Wife had 2 visits to the Doctor at Azela OBGYN and was misdiagnosed twice, yet given 2 different Oral Antibiotics for the 2 incorrect diagnosis. Her GP sent her to the ER 2 weeks later to avoid a Systemic Sepsis infection. At the Hospital she was then given 3 days of IV Antibiotics and at discharge was given 2 more weeks of Oral Antibiotics. As a result of 6 weeks of multiple Antibiotics, her digestive AND Immune system was completely disrupted and 6 more weeks later she is still struggling to recover. read more

I've been a patient at this practice for years, but a recent experience has led me to switch providers. At a recent visit, my doctor and I agreed on a treatment plan that included estrogen and progesterone, with a third hormone to possibly be added later if I felt I needed it. This was confirmed in my visit notes. When I picked up my prescriptions, the estrogen was missing -- instead, I'd been given the third medication we'd agreed to hold off on. I didn't catch this until about a week later, when I was feeling off enough to check the bottle myself. Taking the wrong medication instead of estrogen caused extreme irritability, which is out of character for me, so I made the decision to stop the medication on my own. I left a message Friday morning trying to get this corrected, but the office is closed on Fridays. I called again first thing Monday and received a text saying they'd reach out after speaking with the doctor. When I hadn't heard anything by lunchtime, I left another message through the portal and called again that afternoon -- the office phone went to voicemail every time. I finally got a call back at 4:30pm and was told the correct prescription had been sent in two weeks earlier and to check with my pharmacy myself. The pharmacy had already told me otherwise, and it was clear staff weren't listening, so I hung up. At any point, someone from the office could have simply called the pharmacy directly and resolved this in minutes. Instead, I called the pharmacy again myself to confirm -- they again said they'd never received it. Since they didn't believe it coming from me, I asked the pharmacy to call my provider directly. When I tried calling the office back to relay this, it went straight to voicemail again. As a patient calling first thing Monday morning about a clear prescribing error affecting my mental health, I'd expect that to be treated as a priority -- not something that waits until the end of the day and still comes with inaccurate information. Twenty minutes after that final call with office staff, the pharmacy phoned to say the prescription had just come through -- not two weeks earlier, as I'd been told. The office later left me a message claiming the pharmacy had made the error and didn't fully review the original prescription. Either way, I'll be switching practices because of how dismissively I was treated throughout this process. All it would have taken was someone actually listening and calling the pharmacy to confirm. I ultimately contacted my primary care doctor, who got me scheduled within 30 minutes -- the kind of response time patients should be able to expect. No one should have to wait all day for a prescribing error to be fixed. Since posting this, the office has not apologized. Their response has focused on blaming the pharmacy and miscommunication rather than addressing how this was handled. Staff also told me they "won't tolerate threats for attention or mistreatment" -- I never raised my voice or used inappropriate language with anyone there, I was asking for my correct prescription and for staff to do their job. I did tell them I'd be moving my care elsewhere, which I have, but stating that decision isn't a threat. I was also asked to take this post down. I'm not willing to do that, because it's an accurate account of what happened. I've appreciated Dr. Novosel's care over the years, and I believe she's an excellent doctor -- but this experience with her staff is why I've moved my care elsewhere. My Dr retired (Dr Hentz) last year in October 2024 and ask her patients to reach out to Azalea Gynecology which is where all of her patient's records were transferred. So, I reached out in March to Azalea to get an appt for early fall so I could get my medicines renewed and had an appt for August 20th @ 7:30 am. On the 19th I called because I had not received a call to confirm my appt. Not only did the person on the other end of the phone tell me I did not have an appt she was very rude! and told me that with Medicare you can only have a visit with the dr every two years. I am the Office Manager at the Downtown MedCenter and I'm well aware of Medicare rules!!! I just need to get established and get my medication!! She gave me another appt for August 21st (today) at 10:45. I arrived at 10:47 and gave the receptionist my name and said I have an appt at 10:45 which she looked at me with a hateful look and said it was at 10:40 (it was not!!! She said just a minute and came back and told me I had to reschedule!!!! and was just as rude as the first person I spoke too! I said NO you will give me my records! This is the most unprofessional office that I have ever been to! I don't know who runs this office, but it is horrible!!! I have been seeing Dr. Novosel for several years now. I am always able to get an appointment within a day or two of when I call if needed. The office staff is always so polite and professional. Dr. Novosel herself is the bees knees when it comes to bedside manner, addressing concerns, and showing so much support and empathy. She's always happy to run any tests when I have concerns (thyroid panel, hormones, iron, autoimmune, etc.) never have I ever had such a caring Dr. She's by far the best out there. read more

No wonder this place has a low rating...I should have checked the reviews before giving this office a try. It now makes sense why they never have patients in their office. If I could give zero stars, I would. The most unprofessional healthcare office I've ever been to in my life. I inquired about an insurance claim that they filed and was belittled the whole time. The office manager was incredibly rude to me, interrupting the whole time I tried to speak. Belittled that "young" and I don't know what I'm talking about. When I spoke upon the provider that saw me and some of the things I had issues with, the office manager kept getting very frustrated and started to make things personal. Come to find out his wife is the provider that saw me LOL. How unprofessional to be biased when it comes to a patient and provider relationship. He didn't care at all what I had to say because his wife was the person we were talking about. And I never once talked down on the provider...I just had concerns, yet that was enough to make his already red face look like a blistered tomato. I've never been to a healthcare office before that was so rude to the patient and not at all trying to ensure patient satisfaction. This is the worst gynecologist office I've ever been to, and I will never be back. This place is a circus. Please save yourself the energy and money, and go somewhere else. His office could give a crap about their patients well-being, it was very evident in how they handled matters. Urgent cares would be better than this behavior. read more

I have been coming here happily for years but was was very upset today to walk in and be immediately told I had to reschedule because my appointment was at 11:30 and I was more than 8 minutes late (it was 11:40). I did not know about their "if you are more than 8 minutes late you MAY be rescheduled" policy until I read it on their door. Yes, I was a few minutes late; my fault. The receptionist didn't ask or care why. No-one else was in the waiting room and in fact a patient came out from the back and left while I stood there having to reschedule because of 2 minutes. How about some GRACE? How about realizing that I worked out my schedule weeks ahead to make this appointment; shuffling work, 3 kids, early pick up from preschool and coverage for my foster child. All of which I will have to do again to return in 15 days. Especially during this time of Covid, grace would be appreciated. read more

HORRIBLE SERVICE. They lied to me about how much I had to pay. I was paying my co-pay every time and then they said that they've been charging me wrong the whole time and now I owe over $200. They charge more for someone to walk down the hall with your urine sample than they do to test it for bacteria. When the front desk called me to tell me about my outstanding balance, I let her know I felt that I was mislead and lied to. Her response was VERY RUDE. She got defensive and told me I had to pay it in a very harsh tone and was very unforgiving. Never even apologized for the inconvenience. read more

This post is in reference to a response given to my original review. I stated I had called 15 minutes after my appointment time. Which is a true statement unlike the remark that was made about me calling at a much later time. I called at 11:53. After waiting on hold and getting to the correct person to discuss my situation of course "it was much later to him." I have screen shot my call log for proof of the time I called. Ladies, I do not reccomend coming here. I have been called to come back the last three times due to their losing my labs. One time I had to repeat a pap because the nurse practitioner did not scrape enough cells. The next time, the lab lost my blood work and I had to come back to have blood drawn again. This last time, they lost my test results for a test. I am back now for them to redo the test and they want to charge me again. I am not sure if it is the labs fault or their disorganization. I am tired of taking off work to come back for their mistakes. I will be switching to Glenmeade. read more

I recently had my first visit at Azalea and my experience was wonderful. The staff were courteous and compassionate. Dr. Novosel was wonderful. She listened carefully to all of my concerns and addressed them immediately. I left Azalea feeling hopeful for the firs t time in a long time. I have been seeing the doctors at Azalea for 17 years. I have always been met with extremely friendly, professional service and have never had any issues with them. I highly recommend them and continue to go even though they are not "in network" for my insurance plan. read more
