The food is delicious, and it's really cheap. If the menu items were $3+ dollars more each, I wouldn't get it. Being cheap is one of the reasons I come here. I like the combos, #9 is a burrito, taco (w lettuce and cheese), a heap of beans, and a mound of rice. It's $7.50. You can't beat it for a sit-down restaurant. Definitely better than fajita grill. The only (small) complaints I have are that the margarita price is kinda pricey for what it is (but there are specials throughout the week on them), and that there are no descriptions for what is in/on the food. What's in their burrito? Enchilada? I really don't know. (Btw, in their burrito combo, it is basically just meat inside, there's no lettuce/tomato/cheese/etc inside of it. Very good authentic Mexican food. I ordered a tamale on the side and it was delicious. I was told by our waitress that her grandmother made them. Tamales this good should not be just a side dish. Margaritas were made from a mix, but that seems to be the norm in most places, Mexican or not. Absolutely horrible experience. Me and my boyfriend were so excited to try Azteca's for the first time since we hard it was so good. I'm a vegetarian, but not a very picky one. I could not even eat there. Under their vegetarian section it says in fine print "all rice cooked in chicken bullion". A few options in their vegetarian section offer rice and beans. Their server said that all the rice is cooked with chicken bullion. Let me ask you management, Is chicken bullion really a necessity to cook rice? And why don't you make plain rice for people who don't want chicken bullion in their rice? You will not be getting my service. Fix your pathetic excuse for a vegetarian menu. This is a wonderful place to go! It has great food and it's reasonably priced! You do have a bit of a wait on busy nights ( weekends and Thursday nights ) however, if you plan accordingly, you can get in pretty quickly. These are folks that listen. The food wasn't great. I don't understand why they would choose to make tacos with ground beef, that's not authentic Mexican tacos. Besides that, the ground beef was bland; not much flavor. Quality of food has gone down in the last year. I ordered Pollo Loco, used to be my favorite dish. The amount of chicken was less than half of what was a year ago. My daughter chicken fajitas, same thing. Mostly all peppers and onions, not much chicken and prices are jacked up. I loved this place! They have awesome homemade salsa and tortillas that's included with your meal. I don't like spicy food so I was hesitant to try it, but Azteca's food isn't "hot" at all. They use authentic Mexican spices that give the food a delicious flavor without the heat. They have a few different kinds of hot sauce at the table for people who want to "kick it up a notch" (my husband did it and he loved the sauce). The service was great (and fast) and the prices were very good. I had some fajitas and absolutely loved them. They have a good selection - some vegetarian-friendly selections - and you don't need to spend much to get a full belly. I would definitely recommend this place to people who want to try something different in Oswego. I'm a big fan and that's one of my new favorite spots in the area. read more

Could someone tell me why the alleged "salsa" looked and tasted like canned tomato sauce with cilantro mixed in...Just terrible tasting. I ordered the fajita taco salad...someone forgot the salad part...very small shell filled with nothing but overcooked fajita stuff drowning in runny refried beans, with a tiny bit of chopped lettuce around the outside edge of the shell. What part of salad don't they understand? Is lettuce expensive now? Also, I ordered some guacamole to help me eat the so- called "salad", it had large chunks of onion it; I guess as a filler to make the guacamole go further. Who puts chunks of onion in good, traditional guacamole? Not a fan! My dinner was disappointing to say the least. When they opened up years ago, they were great, but now they are being cheap and cutting corners...I wonder if they use real cheese?!? Probably not! read more

I don't even know where to begin. I realize my expectations might be different having lived throughout the Southwest near the Mexican border for years, but this was not anywhere close to Mexican food - not even Americanized Mexican, Tex-Mex or anything close to it. My son's chicken quesadillas were so dry he couldn't even chew the meat, and I still don't know what I ate - I ordered a Chile Relleno, got half a chile smothered with melted cheese and ranchero sauce. I read another reviewer state that the manager said that's a relleno here in NY, which I've never heard of in my life - a relleno by definition (and by their own menu description) is stuffed and breaded, and I don't know where the ranchero sauce came from as this is definitely not part of a chile relleno. And the steak quesadilla, well, it was god awful - the "beef tips" tasted like Dinty Moore beef stew, so much that I'm 100% sure they use canned beef tips instead of actual meat, and canned refried beans as well. The last straw was that they left off the french fries from my son's kids meal, which I imagine would have been the best part of the meal (we ordered from Door Dash so not much we could do to rectify this other than complain after the fact). The only plus was that despite it not being what it claimed to be, the "relleno" was actually pretty tasty, which is more than I can say for the rest of our order - they do seem to make a decent ranchero sauce. Honestly can't believe I'm saying this, but you can get better and more authentic Mexican food at Taco Bell. read more

This is the most horrible Mexican food I've ever had. The tortillas taste like they were bought from a wal mart in Texas and the beans taste highly processed. Their enchiladas are of the quality of microwaveable dinners. When the waitress asked my fiancé and I if we enjoyed our meal, I wanted to say no. I wanted to say "are you f***ing kidding me?". I stopped in with some work pals for happy hour once, and it was fantastic! The chimichangas are fantastic (get one of each on the beef and chicken!), though I recommend getting the "salad" on the side so you can just enjoy the flavor of the chimichangas. The happy hour margaritas are cheap and large - if you're a smaller woman like me, two is definitely plenty! The prices are good, and the atmosphere is fun and welcoming. Third time here. Last week (Friday) was a big disappointment. Fajita was overcooked - meats were dry or overcooked. Rice was dry and in chunks, only the beans were very good however. They seem to be getting careless with quality when they are busy. Service is still very good. read more

We had dinner there last night. We were seated in the bar although there were clearly tables available in the restaurant. We didn't mind and we got our drinks, appetizer, and food quickly. After that we were ignored. They never asked us if we needed or wanted anything else, and actually started vacuuming around us while we were still eating.
