I have used Portland Student Movers twice, and was pleased both times. The movers were courteous fast both times. The first move, they moved my stuff down 3 flights of stairs, and my friends stuff up 3 flights of stairs in one move- no complaints! And so fast!! Then they moved my stuff into my new place- all in about 6 hrs. No WAY could I have done that myself. The second move was from a one story to a storage unit- they were able to fit my 2 bedroom-worth of apartment into 2 VERY small storage units. I was really impressed. One of my mirrors got broken (it happens) but the owner made things right. He was willing to discuss my concern via email or phone, whichever was convenient at the time for me, and made a generous offer. He allowed me to look for what I would want to replace it with by shopping on my own (online and in store) and send him a link/photo of what I wanted to have the mirror replaced with of the same size/shape (it was specialty so finding the exact thing was impossible. I was able to find something pretty close tho). It was a huge mirror (about 4ftX4ft) so it was going to be over $400. Instead of cutting me short or asking me to find something less attractive or cheaper, he wrote me a check and got it to me within the week. He followed up with an email to make sure I received it. His concern, and his willingness to work with me, and to follow up were very much appreciated. My sister got into the Portland Art Institute, and I drove with her to Downtown Portland to get her settled in. She rented a U-haul for the move and we decided to hire a couple of guys to unload the truck for us since we had friends and family help out when we packed the truck up. I got on my phone once we were on the road and searched for local movers in Portland, OR. I found Portland Student Movers through a basic Google search. They had great reviews, so I called and spoke with Larry and let him know that we needed two movers in a couple of days. We didn't know exactly what time we'd be arriving until we got close to Portland. He was willing to wait for a call back and was very accommodating. We were a couple of hours outside of Portland when I sent him a text message and let him know our estimated time of arrival. He responded quickly and confirmed that he would be there. We arrived, parked the truck at the loading dock and waited for about 15 minutes. Larry came with Cain, the other mover. They were both friendly and professional when they greeted us. We all went up the elevator and gave them a tour of the apartment and let them know where we wanted each item to go. These guys are fantastic! They had a great attitude, asked questions when they weren't sure about something, and worked very hard. After a long and exhausting drive it was refreshing to rely on movers to be on time and do the job well. I needed experienced movers that can pack and load the container better then I myself and my friends and family. After doing a little research online I found Portland Student Movers, and after calling one other company I called these guys and spoke with Larry. I decided to go with them because they had reasonable hourly rates, and they offered me used boxes from a previous customer they had previously moved free of charge. I think it is a great idea that boxes that are only used once can be used again, since boxes are very expensive especially wardrobe boxes. I let them know know about the 2 hour window I had as far being able to use the elevator in my building and they could not be late because I would not be able to use the elevator once the 2 hours was up. They showed up 2-3 hours early so we could get the packing done before we loaded the ABF container. Larry and the other mover Brad were right on time, brought boxes, tape, shrink wrap and packing paper with them and got to work! They were so great to work with, such nice and hard working guys. I can not say enough about them, I am grateful they hooked me up with boxes which saved me quite a bit. They also are great at packing and protecting furniture, my things stayed intact once they arrived. This was my second time hiring movers and both times have been an awesome experience. read more

I had purchased some antique pieces online from Beaverton, OR. I had no intention of flying out their to ship them out myself. I needed some experienced guys to load up a POD container i had paid for. I had to alot of coordinating and even needed some help with that from the movers. I shopped around by doing a Google search for movers in Portland. I got a hold of Larry when i called Portland Student Movers. I let him know what I needed and that they had to work around the schedule of the person I purchased the items from, also with POD because they gave me a 4 hour window period of the delivery of their POD. I did not exactly what time they would drop off the POD until the very same day it was to be delivered. Larry was very accommodating from the beginning. He reached out to the gentlemen i purchased the antiques from and worked out a time of when he would be home so they can get access to my things. I also needed movers that had experience with antiques and that knew how to pack a truck properly. After my things were loaded and shipped out i got them about 2 weeks later, I hired movers here where I live to unpack the POD, and they said the movers back in Portland had a good with packing. They used thick pads, alot of shrink wrap and bubble wrap and they tied every piece down with rope so that nothing would move or shift. I was very happy and very pleased with the communication, friendliness and packing skills. Portland Student Movers rock and i will not hesitate to use them again. read more

Portland Student Movers were referred to me by a co-worker back in PDX that had used them last year for her move. She mentioned how good they were and that they had great prices. I called and spoke with Ed and got a quote about my out of state move and let him know i needed to hire a couple of guys to load a small penske truck that i rented. I liked the price and trusted them since my co-worker had put in a good word. I needed the movers to arrive late in the day because i got off work at 5pm and needed to load the truck that night so me and a friend could leave early the next morning. I didn't think they would be able to start at 6pm since it was so late in the day. Ed let me know that because my move would only take 2-3 hours to complete that it would be a problem. The two gentlemen that came to load my stuff were Alex and Leo. They were right on time and did not seem annoyed to be working that late in the in the day. It took them about 2 and half hours to complete the task. I liked the fact that they brought shrink wrap, a dolly, and rope to use on my things. The guys were also very friendly and asked questions when they were confused as to what was mine and what belonged to my roommate. I had been looking for movers for awhile, and kept getting spammed by phone, text and email whenever I would request a "free quote" from other mover's websites. I visited Portland Student Movers website, and they gave me the option to only receive contact through my email, which was already a bonus. I got an email back the same day, and gave them a call. It was a straight forward phone call. I told them the details of the move, he told me exactly how much it'd cost, and I set up my move date with them right away. Larry gave me a call ten minutes before the arrival time to inform me of where they were currently, which was great at ensuring that I didn't get anxious about their arrival. When they did arrive, they introduced themselves (I'm terrible with names, and only remember Larry because he had also called me) and asked to be shown what was going to be moved. They set to work straight away, and didn't dally about at all. When they arrived to our new place, they just need a quick look to see how to move things and went straight to work. I was referred to Portland Student Movers by the retirement community center where my grandfather lived in Beaverton, OR. They had recommended these guys to me because they had moved several other tenants in the past and was told they did a great job. I called to get an estimate so that I can move my grandfather out and move him to a nursing home. I spoke with Ed and requested an estimate over the phone. He was very honest and upfront with me and let me know that due to the elevator in the building and far walk from the front door to the room would slow things down a bit and would make the move go 4-5 hours. I scheduled two movers to come out and do the move the following week. Larry and Leo were the two movers, they super friendly and had an upbeat attitude. They came prepared and got to work right away. The move took exactly 4 and half hours just as Ed stated again due to all the walking and elevator. I was very pleased to hire these guys because there was no way I could rely on family in PDX to do the move it would have taken us all day long and probably several trips between the two locations. Portland Student Movers helped me load a uhaul trailer late last month for my move to West Chester. I did not want to rent a regular moving truck it was so much cheaper to rent a trailer, the only problem was I had a little too much for a trailer. I planned leaving something behind if they did not fit. I called these guys and spoke with Larry who let me know it would take 2-3 hours to complete the move. He came on moving day with Brad, the guys brought shrink wrap, bubble wrap and rope. I had 6 blankets that I rented from uhaul. These guys took their time and wrapped up every piece so they could fit the trailer as tightly as possible. It was like watching them play tetras. It got close to the end and they made several attempts to make a couple of chairs and boxes fit. They took the pieces out about 3 times and repacked to see what angle worked best. Everything did finally fit which was a surprise to me because I had planned on leaving some things behind. I saved several hundred dollars by not renting a truck and going with a trailer. I hired these guys late last month for some packing that I needed done for my out of state move. I rented a U-haul truck and did not want to pack it myself. I would much rather have professional movers do that for such a long drive. I called 3 different moving companies in Portland, one never got back to me, the other was too expensive so I decided to go with Portland Student Movers because they picked up on the first call and the estimate i received was within my budget. I hired two movers to come come out and load my truck for 9:00am on the 29th. Ed called me to confirm on the 28th, the movers called me the next morning when they were on their way at around 8:30am. I had heard horror stories about movers not showing up. These guys went out of their way to let me know. The two movers were Larry and Leo, two super cool guys that got the job done in just two hours. They wrapped everything I had in the blankets I had purchased, and brought with them shrink wrap and rope to secure my things. I did a simple google search for movers in Phoenix and found AZ Student Movers. I was looking for a company that could offer me a fast, trustworthy and reliable service that was not too expensive. Even though my job was paying for half of it to relocate me, I still wanted a decent price but I don't trust many people with my things. I found Portland Student Movers on yelp when I searched for moving companies in the area that could move my sister who is a student at Lewis & Clark. I called and spoke to Larry to set up a date and time for them to come by and move her 1 bedroom studio so that she could be closer to her school. I was paying for her move to help out and so I wanted to make sure I hired the right moving company that would show up and do the job. I wanted to hire students because I think it's great that they work part-time while in school and that I am also supporting students. I found their prices to be reasonable when compared to other movers in the area. Larry and Cain were the two guys that came to move my sister on moving day. She said they were on time, friendly and that they were great with her and even took apart her bed and then put back together in her new room. Awesome. This is my second time using a moving company. My first experience was so horrible I was very hesitant to ever try another such service, but decided I had to try a different company. And I was glad I did. Portland Student Movers were timely, affordable, and all around great guys. We tried to pack everything ourselves but missed a few items- and they had no problem helping us finish them up without charging extra. They did an awesome job of loading our truck so everything was safe and stable. And they were really nice and professional. They worked efficiently and everything was done to schedule or faster. My wife was also indecisive on where she wanted large furniture placed, so they unpacked things in one spot only to later move them to another with not even one complaint! Well, they complained about their manager a bit, but who doesn't? :) Nothing was even slightly damaged, and looking back on it, the fee for this service was so minimal! Obviously, the company is staffed by students-- which is awesome since I was just recently a student myself. My movers, Brad and Cain, were awesome! It was like having my own brothers here to help me move. And they were even more like my brothers, since I only gave them two days notice! (I'm so sorry guys, but thank you so much for helping a girl out!) I had just moved back to PDX (actually Clackamas) from San Jose, having just arrived there from overseas, then got a job here in Tacoma-- so I hardly had time to get myself together. But the guys were awesome and took special care with my family heirlooms and all my art stuff. They weren't only friendly, they were genuinely fun to be around. Best of all, their service was affordable. This was a big deal-- I only just re-entered the workforce, just moved from overseas to PDX and had no income stream yet. When my previous movers fell through at the 11th hour, I poured through Yelp reviews and came upon Axis Moving (AZ Student Movers). I called Ed who was informative, prompt, understanding and helpful. The quote he gave me was spot on and super affordable for what we were getting. We had a unique situation of only needing loading of all of our things into PODS we had in our driveway and then unloading them the next day at the new house. We're not spring chickens anymore and wanted to remain on speaking terms with our kids and all their friends. The team of 3 guys showed up on time, in good humor, allowed me to walk them through the house for a once-over and then they got to work. They put up with my initial grouchiness. Then we all had a donut and then things progressed much more smoothly. The team was respectful and careful with our things, efficient and kind. And they are Tetris PROS!! He called promptly to set up a time for an in-home estimate, confirmed the appointment the day of, and gave me a heads up when his prior appointment was running late that day. When he came to complete the estimate of my one bedroom apartment, he asked if I had considered a mobile storage unit instead of hiring a moving company. He explained that for the amount of belongings (small one bedroom apartment with minimal furniture) and distance I was moving (Arizona to Washington), having a storage unit shipped might be much more flexible and fiscally practical for my needs. These guys are fantastic. And my sister was very excited to have their help. Recently my sister who lives in Tigard got out of a long term relationship and needed to move. I live in California and couldn't take the time off from work to help her in enough time to get her moved. So I did a search on Yelp and made some calls. When I talked to Ed he was very professional and made me feel very confident that they were the right crew for the job. The rates were really good and from what my sister told me well worth it. Larry and Brad both assisted with the move and worked very hard. They were kind and courteous to my sister and made her feel like she had nothing to worry about. I found these guys on Facebook just in time for my unique move. I needed a couple of movers to take some of my furniture to a friend's house because I was giving away a bed set to them. I also wanted to take some other stuff that I did not want because I was moving out of state to a near by goodwill store.
