Met some work colleagues here after work. The atmosphere was nice, the people were friendly, and the food was good.

I stopped by Azteca de Oro after a shopping trip at the Brandon Mall and decided to grab a quick bite. I only ordered a drink and an appetizer, both were good. It was early, so the restaurant wasn't crowded, which made the atmosphere relaxed. The service was great, attentive, and friendly without being overbearing. I definitely plan to come back when I'm in the Brandon area to try more of their menu.

I was excited to come because the reviews were great but I was very underwhelmed. We got in fast which was good. The ambiance was nice. Our server was very nice , but the food was just ok. The guacamole was pretty good. The salsa was too tomatoey and the chips were off. The steak fajitas had way more onions than needed. The steak was ok. I think it wasn't well cooked even though the flavor was fine. All in all it was edible but not great

This was my first time visiting. We were served warm chips and salsa right away. The salsa was good but pretty typical. My cocktail was strong and really good, an easy 10 out of 10. The birria tacos were tasty and filling, but the rice was a bit bland and the beans were just okay, nothing to rave about. The standout items were definitely the cocktail and the birria tacos. Service was attentive as soon as we were seated, and the ambiance was creative and unique. Overall, the food was decent but a bit overpriced. I might come back if I'm at the Brandon Mall and craving quick tacos and drinks, but there are other Mexican restaurants in the area I'd choose first.

Seems to be pretty busy though was seated promptly 6PM. Located on the outside of a shopping mall, easy to get to. Chips and tasty salsa. Ordered a margarita , Cuervo gold.Chicken fajitas were good, needed more peppers though. Allot of meat made up for it and nice sides come w it.

Great atmosphere! Clean, friendly, fast service. Free chips and salsa and happy hour as long as you get there before 6PM. Service was fast and the food was tasty. Happy hour is from 3P-6P it's in the Brandon mall plaza

For a mall restaurant this is a high end dining experience. Inside and out it's very well appointed and the menu choices make choosing somewhat of a chore. The service was good and the food even better. Nice size portions with leftovers to travel home.

Fantastic food. The fresh guacamole is so fresh. They make it in front of you! I highly recommend getting the elote. It was delicious. My only complaint is the water pressure in the ladies' room was so light it took a long time to wash my hands. Monica was our server. She was fantastic. Also they serve Pepsi products but you can get Coke in a glass bottle!

Loved this place! The location, design and ambiance, the menu, the drinks, the service from the incredible staff, the food. It was all amazing.

Came here with some friends just to grab drinks and chill and we had a great time! I ordered the Margarita Flight and it was really tasty, fun to try a few different flavors (the pineapple and tamarindo flavor were my favorites). We also got the fresh guacamole, and they make it right at the table which I loved. Our server Jonathan was awesome, super friendly and made sure everything came out on time. The place is really cute, great for hanging out or starting off a night out. I definitely want to go back to try the birria tacos, I've heard they're super popular!

Skinny margarita? Yes please! I had two of them-and could have done a third! Nice job, bartender! I'll be back for more of those-and to try the margarita flight ($21 as of January 2025, with flavors that change often) I rolled in here after a very busy Wednesday off, around 3:30 pm. It's an odd time for restaurants-but also kind of great, since you can usually be seated quickly, which I was. There's a main dining area-a large bar with high tops and booth seating and a patio. I had a booth near the bar. The lighting was exquisite-so many types and they all made statements. There were also some stunning room dividers and murals. The decor is definitely immersive. You forget that you're at busy Brandin Exchange with the packed but convenient parking lot, not far away. My server was extremely nice. He was there immediately after I was seated. He was attentive and cheerful-but just one of the people who stopped by. The manager came and took my drink order, one woman came with chips and salsa-a second woman came with my second drink and at the end, a third woman came to ring me up. Maybe I was there during shift changes. Everyone was efficient-just interesting to meet so many. Anyhoo, I ordered the build your own enchiladas... opting for the chicken, with verde sauce. It came with rice and beans. I chose Mexican rice with black beans. I really enjoyed the meal. It was tasty and the flavors were balanced. It also didn't feel heavy, I'd definitely order this again. The chips were fine, but the salsa (I just got one-red), was too oniony for me (that's just me). Next time, I'll ask for the green salsa I've heard others mention. This Azteca D'Oro is the second location I've been to. A couple of years ago, I dined at the Lakeland restaurant and really enjoyed it. This one is pretty and clean. I'm eager to go back and try more entrees... and the queso intrigues me, too-but $11 seems high. We'll see. Maybe after I've caught up on Christmas bills, I'll give it a whirl. Cheers, everyone!

Pleasantly surprised by this restaurant! The food And service were great. Also the drinks were very good. If I lived in Brandon I'd come back and try something else. The ambiance is very nice and the restaurant is beautifully designed.

This was my first time at this restaurant and they did not disappoint. The setting was nice with great lighting. I am extremely picky about my Mexican cuisine and Azteca tasted like homemade. We had the Queso, chips and salsa, and Elotes as appetizers and they were amazing. Our main courses were the Macho Burrito and lunch combo. The burrito was balanced and full of flavor, smooth and not overpowering. This experience was topped off by the phenomenal service of Elsie our server who took her time explaining the menu and checking on us to make sure we were experiencing the Azteca authenticity. Great time and we will be back.

Los Chapos Tacos - Brandon, FL…read more I've been on a serious hunt for truly authentic Mexican food in the Brandon/Tampa area for years, and this little hole-in-the-wall next to the HCA hospital absolutely nailed it. I ordered the Al Pastor burrito -- twice in one week -- specifically to test consistency. Both visits were outstanding. The flavors were vibrant and clean: fresh pineapple, bright cilantro, perfectly seasoned meat, and you could even pick up subtle notes of cinnamon. Everything tasted fresh, balanced, and genuinely authentic, not over-processed or masked with heavy sauces. What really stood out was the care. The staff checked on me while I was eating, genuinely wanting to make sure everything was right. It felt less like a restaurant and more like being in someone's kitchen -- that comforting "grandma making sure you're fed right" kind of energy. Warm, welcoming, and personal. I've traveled extensively in Mexico and lived in Florida for years trying to find a place that hits the mark for real Mexican flavor -- and this place absolutely delivers. Hands down, this is the best Mexican food I've found in this area in a long time. If you're anywhere near Brandon and love authentic Mexican food, do yourself a favor and stop here. You won't regret it.

The flautas were okay, but they also lacked flavor, and we had to add hot sauce just to enjoy them. The rice was the only thing I really liked. What made the experience worse was the service. I politely explained that I didn't like the birria tacos and had barely touched them, and asked if I could exchange them or have them removed from the bill. I was told no. The manager only offered 30% off and still expected me to pay for food I didn't eat. It felt very dismissive and unprofessional. At one point, she even said in Spanish that she wanted us out of the restaurant, which was extremely rude and made us feel unwelcome. As a server myself, I understand that not every situation is easy to handle, but this was not good service and could have been managed much more professionally. For the price, the food was not worth it. There are much better taco places in the area.

I've been here before with friends a few times, years ago but somehow never wrote a review and hadn't been back. It was time to fix both of those problems. . I stopped in for lunch on a Monday and had my pick of spots in the large, festive- rustic dining room. There are tables and booths aplenty-along with tall stools at the large bar. They bring you a generous basket of chips and salsa right away. The first round is free-they charge after that. The chips are usually fresh and crisp. To me, the salsa needs more heat or spices-but don't go by me-I have tomato issues. My server arrived soon and was so sweet when handling my questions. She helped me make good ordering decisions and also checked on me often, but didn't hover. I went with one of the lunch specials, which was a good deal. I had the Speedy Gonzalez: a beef taco, beef enchilada verde and rice (you could have also chosen beans). It's tasty and filling-and goes down great with those aforementioned skinny margs. I ordered the cheese dip and a side of flour tortillas to dip in it. I just can't resist a bowl of cheese. All this merriment on a Monday afternoon? Si!!! The menu is big-and has echos of the Vallarta's restaurants here in the Bay Area. I'm wondering if it's a sister restaurant. It's in a strip mall, with some parking in front and maybe more in back. There's outdoor seating-and I know they used to have mariachis on certain nights-and people would dance. I should find out if that's still the case. I love mariachis even more than a bowl of cheese. Gran Agave has been here a long time. I think it has a strong local following-and I need to become a regular.

We had a group of nine for a family dinner and waited about an hour for a table, which was understandable for a larger party. Once seated, however, the service was unfortunately very slow. It took about 15-20 minutes just to receive our drinks (seven waters and two margaritas), and our food took roughly an hour to arrive at the table. The restaurant didn't appear to be overly busy, so the long wait times were a bit confusing. Because gratuity was automatically included, it felt like our server may not have been as attentive as expected. The prices were also on the higher side, which made the slow service even more disappointing. That said, I do want to mention that the food itself was very good, which was definitely the highlight of the experience. Overall, while we enjoyed the meal, the customer service left a lot to be desired. I'd consider returning in the future, but only if the service improves.
