the rides... oh, the rides. Let me tell you something nothing will make you rediscover fear like being slightly out of your mind on a roller coaster you thought you could handle. I got scared... not once... not twice... but a few times. The kind of scared where you start making promises to God you don't intend to keep. "I'll be a better man if I survive this drop..." Didn't mean a word of it. By the end of the night, we had the munchies, the laughs, and just enough dignity left to get back to the car without needing a group meeting. For a couple hours, though? We were kids again. No responsibilities. No stress. Just lights, noise, and pure, ridiculous fun. So yeah Castles N' Coasters might be a family amusement park... but under the right or completely wrong circumstances, it turns into one hell of a story. Would I recommend it? Absolutely. Just... maybe crack a window on the way there. read more

Castles-N-Coasters has always been a total vibe in Phoenix. My only concern with this place is that the employees do not seem to care if people are buckled in or not. So I'm always very careful when I come with my kids, especially on the bigger posters. None of the rides are super dangerous, but I would hate for somebody to fall out! So thankful that it's still there and has survived all of the businesses closing around it. Will definitely be back. read more

My husband and I came here for a quick date night. It was a Friday night around 5pm and it wasn't very busy. We came during Christmas time and it was decorated with lots of Christmas trees and lights! We've been here before for mini golf, which was a lot of fun, the course is really cool and interactive. They have an outdoor ropes course too and some crazy looking roller coasters. This time we went inside and did some arcade games. You have to purchase a game card to add money onto in order to play. So after doing that, we played a few games of air hockey and another laser/3D game. There are a lot of different arcade style games to play, and two levels inside with games on both levels. A cafe/restaurant is also located inside which serves food and drinks. You can also trade in your winnings at the prize counter. read more

Another 1976 established business is Castles N' Coasters for my America 250 series. I went here a couple of times when I lived in Phoenix in 2000's. They have a decent mini golf. Additionally, it's Phoenix's local amusement park. If you don't want to drive to California for Disneyland or others, this is a good option. Granted, it's much smaller, but I had fun on the roller coaster and other rides there. read more

We purchased 4 elite tickets or whatever the highest tier was - on entry we knew a few of the rides were down due to a sprinkling of rain a little earlier - the signs were posted up front - no complaints there. After we made it through the arcade to the rides it turned out that more rides were closed than stated including the karts due to a slippery surface. Come on guys - please be more upfront about what we're paying for on entry. Not good service at all. The main roller coaster ride was in but the Patriots was closed? Confusing. Irritating even. Staff. Good grief. Was there anyone over 25 in the property? It was either gaggled groups of staff have fun times together or miserable non-acknowledging staff who clearly didn't want to be there. I get it. It was a little on the cold side. It had spluttered rain an hour beforehand. But ignoring me after I say hello getting onto the bumper cars and holding a plastic bag over half your face was just weird. It was depressing. As were other staff flying solo on their rides. Also, why were you training staff on the bumper boats while the venue was open? Again. It looked weird and took time away from the evening session. Ultimate safety faux-pas. The sea dragon boat ride thingy. My wife noted she had gotten seated and before the bar had clicked down the staff had started the ride. She had to struggle to click it into place (quickly and desperately) as the ride was getting up to full swing. All I c well an say is, YOU ARE SO LUCKY YOU DIDN'T HAVE A MAJOR INCIDENT. You had two jobs. Check everyone's bar is clicked in place. Press start. You failed. Unacceptable. Inside the arcade was okay. Nowhere obvious to store wheelchairs so we stuck it in the seating area - this was pretty much the same all over the park - disabled / wheelchair storage was not really a thing and routes were poorly sign-posted. Also, one member of staff was manning the outside window and inside counter - but outside there were 'as I mentioned earlier' groups of staff just talking or roaming around. Again, no obvious management / organization. I'm sure the kids and teens love this place, but as a ticket paying adult with a family of 4 I found it to be disappointing, poorly managed with highly questionable safety codes. The sign in the park says Arizona's premiere amusement park or something. Pfffft. Hilarious. read more

I have to say I was really impressed with this place! I haven't been here since the early 00's and didn't expect much, but the place was clean, the staff was friendly and helpful, and I'd say 98% of the games in the arcade worked! I will absolutely be back when it's not 115 degrees out. We did the bumper boats and they were so considerate of how hot the boats could get and took care with us getting in and even provided us with padding to sit on as a buffer which really helped. read more

Castle N' Coasters is always a good vibe, I used to go 1 a month as a teen which my cousin. We could spend hours walking and getting on all the rides. Sweet Nostalgia for me. Now as an adult it's still just as fun, and seeing my nieces and nephews living their best lives, is so worth it. definitely a place to visit. read more

There's a couple machines upstairs that "ate our money". It's a play card with credits, but there are a couple times the games didn't let us play or credit us for a game. Also, the Simpsons machine doesn't let you play Lisa. it picks Bart if you select Lisa's button. Another machine is Zoltar downstairs. He only talks, but does not spit out a souvenir ticket. That one actually did eat my dollar. I guess it made up for it because a couple people abandoned their games downstairs in the middle, so the bf and I played for "free". It was on someone else's dime, but I guess that counts, too. We got nachos and drinks from the snack bar. Service was quick. As with any family fun event center, food was a bit overpriced. The female bathroom was nasty. I don't know how often they clean them, but there was paper all over the stall floor. The faucets had a lot of buildup on them. Both the male and female restrooms smelled funky. I didn't play at the putt putt section, but one day I'll be back to do that. Overall, a good arcade/food experience. I'd recommend this place to people. I cannot comment on any of the rides/attractions besides the arcade. read more

Castles and coasters looks like so much fun! I had been itching to go here for a couple years and finally decided to try it out despite words of caution from colleagues and friends. The assortment of rides for the space is pretty impressive. However, the rides feel old and they are very rough. We all left with pretty moderate pain after only an hour of "fun". I would never ride the roller coasters again because they were so jerky and painful :( In addition, the grounds weren't very clean with trash/litter scattered everywhere despite it not being crowded at all and the staff had pretty crumby attitudes. read more

We finally made it here after nearly 10 years of passing it on the highway and saying "we need to try that sometime!" :) The pricing was pretty confusing so if someone in your group doesn't want to ride rides but just wants to golf for instance it's just $15 for them but $50-60 for those who want the full pass. We loved the miniature golf course it was super cool and long! It took us 45-1 hr. We did the zip line and it was nice but went super quick after a long wait in the line. The workers there were all super helpful at every area. The food was pretty good too! We got chicken strips and French fries. Give yourself a few hours here at least or plan for a full day. Manager Lena investigated thoroughly--called the engineer, discussed an unwritten common sense policy--and honored it professionally. We are from las vegas, and we took a trip to AZ. This is one of the places we had to stop at. This place is definitely so fun. We loved the arcade, and did the zombie ride which was really fun too. After that we went out to ride most of the rides. Was disappointed that the water ride was closed. We went the week before school started. And it was amazing. To start off a majority of the people working here were very respectful and kind. The pricing was fair and the rides were fun for being in a Walmart parking lot. My only complaint would be about the employees working at the log ride. On Saturday may 30th I went to the log ride and asked if I could put my stuff on the other side of the ride, the ginger fellow working the ride said yes I saw a cart coming so I waited and stepped over behind it. Immediately after I was told I was banned from the ride because I stepped over the track and not inside of the cart that was moving. To make matters worse he didn't tell me stop or inform me of this rule beforehand and even allowed my friend to cross in the same manner, if safety is your concern I don't really understand how you could let that happen. When I went back to talk to his shift lead, larger guy, he said that we broke the rules and we were still banned. I'm not sure if these guys were just wanting to be unreasonable but nevertheless management needs to have a conversation with these fellas on professionalism and customer service. At the very least maybe have some clear signage with posted rules if you are going to enforce them in that style. read more

My absolute FAVORITE mini golf place in the valley. We live in Scottsdale but, the drive is well worth it. They have 3 different courses. It's super clean and well taken care of. The staff are awesome too. It's great for all ages. The rides are awesome too. Plus they have the arcade. My boys took me there for my birthday and we had the best time. Can't wait to go back. I went to Castles and Coasters last night on a date with my boyfriend. It wasn't too busy, which was nice, and the rides themselves were fun. However, the overall experience was pretty frustrating due to the lack of communication and customer service. When we walked up to the ticket stand, we were not given any explanation of the different ticket options. We were simply asked what we wanted, which was irritating because I like to know what I'm paying for before making a decision. Because nothing was explained, we ended up choosing the ticket that included unlimited rides, mini golf, and a gamer pass. We assumed the gamer pass meant unlimited arcade games, but that was not the case at all. We were only able to play about three games before the system said we were out of tokens, which made the arcade portion feel like a complete waste of money. We started with the rides, which was the main reason we went, then did mini golf, and planned to finish the night in the arcade. When we went to the prize booth to ask how the arcade pass worked since no one had explained it to us, there were three employees behind the counter. One employee was helping a customer, while the other two were just standing there looking at us. One of them was talking to two girls who I assume also work there. Despite this, no one acknowledged us or asked if we needed help. We stood there for about five minutes before eventually walking away. The attractions themselves were fun, but the poor communication and lack of customer service really took away from the experience. This place has potential, but better staff training, clearer explanations of ticket options, and more attentive service are definitely needed. read more

Succeeded my expectations. They have a great variety of arcade games place is clean and well staffed I like the theme they have and the coasters and rides are great ! The only thing I think would make the experience better is if they didn't charge for the Funhouse. They have a charge of two dollars which seems unnecessary. They do have a great value! read more

I paid 100 dollars to wait in a line for 45 min in the sun with a friend, ride a go-cart so underpowered that i needed the help of an employee to make it go and then it would just come to a stop, then they told me I wasn't allowed in the track for an hour because I was "bumping into people" (I literally went around the track once people kept on slamming into me because I was just in the way). at another ride we waited 30min to get into a teen girl operating the ride was gossiping with her friend for 45 minutes while all the riders sat in the sun mind you through this whole day it was 105°. It had been years since I had stepped foot at Castles and Coasters and I remember it looking and being real rough. The crowds were always a little too rowdy... I recently stopped by for some mini golf and I was surprised to see how great it looked. The mini golf area was well taken care of and the course was fun. We opted to do some rides after and those were a blast as well. The water ride is so much fun. The arcade did look outdated but we still had lots of fun. We opted to do the VR game and it was super short, not worth the extra money you have to pay in my opinion. Employees were friendly and patient. DO NOT! DO NOT GO IN THE BACK OF THE SEA DRAGON IF YOU ARE SKINNY! I was in the row 2nd to the back.. it was all fun and games I thought the levitating was fun for a minute, BUT NO it kept going higher and higher. It was literally at a 90 degree angle. My sweaty hands were slipping off the bar. My legs were shaking. I was slipping out of the seat. The bar was way too big to grip onto. It also didn't go down far enough there was like a foot of space between my lap and the bar. The people at the opposite side of the ship thought it was all fun and games. The only thing keeping me from flying out of that ride was my fingernails gripping into the bar as tight as possible. I left the ride feeling terrified. I almost lost my life that day. Then i proceeded to ride the Splashdown about 30 times until the park closed. Minus one star for the near death experience.. Other than that incident i had a great time! update: Went back there and rode the sea dragon again. Every seat on that ride is absolutely terrifying. Just don't ride this thing in general. We actually had a great time with our granddaughter here but I have never seen employees this miserable. Not one smile or in most cases not a word to all the excited children getting on rides. I ended up asking a couple of the workers if they were ok... yes it was literally that bad. I don't know what the reason is but it started to become very uncomfortable to be around. Either they don't care if their employees enjoy what they do or they make it so awful for them that they project it onto the people paying to be there. Either way it wasn't a good look. read more

This was definitely a fun outing. My nephew was visiting so I brought him and my niece for a fun day out. I bought the unlimited ride passes for $47 each and added the arcade pass for an extra $7. They immediately ran outside to the go carts. We got there kind of early so the line wasn't too long. They went again before we left it was quite the wait. They got on all of the rides minus the boat ride. My one complaint, although not relevant for us, was the lack of handicap accessibility. I saw three couples carrying their baby's stroller up and down the stairs. I can't imagine someone in a wheelchair that wanted to visit. read more

Really not bad. Its a small, quaint little theme park. We visited on a spring-break trip to Phoenix in the beginning of april. Its small, not too crowded, and has lots of shade. Perfect for kids and not overwhelming at all. Maybe a little pricey, but they have a lot of bundle deals including things like minigolf, and an arcade. Also, they don't charge for park entry if you aren't riding rides. I love that. The arcade was surprisingly super cool, well maintained, and has lots of games. Perfect place to kill a few hours with kids. read more

We were denied everything. Paid for things and can't even enjoy mini golf. The manager just couldn't accommodate even the smallest thing. I'm being given the run around about things I paid for. Don't bother. I tried to have a little nostalgia and I'm done. Level the place like metro center. Can't believe how terribly we have been treated. Do not waste your time. Such a shame... came here tons as a kid and we are being treated horribly by staff from the front desk to ride operators to the golf people and management. I can't even believe this. What a shame an iconic Arizona place to play and have fun is a money grabbing shit show that we probably don't even have time to play our round of mini golf in now that they're taking their sweet time wandering around to verify my receipt and cards. They can pay for a $200 day and I still don't think I'd want to come. I want to at least play mini golf but I doubt we have time after their terrible and lazy service. read more

If you are accustomed to big amusement parks such as Six Flags, Busch Gardens etc....this is not that type. It can be expensive if you have a big group but it could be worth it. The ultimate pass is best if your crew wants to do coasters, golf and video games. If you have a child under 40 inches (I believe that's the height) their ticket is half off. Make sure you check the times of everything as the day we went the coasters section didn't open until 2pm. The arcade, mini golf, go carts and bumper boats were open. Food can get costly but it's no different than any other amusement park. Lines for the food stand in the arcade is always the longest but the one inside the coaster section wasn't as bad. They also had a pizza place and ice cream and funnel cakes in that section. There was about 5-6 rides for the littles. read more

Dishonest employees. Don't watch or operate the rides as they should be. Pretend to be managers and they're just employees, giving us the run around when we wanted to complain about their poor service.
