ok I went here this morning for breakfast. Very first visit and WELLLL...just not very excited about returning. The young man waiting on people was also the bus boy and cashier which means he was touching dirty plates and silverware money and then people's orders and I never even seen him stop to wash his hands. There was a discrepancy between the waitress and a customer over being charged for a coffee refill so I passed on my refill. I can't imagine being charged for a coffee refill but it was my first visit so SURPRISE!!! and then the young man's demeanor was as abrasive as sandpaper on my behind. SALTY young man! It just wasn't what I expected at all but the food was pretty good me and my Gf had a ham, egg and cheese on a bagel with home fries I requested a steak and cheese but the kid said they couldn't do that ..... The cinnamon roll pancakes are amazing. I got the poached eggs over corned beef hash with one cinnamon roll pancake on the side. My daughter got a make your own omelette with tons of veggies and her own cinnamon roll pancake. Everything was delicious but we both thought the pancake was the star. The coffee was very good for a diner too. Simply decorated but immaculately clean and all of the staff were so friendly and responsive. Wish we tried it out sooner! read more

Our server was quick and made sure all our needs were taken care of even though they were extremely busy. For three people we only paid around $50 for breakfast and their portions are good. The food was absolutely delicious. We each finished our plates! They even prepared a roast at 8 in the morning for my sisters boyfriend. Their coffee is also delicious and I love that they give you free refills on them. This looks like a family owned establishment. I inferred that the gentleman walking around picking up and giving directions is part of the family that owns it. I don't know that for a fact, I'm assuming. They cared for this place. It isn't the newest or nicest looking place but it is well cleaned and it's someone's baby. The ambiance is very family-like. A nice feel when you have been living out of hotels for weeks. The food was good, well salted, but flavorful. It was enough food to satisfy so no worries there. The servers were great. This was my second time at this diner and the first time for my Grandmother who accompanied me. The atmosphere was nice and cozy, it made me feel right at home! Inside is has some table and booth options for groups which is nice too. The place is also family owned and run so it was fun to see the family pictures on the walls then having some of them actually take orders and serve the tables. From the second we walked in, we knew we should have walked out. We weren't greeted for at least 5 minutes, then when we finally were it was over 20 minutes just to order drinks. Then, we asked for straws for our kids cups and after 10 more minutes I had to go up and get them myself. All in this time, the waitresses were incredibly rude and passive aggressive. Then, because there is more, we told our waitress there may be another joining us but maybe not, she told another person and she came and harassed us about their policy that they don't seat until everyone is there. There were 4 of us there ready to order and eat. They continued to ignore us for another 20 minutes and then our other friends did show (2 more) and they finally came over and asked if we were ready to order to which I stated "yes, we have been ready to order for over 20 minutes" to which she started yelling at me and arguing with me about their policy. I told her I'm from out of town and that policy is no where on their walls and she continued to scream at me that she didn't care it was their policy. I told her I was writing this review and she said she didn't care. So. Enjoy this. The food was disgusting. No flavor. Bland, cold and even salt,pepper and hot sauce couldn't fix it! Service was great, attentive, friendly. Food was good; Nothing to complain about but nothing to get excited about either. They have a lot of booths which is nice for privacy, also a number of tables in the center area that can be combined for larger parties. Counter service provided as well. So I came in today to have lunch while I waited for my car to charge. As I was finishing up eating the blond lady manager was quite snippy and rude to her employees, by making a very snide comment about having 3 girls to take orders. Then she sat down with an employee in the dining area , grant you it was not in the middle of the dining room, but she was loud enough that it didn't matter. This lady manager was embarrassing, berating and reprimanding her in front all of the patrons. This manager is not a leader but a boss... unfortunate. Due to her lack of professionalism and lack of awareness for others around her, I will no longer be dining there. I will not support a business that is not considerate of their employees. read more

As I've had nothing but great meals here before, I came in for lunch expecting the same. I asked the server how rare the roast beef was for the sandwich and she recommended I get the prime rib sandwich special for lunch as I'd surely be able to have it medium rare. My mom ordered the grilled chicken sandwich. My mom's sandwich looked amazing. It was tender and juicy. My sandwich, however, didn't seem to be prime rib at all. It was thin slices of mostly gray meat. There wasn't an au jus, either. It lacked flavor. My mom had asked for mayo and the server gave her blue cheese. I ended up using it for my sandwich. I was really disappointed in the quality of the dish. It wasn't worth $11-which is $4-5 more than the other sandwiches, including my mom's. Maria's definitely provides great value for your buck. I went here the other morning for breakfast and for around 20 bucks we had pancakes, sausage, bacon, eggs, and home fries alongside two cups of coffee. The pancakes were huge, and the other portions were fairly generous as well. The only down side? The home fries and bacon were a bit overcooked, and while I ordered our eggs over-medium they came out over-easy. The servers were slow to reach our table even though the restaurant wasn't entirely filled. Other than that, I enjoyed my time at Maria's and would go again. I went with three other individuals one weekend, half of us getting breakfast and the other half getting lunch. I was underwhelmed to say the least. The food took an exorbitant amount of time for a hardly full restaurant. I get sometimes things are slow because of that span of time where people may be ordering two different meals, but getting orders correct should never be an issue. My chicken philly was ordered with light onions. Instead, I got, what seemed to be, extra onions and no peppers. Fries were good. Prices weren't outrageous, making this just another average Oswego restaurant. Inside decor was newly redone and comfortable, but the outside leaves a bit to be desired as it currently stands. Don't judge a book by its cover, kids! Also, this is nitpicking, but the playlist in the restaurant had about 5 songs on it. read more

After waiting for a table to be cleared off for however long, we were brought to our table without a problem. After deciding what we wanted, a man came up to us telling us we couldnt have a dog in here and we told him we had papers. He then had the nerve to ask what the dog serviced which is highly against Hyppa policy. when we told him he didn't have to right to ask he than proceeded to say that he was choosing not to serve us and told us to leave. We had just sat down and getting settled and so our pup was in her dog carrier getting adjusted just as a baby would And he said "we'll maybe if your dog was calmer it's be another story" like make up your mind dude! My friends and I walked in around 12:45, and the server just looked at us instead of greeting us. We told her we were a party of three, and she told us to sit anywhere we like, which was fine, but with no smile or any kind of greeting. We were given menu around 12:55 after asking for them. We were short one set of silverware, which the server did not notice, so we had to ask for it. The food came out pretty quick, and it was good, but the order came out wrong. One of us ordered sunny side up for the eggs, but he got a plain omelet. The server did not return to our table until we were almost done with food, so we did not ask them to remake the eggs. Stopped in for brunch and was pleased to find that the staff at Maria's Family Restaurant had no problem serving breakfast as well as lunch for our party. The breakfast dishes ordered by our party looked very tasty, and I decided to test a traditional standby of any diner, the hot roast beef sandwich. Much to my delight, my order arrived piping hot with a generous portion of mashed potatoes, all slathered in a hearty gravy. The staff was pleasant, and the service was quick. This place has good food but the hospitality is non existent. I've been there a few times and each time I felt like they were in a rush to get us out of there and even felt rushed ordering and paying the bill. This last time I ordered to go and even then had a poor experience. The owner is well known for her screaming and has never even looked friendly. The only one that I've seen that was respectful was the server with blonde hair. I'm starting to reconsider going there at all because I could get the same quality food at Wades and have a positive experience, being able to relax rather than rush and be yelled at. read more

Going to Maria's is like visiting family. The owner, Maria, and her staff are friendly and courteous. If you don't know if you'll like something on the menu, Maria will send over a sample for you to try before ordering....which usually convinces me to choose the sample.
