I had an opportunity for ice cream on a day Jen's was open so I made the most of it. Jen's is located in downtown Morganfield in an old building and it also has a barber shop in the back of the store. What you will find at Jen's is a little bit of everything. There is an old fountain shop counter that serves ice cream and other delicious drinks. They serve sandwiches. There is candy and different type of sodas everywhere. Things I thought that were unique about Jen's were they bottle their own sweet tea and hot chocolate. It's August when I am writing this but I'm guessing the owner is named Jen, told me they bottle their hot chocolate and people buy it to put on their ice cream. I think I will have to try that. I also just want to try it just to think of it as a cold hot chocolate milk. Also, my milkshake was hand-dipped. She actually had to go get more ice cream from somewhere close by but it was worth the small wait. The milkshake was marvelous. When we arrived, the young lady barista and pastry chef extraordinaire was in the back baking pastries. She served up the best Caffe Macchiato including the signature swirls. What an artist. Some locals showed up and we had the best conversation about Albion. Our ancestors all grew up in nearby Ellery in the 1800's so it was exciting to have coffee in the downtown area they likely traveled to albeit with horse and wagon. The coffee shop is housed in a beautifully restored home across from the town square. If your nearby, it's worth the drive.
