Came here for a friends birthday last minute and they were thankfully able to squeeze us in! The place is very cute and our server was great. The drinks were delicious and they had a nice selection. My friend got the margarita flight and it came out with a sparkler, haha. We did the table side quac and it was so good. I've never had quac so smooth before! My fiance got the carnitas tacos and I got the enchiladas crema and we shared them. Everything was delicious. The carnitas tacos were a hit with everyone as multiple people ordered them. I'd been wanting to check this place out for a while and finally stopped in last night! It was a Friday night closer to closing time so it wasn't busy at all. We sat on the patio outside which was perfect. Our server, Angelica was amazing super sweet, kind, and patient we loved her! We started off with some chips and salsa which was okay. I was super hungry so i ate it but the salsa kinda tasted like spaghetti sauce. Not my fave at all. But the chips were good. We ordered the margarita flight which was very ok. The smaller portions made the flavors feel so much more concentrated. Pretty underwhelming bc all i could taste was how sweet it all was and just a hint of tequila. Definitely better off ordering a regular drink next time. But it was super cute and exciting how the flight came with the sparklers! For dinner we ordered this huge taco platter which was an absolute dream come true. It came with 12 tacos and your choice of meat. We picked chicken, al pastor and carne asada! For my birthday forget a cake i want this taco platter! The vibes, music, staff were great as well as the tacos. Really great place to get Tex-Mex food in Brandon! Love the interior decor because it is nice and modern and has plenty of seating for large parties. There is also a large area for outdoor seating when the weather is nice. The servers here are super friendly, although when it gets busy, it can be hard to get their attention at times. The food is solid and comes in pretty large portions sizes. I had the Birria Tacos and Taquitos and they were excellent. Super flavorful and very filling. I had no idea this gorgeous restaurant was in the Brandon mall! It is so clean and pretty and tastefully decorated. They are very tech savvy and supply you with an ipad to order from. We went for a work lunch but I made a note to come back for happy hour because they have a lovely bar. Note, if you go around the time of this writing, there is construction in front of this restaurant and depending on how you go around the construction, you may have to go through the mall so it is a bit of a walk. The manager was walking around checking on things which is always a nice touch. They had a nice menu and I remember the food came out quickly and was decent. I was not blown away by the taste but the portions were good and order was accurate. The chips and salsa were ok and the food was okay. I thought the chicken in my enchiladas was a bit dry and stringy. I will definitely try again though. read more

Who said Mexican food couldn't be healthy?! So I've come here often. Most recently, I wanted something on the lighter side. I opted to get the sopa de Pollo. It was fresh, delicious, and so light and warm. It was the perfect comfort food/healthy option. I also ordered a tamarind margarita on the side, which was absolutely delicious. My employees and I went to a lunch meeting at this restaurant. The ambience and decor is very festive and well decorated. The hostess and server were very warm and welcoming and were very attentive. As soon as we got seated, we were provided with chips and salsa. The salsa tasted a bit watered down. We all ordered an array of meals to include fajitas, hard shell, corn and flour tacos and nachos. Everything was freshly made, seasoned and delicious . I ordered the hard shell tacos with ground beef, rice and beans and everything was flavourful. The birria tacos were tasty and filling, but the rice was a bit bland and the beans were just okay, nothing to rave about. The standout items were definitely the cocktail and the birria tacos. Salsa tastes like pasta sauce. It's sooo gross. We ordered steak and shrimp fajitas for two. The order comes out and is steak, chicken and shrimp so I tell them that we didn't order chicken. They come back two minutes later with the same fajitas without the chicken on the plate -- clearly they had just scraped the chicken off and didn't add anything to the plate but rather just covered the space up with grilled veggies. The fajitas for two had 5 shrimp on it for $46...what a freaking joke. read more

My only complaint is the water pressure in the ladies' room was so light it took a long time to wash my hands. Monica was our server. She was fantastic. I ordered the Margarita Flight and it was really tasty, fun to try a few different flavors (the pineapple and tamarindo flavor were my favorites). We also got the fresh guacamole, and they make it right at the table which I loved. Our server Jonathan was awesome, super friendly and made sure everything came out on time. Skinny margarita? Yes please! I had two of them-and could have done a third! Nice job, bartender! I'll be back for more of those-and to try the margarita flight ($21 as of January 2025, with flavors that change often) I rolled in here after a very busy Wednesday off, around 3:30 pm. It's an odd time for restaurants-but also kind of great, since you can usually be seated quickly, which I was. There's a main dining area-a large bar with high tops and booth seating and a patio. I had a booth near the bar. The lighting was exquisite-so many types and they all made statements. There were also some stunning room dividers and murals. The decor is definitely immersive. You forget that you're at busy Brandin Exchange with the packed but convenient parking lot, not far away. My server was extremely nice. He was there immediately after I was seated. He was attentive and cheerful-but just one of the people who stopped by. The manager came and took my drink order, one woman came with chips and salsa-a second woman came with my second drink and at the end, a third woman came to ring me up. Maybe I was there during shift changes. Everyone was efficient-just interesting to meet so many. Anyhoo, I ordered the build your own enchiladas... opting for the chicken, with verde sauce. It came with rice and beans. I chose Mexican rice with black beans. I really enjoyed the meal. It was tasty and the flavors were balanced. It also didn't feel heavy, I'd definitely order this again. The chips were fine, but the salsa (I just got one-red), was too oniony for me (that's just me). Next time, I'll ask for the green salsa I've heard others mention. This Azteca D'Oro is the second location I've been to. A couple of years ago, I dined at the Lakeland restaurant and really enjoyed it. This one is pretty and clean. I'm eager to go back and try more entrees... and the queso intrigues me, too-but $11 seems high. We'll see. Maybe after I've caught up on Christmas bills, I'll give it a whirl. I was here for lunch time. The restaurant is 60% full. Consider this is already a good business. The restaurant has three sitting area, the bar, dining hall and patio. I select the high top close to TV. The service is slow in the beginning and the manager did come by ask me if I need anything before my waiter. I got the lunch special Carne Asada. The dish comes grilled jalapeño, fried bean, rice and guacamole salad. The meat is high quality even they are 5 oz small size. It cook perfectly with good taste. This was my first time at this restaurant and they did not disappoint. The setting was nice with great lighting. I am extremely picky about my Mexican cuisine and Azteca tasted like homemade. We had the Queso, chips and salsa, and Elotes as appetizers and they were amazing. Our main courses were the Macho Burrito and lunch combo. The burrito was balanced and full of flavor, smooth and not overpowering. This experience was topped off by the phenomenal service of Elsie our server who took her time explaining the menu and checking on us to make sure we were experiencing the Azteca authenticity. We came on a Monday. We were quickly seated. It wasn't crowded at all. We came during happy hour. The margaritas are 2 for $10. Food was decent. I wouldn't say it was amazing. They give u complimentary chips and salsa which has a lil spicy kick to it. I ordered the Camarones al Mojo. It was ok. Tasted kind of bland and i feel like the portion size was small for the price you paid. My hubby got the birria tacos in which they were small too. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. Large bar area that is both inside and outside. We sat outside because it was nice out and the outside area is completely covered. The wife and I shared a margarita flight. If you cant choose what to flavor just get the flight as it has 4 different flavors and it comes with a sparkler! On to the macho burrito... this thing is big and I love it. Got it with chicken. It's the newest Mexican restaurant in Brandon. I believe this is a family run chain of restaurants that started in Orlando. They've been opening many locations around the area. The first location in the Tampa Bay area opened in Wesley Chapel. We visited at an off-peak hour between lunch and dinner service. They sat us in a nice booth at the bar area. It's nicely decorated with some very cool lighting and wall murals. The bar area seems massive. I'm guessing people go there for the margaritas and specialty cocktails that all look amazing. The service was good. We got our ice tea right away along with complimentary chips & salsa. She gave us both to try. The spicier green salsa was the best. The mild red salsa didn't really taste like anything. No cilantro or garlic flavor. I don't recommend it. The chips were just okay. I know of many store brands that are better. The entrées were also a bit disappointing. More so for my husband. He ordered the Plato Mexicano. It was a $30 platter that comes with carne asada and other specialties such as chicken taquito rancheros, an enchilada, and a chile relleno. He wasn't happy because it was served lukewarm. The cheese inside wasn't even melted. It tasted like it was reheated or premade. I can't even explain it. The taste was surprisingly bland. Maybe it was the time of day that we were there. I don't know. The server apologized, and offered to remake it for him. He declined because he didn't think that the temperature would make it taste better. My steak fajitas were definitely sizzling when it arrived. There were no temperature issues, but the taste was pretty basic. It tasted more like a bottled marinade, and not much of a steak flavor. I guess it's what you would expect at any chain restaurant, but at a higher price point for the presentation. They give you a good enough portion of toppings. The grilled veggies were very good. The plantains were an additional charge. I don't recommend them. They did give us a card for a complimentary future entrée. That was very nice. We may give them another try, but not any time soon. read more

New Mexican restaurant in the Brandon area and I had to try it. I loved the attention from the moment I arrived; they were very friendly. The decoration is super cool, elegant, the place feels very Mexican and I like that. The atmosphere is definitely a good option for celebrate a birthday or something special because it has a great party vibe. They also have an outdoor seating area. I started by ordering chips and guacamole, they were delicious, and a margarita flight (my favorite was the tamarind and dragon fruit). I tried the birria tacos and they were 10/10 absolutely delicious!!! My husband ordered fajitas and I must say he expects a little more flavor 6/10. I've read that they have mariachis some days; I will definitely be back it's a new Mexican food option in the area. Very disappointed in what was supposed to be a great taco Tuesday. After researching the taco Tuesday specials online 24 hours ahead of time, our friend group decided to switch it up and go to Azteca for their deals. We had eaten there before for their HHour (bogo margaritas) and wanted to try again to experience their advertised Tuesday specials. Excited to order, the waitress told us "we only have specials during happy hour that ended at 6" which completely threw me off. When our friends arrived they also asked about the day's specials and we were all told "no there are no specials today". It's funny because we arrived at 6 and the waitress told the table behind us "oh happy hour just ended at 6:30 sorry"... My partner and I ordered anyways, 3 tacos and a quesadilla + a house margarita each. Our friend's Long Island also had a dead fly in it so we agreed we would not eat here again. Why the heck did I pay $78 for poor service and an inconsistent waitress who couldn't provide correct information... The cherry on top was we stopped in the mall and walking out of that exit, we saw a huge cardboard sign that said "TACO TUESDAY $12 TACO TRIO ALL DAY". Went here on a Friday at 6pm. We got in with little wait. The atmosphere is fun. There were four of us we shared table side guacamole which was phenomenal, and queso. I had the chicken soup which was like my grandfather made growing up in ybor city, corn, veggies, chicken. The others had, fajitas steak and shrimp, the burrito and the pick two, tostado and taco.
