Came here because wanted some food and beer after playing at the local Disc Golf Course and the Tavern was closed. Pleasantly surprised, so much so that I wanted to leave a review. First off they bring out some seasoned chips and yummy fresh salsa. The seasoning was perfect imo. Next we ordered a couple beers. That would be my biggest complaint, small 12 once glasses. The Margherita was very good though that I ordered next. After that my buddy got some beef lengua (tongue) tacos. Tried a piece of meat and it was very tender and flavorful. I had the quail fajitas and wow, talk about tasty! Got 2 birds worth of meat. Very very good. I thought Plaza Mexico was the only game in town, but I am glad to report that I AM WRONG! read more

There was a bug/beetle/ roach in my food!! It was some kind of elongated beetle with antennae. I felt extremely ill after eating and seeing the bug. The food has a very odd taste to it. I don't know if it's regional but it wasn't very savory. This isn't 1 star because the staff was VERY nice to me and the portions were generous. The beef was VERY tender in the birria, but the taste was odd and not enjoyable. I just would never dine here again. read more

I have given this place several chances and it seems like every time I go it gets worse and worse. this last time I went I only got a drink and appetizer. I ordered the queso and a margarita. I had to send the queso back because it looked and tasted like it came straight from a can, not fresh and nuclear orange in color ( and also cost 7 dollars for something I know cost them 50 cents?!). I also had to send my margarita back because it had several fruit flies In it. Needless to say I didn't feel like ordering food after that and was slightly grossed out. I seriously I wish I could like this place because I live right down the street but I don't think I can give it another try after this last time. read more

My mother is staying at the local rehab hospital down the street from the Azteca Bar and grill. I took a chance and was very pleased with the food! The quantities were generous. I ordered to go rib eye steak dinner and tilapia with crabmeat dinner, side salad and flan. The food was ready and hot at time of pick up. Digging in to the food we were very pleased with the flavor of both the steak and tilapia, lip-smacking delicious in fact. I was so happy because we were able to eat dinner with our mother and celebrate my brother's birthday with a wonderful meal. It's the little things in life that make such a great difference. Sides were rice and roasted veggie mix of yellow and zucchini with carrots. Side salad was fresh too. Flan is yummy. One caveat--the food is highly seasoned and salty so take care if you have hypertension! Ask them to cut back the salt. Thanks Azteca for a great dinner! We will be back! read more

Such a cute little place in our hometown Walkersville. Love to try these small family owned businesses. I know this location hasn't had the best of luck when it comes to business so we decided to try this place out. First coming in, it was a small little restaurant with a flashy looking bar. We got to know the waiter and he was the kindest man ever. He talked with me and my parents about his move from El Salvador and his family. He worked so hard and it made the whole restaurant experience so nice and personal. Now onto the food. We ordered the papusas as a little starter. We got the Loroco flower with cheese papusa and the pork with cheese papusa. Loved the slaw that came with it! It provided a great crunch and freshness to the cheesey papusas. We also go the lengua tacos (beef tongue) that was nice and tender and my parents loved those. Lastly, we shared the mixed fajitas. This comes with beef, shrimp, and chicken. Beef was a little chewy and dry but the rest was great. The fixings came with the fajitas as always and love having the hot sizzling plate come with it. Overall, this meal was what you expect in terms of tacos, and fajitas. Glad to see the papusas on the menu. Would def come back again and support this small business! read more

Very disappointed. We local Walkersville people were hoping for a good restaurant. Where do I start! No curtains hung up so every car that pulls into the parking lot blinds you. Service is horrible. Our waitress never brought us water like we asked and never came back to check on us once even after the cook brought us out the wrong food. They only have one flavor margarita original which tasted like sour mix. Guacamole wasn't edible. I so wanted to ask for my money back. Won't be going again. We decided to eat here after driving 45 minutes to attend my daughter's JV Basketball game at nearby Walkersville, High School. The restaurant is in an older strip of stores with limited parking. The Pizza Hut next door has PLENTY of parking as they have no customers. The inside is nice and themed appropriately. There are a combindation of booths and tables and chairs. The booths are not mounted, so they also move when your big butt moves. We were the only people there, though it was only 6:45. Perhaps the restaurant crowd in Frederick, Maryland dines earlier. The menu has your standard Tex-Mex fare. My wife ordered chicken enchiladas and I ordered the pork enchiladas. Both came we refried beans and rice, though the rice was yellow rice, not the typical tomato-based "Spanish rice". The waiter brought chips and salsa. The chips were the thickest tortilla chips I think I've ever eaten and many exploded upon impact with my mouth as evidenced by the crumbs all over the table. If I hadn't known any better, you'd think a 2 year old sat there previously. The salsa was good. Dinner seemed to be slow to get to our table despite that we were the only ones there. But when it was delivered it was hot and both of our meals tasted good. Both were spicier than expected, but certainly not too spicy for us to eat. We graciously stopped eating about half way through the meal so as to not perpetuate the fat Americans persona. The meals were reasonably priced, e.g. $10 - $20, and you can order items a la carte. We didn't order any alcohol as it was both a Tuesday and we had a 45 minute drive home. They had what seemed to be a well-stocked bar, and they offered your standard hispanic beers, e.g. Dos XXs, Corona, Pacifico, Modello, as well as the mega brewer's lagers, e.g. Budweiser. The most exotic beer offered was Evolution's Lot 6, which is an IPA. Overall, this is a nice place and I would definitely eat there again. read more

This was one of our go-to places on Mondays with my mom. The food is delicious and I really love their tableside guacamole bar. Prices are great and so is the food. Service is sometimes a little slow, but that's OK, it just gives us more time to talk. The Decor is great and festive. read more

This place may be Maryland's version of "Tex Mex" but it definitely isn't Texas Tex Mex and was not authentic (Mexican or Tex Mex) in my opinion. The rice tasted like microwaved Uncle Ben's variety and the salsa did not taste fresh and was actually more like what I would call pico de gallo. I couldn't even bring myself to eat my chicken enchiladas. Super disappointing as I saw Tex Mex on the sign and read all the confusingly amazing reviews promising "authentic" Mexican. I think this place is a hidden gem, and everyone should come here when they have a craving for latin cuisine. Food is AMAZING. Delicious, flavorful, and the meat is incredible. Really enjoyed our meals from Azteca tonight. Their pupusas are delicious and their tacos are classic Mexican style with onions and cilantro. Authentic Mexican. They first brought us home made tortilla chips and salsa which were very good. I would say that the chips were better than most as they were thick, crispy and had a real good taste to them. I ordered Steak Fajita's and my Wife had Chicken Enchilada's. Walked in and asked for carry out. We were presented with a menu, a smile, and a place to sit at the bar while we made decisions. We ordered a couple orders of tacos and were immediately asked if we would like chips and salsa while we waited. The chips seemed house-mad, very fresh, and had a wonderful light seasoning. The salsa was also good. The chicken tacos were excellent. The beans and rice that came as a side were nothing to rave about, but they were as good as most dine and dash Mexican style restaurants, and they're just beans and rice, so how much can you really expect? All in all it was a positive experience. I'm happy they arre in the neighborhood, and am looking forward to returning to see what else is good on their menu. I'd rate Cacique, Lapaz, and Mariachi's 5 stars for their tex-mex dishes, so this place gets a firm 4. Will update if future meals outshine the last. read more

Really solid Tex-mex food. We had a steak quesadilla, chicken fajitas, and some pupusas. Everything was served hot and pretty promptly despite what seemed like a pretty heavy demand for carry out orders. Good flavor in everything and reasonable prices, would definitely go back. read more

Not impressed.. ordered margaritas and was told bartender not in yet.. server not old enough to serve alcohol.. this is at noon on a Thursday.. NOT A GOOD START..chips were what I thought are triangled flour tortillas that are fried and served with what probably is jarred salsa..my chicken enchiladas were good and served with refried beans and rice (plain not Spanish rice) .. the burrito my friend got came out looking like a wrap.. it was cut in half and plated like a wrap.. no sides.. no sauce over it.. rice and beans were inside.. very disappointing.. I was hoping for a decent Mexican restaurant in Walkersville.. and we were the only people there during our lunchtime visit! read more

We were happy to see a new restaurant open in town and decided to order some carry-out because we'd had a busy, hectic day. Well, first, they didn't answer their phone, so we tried the other number which ended up being a non-working number. So, we went down to order in person since we had another errand to run. To our surprise it turns out they will not give you chips and salsa with take-out orders - just dine in. We'd never experienced that before. We ordered a chicken and cheese quesadilla, a pork burrito, and a chicken enchilada. The burrito and enchilada and rice were kind of bland. No taste of cilantro or other seasoning and very little green sauce on the enchilada. The filling in the quesadilla was pretty sparse. They did not offer us any hot sauce with our order. Even Taco Bell gives you free packets of sauce. I'm sorry to say we won't be returning to this restaurant since (as we now know) it's worth the drive to the mexican restaurant in Worman's Mill. read more
