We visited the restaurant and easily found parking in the lot. After browsing the menu, we ordered Chicken Tacos for ourselves and Rice and Chicken for our toddler. We got our food order in just 10 minutes, and the chicken tacos were great! They were fulfilling, satisfying, and had a perfect chicken flavor. They are the same, they are nostalgic, they are so good! Unlike a certain "bus" that serves tacos, the amount of meat they give you is definitely generous and all good, no bones, sometimes a little fat of course. I've been going to Taco Loco all my life and this place has consistently been delicious! Everyone is very nice and sweet, just be patient and your food will come out fresh and satisfying. I highly recommend the spicy salsa I could drink it by the gallon. They also have vegetarian options including zucchini, mushrooms, cactus.. They also have a special for every day of the week. They had a variety of options as well as a well stocked dink cooler. I ordered the Carnitas burrito, I was super excited based if if they reviews and the line! The lady said it will be ready in 10 mins. I was like great food and fast, perfect! I figure the food here must be fire!!! Well that was NOT the case!! I was terribly disappointed, despite the friendly service my food took more than 20 mins. The best part of the burrito was the tortilla and the hot sauce... the carnitas was bland. It had NO flavor. It tasted like they boiled the pork with maybe one or two onions and a pice of garlic. 1/2 of my lettuce was wilted, there was no cheese in my burrito. There are so many Mexican Restaurants, food trucks, and pop ups in the Tampa area that put their heart and soul in to their food and you can taste it. You can taste the hard work the process. I have been coming here about once a week for nearly 8 years since before they even moved to this location. Since they Opened their brick and mortar location the service has been definitely decreasing. I always get extra sauce and it has never once been a problem. But this time I spent over $30 on our order and they insisted that I could only get 2 small cups of sauce for the whole order. The person giving me the order spoke no English and the cashier that took my order just wanted to argue with me. I only asked for two extra cups of sauce which shouldn't be a crazy request for a $30 order. The cashier insisted that this was always the policy and I can't get more. If I bought a taco for $2 and change I get one cup so why can I only get 2 for an order 10x the price. She finally told me that I had to pay 70 cents to get the sauce and I agreed and walked back to the order window to pay but she then refused and never gave me my sauce. So over 70 cents this business lost a long time customer. read more

The family and I just came from MyGym for a birthday party and we were hungry, so we stopped here before heading back home. The decor is so authentic, the people were so friendly, and they were bumping Tejano music like it was 1980! I felt like Selena Quintanilla was going to pop out on stage. I originally wanted tacos, but then I saw Menudo and Shrimp Tostadas on the menu! I was torn. I ended up getting Menudo because it was more unique and I could make tacos or tostadas any day. The Menudo was so tender and flavorful! It came with the herbs on the side for me to add to my liking. It was nostalgic because it made me think of the Mexican boy band. I felt old because I asked if my daughter knew Ricky Martin and she said no! Anyways we also got elotes (Tres Amigos) as a starter and it came with 3 full ears of corn. This is one of my favorite spots but lately the customer service has been awful. Everyone is awesome and felt a new lady who doesn't seem to know how to treat and speak to the customers. She doesn't know the prices of things. She doesn't know how to ring a customer up . She argues and gets mad about the sauces but cannot tell you the price for an extra one. I'm going to miss this place but I'm tired of feeling like im paying money to a place that doesn't put customers first. This place is equal parts outstanding and puzzling. So, it has two locations. One is a traditional restaurant located within a shopping center. The other location is a food truck with an outdoor patio, owned by the same people, about 2 miles away from the restaurant. The food is great, some of the best authentic Mexican food in Tampa. Here's the rub. The food menu is exactly the same between the restaurant and food truck, prepared exactly the same, in the same portions, at both the restaurant and food truck. The problem is, the prices for menu items are 55 percent higher at the restaurant than they are at the food truck. My go-to lunch, a taco and a gordita, costs $11 if I get it at the food truck. If I go to the restaurant, that exact same order costs $17. The restaurant is nice, but it is not 5-star dining, and the 55 percent markup blows my mind. I could see maybe 20 or 25 percent, but 55 percent? Outrageous. If you are doing takeout, you should never go to the restaurant, go to the food truck. But it is very good Mexican. read more

Chicken was a little dry but everything had good flavor. Taco salad was good - I made a mistake and didn't fully read all the ingredients so make sure you do if you have a preference. This was my first time at chicken and taco loco and I must say I was pleasantly surprised! I honestly did not think I would enjoy their tacos as much as I did! Let's start from the beginning, my partner and I were in the area and were getting hungry. As per usual, I took my phone out and had yelp help me out on where to eat. This place was only 0.7 miles away and had pretty good reviews. Fast forward, we pulled into the parking lot and off to the left there is a food truck (looks like a permanent one). Due to the social distancing everyone was spread and keeping precautions. Since they are outdoors they also had a nice little eating area off to the side. When it was my turn to order I noticed they had a dispenser of hand sanitizer as well as a sink! I thought this was a great idea and shows that they care about their customers well being. I decided to order 3 shrimp flour tacos and 3 chicken along with a Mexican coke. Total came out to about $22 which was wasn't too bad. I do have to admit that there was a bit of a wait, not sure if they were understaffed but it wasn't too bad. Once we got home these puppies were devoured! I had to remind myself to get a quick picture before they were all gone! The shrimp tasted delicious and fresh and the portions were great, we were stuffed after. I recently met my daughter and her boyfriend for lunch here and I was pleasantly surprised, I would have never noticed this incredible restaurant if I had not been invited for lunch. The food tasted authentically delicious, I had the enchiladas, the portion was incredibly large and the prices were great :) The restaurant is also decorated beautifully with the walls painted with murals. Since my original review I have visited this modest taco stand many times including today, I picked up a big box of steak tacos to go for a fast and easy dinner so I do not have to cook:-) When you pull up the place does not look like much, it is like a food truck yet stays stationary in it's location, they do have a seating area that is covered which is nice. Let me warn you this place is fabulous and the crowd proves it so be prepared, I like to call in my order in advance otherwise the wait can be very lengthy. You order at the window to the left and they will call your name and you pick up your food to the window at the right. Sometimes if you go when they first open at 10am some items may not be available yet like carnitas or Gorditas but if you call in advance you will know and not be disappointed. My favorite menu items are their steak and carnitas flour tacos and Gorditas.....plenty of meat and the flavor is delicious! If you like spicy you have to try their green sauce, it is BOMB....my favorite sauce!! They recently changed locations but they are still on 60, I like this location better as it has much more parking and it's easier to get in and out. I have heard they are planning on opening an actual restaurant in the near future and I can't wait for thart to occur. YES!! I have finally found my taco spot. Delicious, fresh, authentic tacos and tortas.. YES! So good that I and many others braved the rain to order and eat in our cars because why the heck not!! I got the steak tacos with rice and beans, a quesadilla and hotdog for my kids. Their hotdog is literally the size of two hotdogs put together length wise. Only complaint is I ordered a large chips and salsa and was given a little ketchup size container of salsa for my giant bag of chips. The good thing about thier menu is that least you know what you will be eating. They have a large picture menu hanging below the ordering and pick up window. They can be at times very generous when providing your food choice and that's something very few restaurants and other food chain don't do. For example, I ordered the Chilanga Torta, which by the way, was above my expectation. Not only was it a decent size, but they stuff it up with meat. Yummy! Included was guacamole, lettuce, tomato, onions, mushrooms, meat, and jalapenos. It had so much flavor, I was quite impressed. So if you're in the Brandon area, come and check out this place. I have patronized Chicken and Taco Loco's food truck in Brandon @ the Lighthouse Thrift Store parking lot several times and once at their brick and mortar location. I love the food truck since I often grab lunch out after I run errands and it doesn't look odd to eat solo there. You walk up to the permanently parked food truck and place your order in the far left window. There are large menu boards displayed above the windows. You can also grab a cold soda from the refrigerated cases and add it onto your meal. They have a vast selection of Mexican sodas but I love a refreshing bottle of Fanta pineapple soda. I'm pretty basic and always order the ground beef soft tacos in the corn tortillas. They are ordinary yet spectacular in the same mouthful! They come garnished with cabbage, red onions and cilantro and your choice of green or red salsa. Beware, they will charge you $.50 if you ask for extra salsa. I add rice and refried beans for a few more dollars, making my 2 tacos a combo meal. The meat is always savory and flavorful. Both the women who were working both times we went were super friendly and when they didn't have the churro flavor we wanted, one of them gave us the contact info for their restaurant location. We ordered a lot of food the first time and I was extremely impressed than nothing was missing. We had 3 or 4 bags of food and everything we ordered was correct and delicious!
