    Birria tacos were flavorful!
    Edward K.

I was in town for a nearby conference and prepared to dine elsewhere. Ran in to some colleagues that mentioned they were going out for Mexican food. Decided to be a joiner. Our table of 7 was seated immediately on a Monday night. The waitress was pleasant and patient regarding our need for four separate checks. The noise level was reasonable and conducive to conversation. I ordered two entrees instead of an appetizer and an entree. I preferred the birria tacos over the chile rellenos but both were solid. I'm spoiled because I live near a lot of exceptional Mexican restaurants. This didn't live up to those but it did provide our group tasty food and a comfortable place to hang out. Would certainly consider returning next time we're in town.

I came here last year for dinner. This place has been open since 2009 when I was an undergraduate student at SUNY Oswego. Coming back ten years later was a nice memory. I enjoyed the food and the drinks. The service was good and the margaritas were also good. It definitely brought back so many memories. The food was good and it reminded me of my time in Oswego. I remember the margaritas were really good. This is always my first stop when I am back in town. I am happy this place is still open and the food remains good. The prices did go up but it was still considerably cheap considered to prices in New York City. I got the fajitas and the amount of food given was enough to be shared.

At first look, it doesn't appear to be anything special. It's next to a second hand store and doesn't have a ton of curb appeal. However, on the inside it appears to be clean and pretty similar to any other Mexican restaurant. I've been here twice, both times it was during COVID, so I can't speak to how operations normally are. But both times we were there, service was prompt and attentive. We did go in august, right near move in weekend for the college, so we did have to wait a while. No problem, we can be patient. Because of COVID restrictions, we just put our name and phone number down and got a call when our table was ready. I got chicken quesadillas, my boyfriend got a chicken and chorizo dish. The food came quickly once we ordered. I thought everything was delicious! And the food was consistently delicious both times, even though the second time were there they were fairly busy. We will continue to visit this restaurant!

Typical mexican food, but with some of the speediest service I've ever seen at a sit down restaurant.

I guess for local Mexican food consider this to be ok at the most. The margaritas seemed to be from a mix not home made.

He spent 12 years in the casino Industry, then in 2014, started his first juice bar/acai bowl business Pure Raw Juice while living in Baltimore in 2014. He started two other restaurants in Delaware called Daily Veg before moving back top CNY and starting Whacko Gringo as a take out only restaurant serving out of a trailer. Whacko Gringo serves Mexican fair with a twist and acai bowls, and now has a full storefront which includes outdoor seating. Wife and I had passed by Whacko Gringo several times when they were in the trailer. We had always wanted to try it, the menu looked interesting and tasty, but it just didn't work out for one reason or another. They eventually got their storefront and we decided one day we were going to get out there and try them. We walked in pretty early on a Saturday, no one else in the restaurant. Just a couple small tables inside and a couple outside. I ordered the chimichurri beef tacos with rice and black beans, and my wife ordered a burrito bowl and a side of fresh pico and chips. Food seemed to take a while to be made, but it seemed like there were only 2 employees there. Employees were fine for the most part, but pretty indifferent to us being there. When we did get it, we were definitely disappointed. The meat in my tacos had good flavor, but other than that, everything was extremely bland, and my wife felt the same about hers. The pickled veggies, rice, beans, pico had no flavor, we mostly loaded them with hot sauce for some flavor. No salt on the chips, just a disappointing meal. We had high hopes and planned to go back to try more offerings, but we'd probably skip a return trip now.

We've all eaten our fair share of Baja California tacos, Mexican street food and everything was delicious. The steak in the steak elote tacos were tender, juicy, and the elote was spot on: sweet corn, tajin, cotija cheese, sour cream, mayo). The smoked park carnitas were out of this world. Tender, juicy, and great flavor. The chimichurri beef were my dad's favorite, but my mom and I liked the carnitas best and the steak came a close second. The rice and black beans both sadly lacked flavor, however we'd only ordered one portion and it was ample. The in-house fried tortilla chips were great; their seasoning was tasty (a little more salt would've knocked them out of the park) but they were perfectly crisp and crunchy. The dips were all perfect; the pico and guac were so fresh and delicious and the queso was tasty too. The tacos were all generously stuffed. We actually had far more food than we needed, which is not a criticism; it demonstrates how reasonably priced everything is. The establishment itself is well located and has lots of parking and outside seating. Very cute place, too, with a small inside dining area and bar. Wednesdays are $5 margaritas and tacos for dining in. Fantastic deal. Their smoothie bowls sound delicious as did all their other fare. This will be a new family favorite place to eat. So happy to see such delicious tacos in Oswego.

Last summer, the dining room was so hot that people took their dishes outdoor to the picnic tables to eat. Tres Primos has good food and lots of it so it's often very crowded at dinner time. We were fortunate to have come for an early dinner and were the only diners on a snowy day. Service is with a smile and the people that work here seem to enjoy each other's company and enjoy serving customers. The tables and chairs are the best, colorful with beautiful depictions of Mexico. For whatever you order, be prepared to have it served on a platter that's fit for a king, or in my case queen. Food is good and fresh. There is plenty to drink, including a variety of beers and cocktails . There's nothing like drinking a corona to top off a Mexican meal. I ordered what is really a sampler plate with a little bit of everything. I had a Chalupa, a quesadilla, tacos, and a member of other things. Of course, this comes complete with rice and beans. Needless to say, I had a second meal with the leftovers the following night. P.S., they have very good salsa that is served as soon as you were seated with your chips. Don't be afraid to ask for a refill.
