This chip looking thing tastes like a pringle and comes with the curry

Probably the best view I've ever had at a restaurant - if you get the right seats, you can see the Atlantic Ocean right next to you as you eat and it's gorgeous. However, I'd say my experience was below mid. Firstly, there were a lot of flies near my table that were constantly getting into my food throughout the whole meal. I ordered a shrimp curry, which was very solid but not great. The kitchen messed up the order of some of the other people in my group and made them a dish that was much more expensive, but the manager would not agree to serve them that dish at the price that the original dish was. As a result, we had to wait quite a while for the kitchen to make the correct dish. I hope the food wasn't wasted. Disappointed in my experience here even though it's gorgeous. I've got high expectations for such a famous place and I am quite disappointed.

If you are lucky enough to make a trip out to Azenhas do Mar, this place is a MUST GO! Awesome food with great service and view for a very reasonable price. If you can, grab a seat outside with a view of the public (infinity) swimming pool with sand / beach water. We had their seafood pasta and rice and both had fresh seafood. We highly recommend dining at this spot even if it's a bit pricier than other options in the area. One of our most memorable meals during the trip

Truly disappointed with our experience here. My boyfriend and I were looking forward to the beautiful experience and views at this establishment. We arrived for a reservation right on time. We were interested in having drinks and a light bite while enjoying the view before heading out to the beach area. We received our drinks and were informed the 2 light bites we were interested in were the exact options that were not available for the day. There were other amazing options in the menu, but unfortunately we weren't hungry enough for a full meal. When we mentioned this to our server, he told us that we need to leave to make room for other customers and promptly handed us our bill without even offering us a spot at the bar! I've NEVER experienced this type of treatment in my life! Again, although the views are gorgeous and food looked delicious, I would not recommend based off of the poor service we received.

I arrived at 1:00 and no outside table was available. I said I was willing to wait for an outside table. I waited almost two hours for a 3:00 PM lunch reservation because I wanted to be seated outside on the deck overlooking the sea. They ended up seating me inside by the window but with the sun coming in it was stuffy. So I had a crab appetizer but am going to skip main dish and dessert and return to the outdoor bar below for a burger later. I admit to being peeved because they then gave an outside table to a solo man who was behind me. Yes they are very popular but this is an expensive seafood restaurant charging 9€ for bread and olives (high for Portugal). Im sure the food is good but insist on the outside table with your reservation. The bar below serves burgers, guacamole and good drinks too. Im in town all week so Ill return to Agua e Sal nearby for excellent seafood and the bar below for drinks and sea air.

This is our second time here & I can honestly say it's one of my favorite restaurants in Portugal. The location is stunning! Views from every angle! The service is always great & the seafood couldn't be fresher.

This beachfront restaurant with a view was simply amazing. The couvert of bread, tapenade, pesto w cheese, and cheese de Azeite was amazing. Fresh orange juice was some of the sweetest we've ever had, and the white sangria was top notch We had the bread soup which reminded us of stuffing with garlic. Soooo good. Oysters were special and had a balsamic with onion condiment. We had the fish Cataplans which was like a seafood stew with clams, mussels, shrimp, and fish. Quite delicious. Would highly recommend this place to anyone!

While on a tour of Sintra our guide dropped us off here around 3:30 pm on a Tuesday afternoon and the place was pretty empty with just a few customers. However, we waited for 20 minutes to order drinks. After that everything went smoothly. My husband and I shared grilled prawns, grilled octopus and mixed salad. The grilled octopus was amazing. We also enjoyed a plate of cheese, olive, butter and a couple of different spread with bread.

Don't even think about passing on the cheese and olive plate they set in front of you - however be aware it costs about €15 but ... yum. We had our hotel in Sintra book a reservation for us, and which was worth it as we scored a table with a view. Again, olive and cheese plate, delicious. Hubs and I shared a mixed salad and a cataplana de peixe. Excellent food, service, and views. Highly recommended!

We were visiting the sites along the coast of Portugal when we discovered Azenhas do Mar. The location could not be more fantastic as it's right on the Atlantic coast with breathtaking views. We did not have reservations but after less than a minute our family of four was seated at a table next to window with a view of the ocean. The menu is a little on the expensive side, but the food was delicious. My wife and I ordered the Lobster and Shrimp Risotto and our children had the steak. The service was very friendly and quick. I strongly suggest stopping by if you're in the area as they have an excellent selection of fresh seafood. We had a great time!

Fantastic food. Good quality, but tourist prices. $17.00 Sangria? Yikes. I ordered the risotto with lobster and shrimp and it delivered. Chocolate cake for dessert was flavorful and tasty as well. They brought bread, olives, and dips to the table that were so delicious, especially the pesto and cheese butter. Food was beautiful, views were incredible. Just be ready for the prices. Don't park on the hill where the sign for the restaurant is if you're driving a stick. Just trust me. Park at the top and walk down.

Great food, authentic Portuguese cuisine But I must admit, I go for the stunning views, and amazing experience... with the waves crashing while the tide rises or falls... the wonder of the world lives here

After a visit to nearby…read moreSintra our tour guide recommended a romantic seaside lunch to us, and this place did not disappoint. It's a very high end restaurant with incredible views of the water, serving fresh seafood dishes. Service was impeccable, our waiter was happy to answer questions we had about wine and the menu (and also took an entire photo shoot of us at the end to ensure we'd have it for the memories). I started off with the octopus salad which was light and refreshing, featuring crunchy bell peppers and a light dressing. For the main course I went with the baked fish which was melt in your mouth good, swimming in butter. Paired with green wine from Portugal, it reminded me of that quote about fish - "Fish, to taste right, must swim three times - in water, in butter, and in wine." Absolute perfection. A must visit if you're in the area.

We were seated, and it took forever for our serve to come back to get our drinks and appetizers order. After that 30 minutes for my husband's drink to arrive, mine came about 15 minutes after ordering, not together. Appetizers - tuna tartare and pimentos Padron. Tuna Tartare - chunky pieces of tuna with sweet mangoes and tiny pieces of celery and red onions that compliment it well. Pimentos Padron- a typical Iberian sauté peppers appetizer - could have used a little more flaky salt. For mains, we ordered the lobster risotto and seabass "a la nordata," which was a grilled seabass accompanied with Cilantro rice, sautéed veggies, and a citrusy sauce. Lobster risotto - a bit dry, not creamy as a risotto should be. Seabass "a la nordata" - seabass was flaky and well seasoned, and the veggies buttery with a nice bite still. For dessert, we ordered a flan to share, and I had a port. The flan had a nice consistency to it but a bit bland. The lemon sorbet that accompanied it was delicious! For the Port, I ordered a 2011 Vintage and was served a 2013. How do I know? The server brought it to the table! When I questioned it, she said that they ran out of 2011, but the 2013 is the same thing.... hmmm.... nope, it's not the same thing. I still agreed to it, but I would have liked to have been warned before the pour. Overall, I feel like Michelin steered me wrong this time. It wasn't a bad meal. I just had higher expectations for it. After over a week of delicious food at cheaper restaurants, I expected better service and better food here.

This is the only restaurant in Portugal that asked for a tip. Afterwards I realized they ripped me off because VAT was included in my meal price. Don't fall for the tip is not included, it might be because I am American. My server was on the grumpy side and never once smiled, but I think that is his personality, he smiled for no one. Food: I ordered the pasta with chile, calamari, and shrimp. It was a unique pasta with garlic and tiny amounts of ginger, that played very well and there was like 2 chile rings and then calamari and shrimp. The pasta was cooked perfectly and right amount of sauce that just played well together. The calamari was cooked to perfection as was the shrimp but a few were not cleaned properly but everything tasted good. The chile did have a tiny bite so somebody might think this is spicy but was not for me, finally something with flavor. I did not eat all the pasta because then I ordered the octopus. The octopus was not cleaned properly but the texture was spot on and the taste was great, I added some of my own hot sauce on the side to give it some kick. Odd to have a boiled egg with the octopus, good taste but the green ring indicates the egg was overcooked. Everything was temperature hot and served fairly quickly. WiFi available. I should have just ordered the pasta because that was fantastic! The octopus was okay but took some work to clean. The pasta gives this place a 5. Service and tip with VAT already included would drop to 2. The octopus is 3 stars. But the pasta was the best meal thus far in Portugal.

Their selection of fresh fish was very good, but prices were a bit higher than we expected. We received the traditional hard cheese, bread, and olives as an appetizer (which you pay for in Portugal). Then, my wife ordered vegetable soup, and I tried the shrimp rice. The rice had plenty of smaller shrimp in it. The rice was very soupy and didn't have much flavor. The shrimps were good. And I was told the vegetable soup was also a bit bland but did taste good. Although we were both full, we ordered their chocolate mousse cake for desert. The black pork (it's not black, but comes from black pigs) was so tender and flavorful that I practically licked the plate.
