We stopped at The Feed Mill Restaurant on a Monday and tried the all-you-can-eat Cajun special for $12.99, which was a really good deal for the price. The food was decent overall, and service was fairly quick during our visit. The restaurant has a unique southern-style atmosphere and definitely feels like a local spot. It's also pretty much in the middle of nowhere, so there really aren't many other nearby dining options. Ordered the Cajun all-you-can-eat with jambalaya, crawfish etouffe, shrimp creole. It literally was a plate of rice with sauce on it. I had one scant piece of crawfish, 3 baby shrimps and 1 tiny piece of sausage. My plate looked untouched. The waitress took forever to take our order, she didn't check on us after we got our food and then came and asked if we wanted more of something that looked untouched!! ‍. Then offered us dessert. She never ask why I didn't eat the plate of saucy rice and didn't even ask if I wanted to take the practically untouched food home. I have been hired to work in the town of Morganfield and I had noticed the Feed Mill on my way in. My fiance was helping me with my classroom so I decided to take her out to eat. The decor of the restaurant makes you think you are at a rustic, hodgepodge cabin with a feed mill besides the restaurant. The building is huge. There are Mardi Gras decorations up inside. The Feed Mill has a good mix on their menu. There are steaks, seafood, BBQ, sandwiches and Cajun food. My fiance and I started out with an appetizer of fried green beans. The fried green beans came out hot with a tasty batter perfect for dipping in ranch. My fiance ordered the prime rib sandwich with fries. The cheese on the sandwich was the best part of it with the sliced onions. The beef was sliced pretty thin. The bread was a bun which was weird for that type of sandwich. The au jus was ok. I liked the fries, my fiance did not. They were the straight cut variety and not made in the restaurant. I ordered the pulled pork plate with mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. The plate came with what they call a BBQ dip. It's a very thin BBQ sauce that is a vinegar base but this one was superior to my previous review of Peak Bros. It was more like a BBQ sauce than a thin dip. But my pulled pork was not that great, not tender or exactly delicious. The sauce immensely helped it though. The mac and cheese was the better of the my 2 sides. It was good and cheesy but not much else to it. My mashed potatoes were also homemade but they seemed to need something to make them more creamy. They were seasoned well but the texture was kind of close to an instant mashed potatoes. One of the best part of the meal was the Cajun garlic sauce on the table. It packs a punch of flavor at first and has some spiciness to it. It just made everything taste better. Sweet tea was refreshingly sweet! In summary, the Feed Mill was ok. Nothing too great, nothing too bad. I would eat here again for the possibility that what I picked this time wasn't their best dish. read more

Fantastic We had the big pretzel with cheese sauce, I had butterfly shrimp and husband had Half rack of ribs. Waitress was pleasant and quick. The vinegar slaw was great! And the pretzel outstanding! All the food was good and served in reasonable time at high noon. read more

I can't speak for the dinner experience as its currently quarter till one in the afternoon. For lunch, this place is good. Wasn't overly busy at all. Nice atmosphere, though I hate how every place around here pipes "country" through the radio, with a lot of dark woods to set the "mill" appearance. My wife and I tried the gator tail appetizer as I was too scared to try the gator tail dinner. Tasted like a cross between chicken and lobster. We both really liked it. Had it served with honey mustard. That was followed up by the main course. Tiff had a catfish dinner. Two decent sized catfish fiddlers with two sides. Her opinion was, "awesome, worth coming back." Being nearly an hour and 40 minutes from home, I'm not sure how soon but will likely be soon. I had a cup of gumbo. I wasn't overly hungry so I didn't order the bowl. Having never had gumbo before, I can't vouch for authenticity but I can say that it was great. Not too spicy and carried a lot of flavor. It is a very heavy soup. I found even the small serving to be filling. If you happen to be in the area (not likely unless you live here) or just feel like taking a drive, don't be afraid to check it out. I got the pulled pork sandwich with onion rings and potato salad. My work partner got taco salad. The pork onion rings were very good. I suspect the potato salad was not made in house. My partner did not like her taco salad at all. She said the ground meat tasted really wierd and she at just a couple of bites. We tried to get our servers attention but she was too busy socializing with her peers. The wait staff were very loud and mostly in the service area..not available to customers. The wait staff did not have thier eyes on the customers at all. The server never checked on us and i had to go to service area to get attention and the check. Last time I ate here the Prime Rib sandwich was a letdown. (Key word..."Last".) The Au jus served with it was salty. The meat seemed dry if not well done. Some slices were curled up at the edges. I had the Cajun sampler where you get two Cajun items. I ordered the Gumbo and the Jambalaya. The Gumbo was just OK. The Jambalaya was all rice except for one small piece of sausage. In other words... terrible. The waitress was very nice and offered to bring out some shrimp creole. The shrimp creole was OK. This was my first experience here. Maybe they do a better job with the more traditional fare like burgers and fried chicken. But I would stay away from the Cajun offerings. Frankly, they should boost the price from I think it was 7.99 or 8.99 to 10.99 or 11.99 and improve the quality of the food. One other note. If you like craft beer you better go somewhere else. They haven't gotten the message that the rest of the restaurant industry has been serving craft beer for about 10 years. read more

Cajun Charlie come on down!! "The mob", a group of hearty men with opinions and delicate wives, had lunch here and we're totally satisfied. If you don't want to drive to NOLA for some Cajun then take a short drive here. Monday and Tuesday all you care to eat Cajun or all you can eat frog legs (Monday). We went to eat a late lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Excellent food and excellent service. We had the gator tail appetizer. One of our party had the shrimp po'boy and states "It was soooo good." Two of us tried the fried chicken platters. The fried chicken had a great flavor, perfectly crisp on the outside, juicy and tender on the inside. You can choose from traditional sides or Cajun sides. We were able to try the shrimp creole, jambalaya and crawfish etouffee. All were very flavorful with just enough spice, but not too hot. Definitely will return. read more
