Providing an update to my previous review; Firstly, it's much better to come in the winter than the summer. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Last summer, the dining room was so hot that people took their dishes outdoor to the picnic tables to eat.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Tres Primos has good food and lots of it so it's often very crowded at dinner time. We were fortunate to have come for an early dinner and were the only diners on a snowy day. Service is with a smile and the people that work here seem to enjoy each other's company and enjoy serving customers. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The tables and chairs are the best, colorful with beautiful depictions of Mexico.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] For whatever you order, be prepared to have it served on a platter that's fit for a king, or in my case queen. Food is good and fresh. There is plenty to drink, including a variety of beers and cocktails . There's nothing like drinking a corona to top off a Mexican meal. I ordered what is really a sampler plate with a little bit of everything. I had a Chalupa, a quesadilla, tacos, and a member of other things. Of course, this comes complete with rice and beans. Needless to say, I had a second meal with the leftovers the following night. P.S., they have very good salsa that is served as soon as you were seated with your chips. It works but just barely. I heard rave reviews about Tres Primos so I gave it a shot. We went on a weekday evening. We entered and the place is small but only a few tables were taken. We waited a few minutes before we were acknowledged and another few before we were sat. Another several for drinks. The appetizers of chips, salsa, and guac came out fast. Dinner was mediocre, similar to most other Mexican restaurants in the area. My friend had a taco salad and reports it tasted fresher than other places. It also took a while for someone to bring us a check, hard to tell if you're supposed to pay at the entrance. I'm sure we'll be back but I won't be expecting greatness read more

By far Tres Primos has some of THE BEST Mexican cuisine I have ever eaten in this area. From the cocktails, to the starters and ending with the entrees everything was absolutely delicious! Our meal started with them giving us the wrong drink order. As the night continued we had to wait 50 minutes for our small order. Our waitress was not seen at all throughout the night. When we finally asked about our meal they were rude with there answer. Then when we finally got our food the chicken was unseasoned. Came here on a recommendation from my boss. Typically used to Tex mex so authentic was rather new to me. Got the primos special with chicken and slow roasted pork chorizo in it covered with queso Mexican rice and beans. Freaking amazing such and amazing juicy blend of flavor and texture. This is going to be a frequent place to visit for me. Upbeat fun Spanish music I found myself hopping around to and a nice comfy dining room. Staff was friendly and willing to answer questions and the chips and salsa before we even ordered was an added amazing flavorful bonus. I'm a sucker for chips and salsa but these took the cake. Went to Tres Primos for the 1st time Saturday evening after recommendations from friends. It was only a 10 min wait, but we were told to wait outside. They had tables in the entryway (I'm assuming for social distancing) so there was no where to wait inside. Unfortunately we were sat at one of those tables right next to the door. It was a chilly day so every time the door opened we got hit with the cool air. I was very surprised that chips and salsa are not an automatic thing they bring to the table. You have to order them and they cost extra. I was willing though as you cant go out for Mexican and not have chips and salsa. Honestly they weren't as good as our favorite Mexican place that gives them complementary. The chips didn't taste fresh and home made. I ordered Carnitas. They came with rice and beans. They brought them out on the biggest plate I've ever seen. It wasn't necessary as the food was extremely spread out. (See picture) The carnitas were good. I wish they a had served some sort of pico, salsa, or sauce with it as it just needed a little something. The rice and beans I did not like. The beans had no flavor and were overwhelmed with cheese. The rice was a little undercooked. Service was quick but our server seemed impatient and annoyed. It could be due to the fact that a fight broke out in the next room while we were sitting there. It was hard to read our bill and make sure everything was right because they apparently don't have a POS system. They wrote it all by hand and our server did not have neat writing. I figured that the dollar amount seemed about right and just went by that. I have a few other Mexican restaurants I like and 1 I absolutely love so safe to say I won't be taking the hike to Elbridge for this Mexican restaurant again. read more

For years I've wanted to try this spot and finally got there to make it happen. We went in a Friday at 6pm. We waited about 40 minutes for a table for 6. The dining room is a good size but not huge. It probably seats 30 people. They were prompt with drinks and you get complimentary chips and salsa. I had the fajitas tejana (?). It is the fajita option with chicken, steak and shrimp. A friend got the same thing and only got 1 shrimp! I got 4 in mine, so some inconsistencies there. It came with a side of rice and beans. The flavor and portion was good on mine. I really think that everyone's was a lot of food. I ordered the guacamole salad. The guacamole was ok but the lettuce it was on was watery and just too wet. There was standing water in the bottom of he dish. My husband liked it better than the Mexican restaurant that we most recently tried before this. I would say it was probably similar. read more

Was recommended by one of my bosses to come eat at this spot, and didn't think I was going to come until I saw it randomly on the drive home from a brewery trip near the finger lakes. The service here is very quick; we ordered and had our food within 5-8 minutes, no joke. The portions are big, but the cost is a bit much. I ordered 3 enchiladas with red sauce. The chicken enchilada was standard, the ground beef unimpressive and bland, and the shredded beef was surprisingly very good. If and when I come back I think I will get all 3 shredded beef. The enchilada red sauce is decent but could've used a bit more spice. One thing I noticed with the presence of tapatio and cholula sauce at each table, which I really appreciated, compared to some other "Mexican" restaurants in the area that have only Tabasco and Franks Red Hot. read more

The night started off very rocky, we stood in a line for 30 minutes without being spoken to by anyone. The two waiters on the clock said it was just them for the night, so clearly and understaffing issue but it would have been nice to at least be acknowledged. Once seated, we were helped fairly quickly. The food took a bit long to come out, but it was so good. Also these portions are humongous as are the plates. It isn't authentic mexican, but it's pretty good! I got a fajita burrito and it was super yummy. They were doing cash only which was a bit annoying, but fine of course. Also they charge like $5 total for chips and salsa. Overall, a good experience, but not sure I would head back after that kind of a wait just to be acknowledged. read more

As much as we always enjoyed the food here, being told we had to pay for additional chips when we ordered guacamole dip, and that only cash is accepted for under $20 at the end of our meal, as we were paying separately did not make for a pleasant ending. Will be a while before we return. read more

I am in love. One of the best Mexican I have had in a really long time! We went for dinner on Friday night, the place was packed and we waited 30 mins to be seated but it was soo worth the wait! My husband ordered fajita primos and I ordered the pollo amigo and mango margarita. The chips and salsa were delicious and so fresh! The rice and beans were great. My wife and I were out in Weedsport at a local small brewery and were craving Mexican BADLY. Naturally, I came to Yelp, and as usual, I was not disappointed. Tres Primos was only a couple miles away in Elbridge. Parking lot seemed pretty full...usually a good sign. We were sat right away when we walked in, at a table right by the front door. Pretty cold on a January night, but the dining room of the very small restaurant was completely full. Only maybe 10 tables in the entire place. Nice bar in the dining room. My wife and I looked over the menu and everything looked great. Chips and salsa were served as usual for most Mexican places. Good, slightly spicy salsa. I ordered the chimichangas with beef tips and my wife went for the Primo special, a burrito stuffed with chicken and chorizo covered in a queso sauce. Food was cooked and brought quickly. Everything was DELICIOUS. My chimichangas were great, chunks of flavorful beef tips inside, smothered in mole and queso sauces. Great flavor for the Spanish rice. I pass on refried beans. My wife's dish was also very tasty and she was very pleased as well...high praise, she's hard to please when it comes to Mexican fare. Prices were reasonable and comparable to similar restaurants. Service was friendly, and for the most part, fast. While it's a small restaurant, they also have a small staff, and there were only two servers who were running back and forth constantly. I don't think I saw either of them stop the entire time I was there, so their timing wasn't bad at all, considering the circumstances. Unexpectedly good. It's the last place we expected to find good Mexican food, out in Elbridge next to a trailer park, but it impressed us and we'll definitely go back if we're in the area. read more

So, although it was good enough, I would not say it was 4.5 stars. Overall I was satisfied with my experience. The service was friendly, cordial and fast. The atmosphere was casual and comfortable. The food was average to slightly above average, especially for "authentic" Mexican food. But, I guess it's good Mexican for rural CNY and the $ value was good for what you got. Now, please take my comments with a grain of salt. I spent several years in Southern California and I take a week long escapes from reality every year on a Mexico vacation. I have experience with real Mexican & I always search out real authentic (Un-Americanized) food. So, my expectations are high for "authentic" Mexican. There is nothing about this restaurant that warrants a warning to avoid at all measures, but there really was not much that would draw me back. I would not avoid it or advise you to try someplace else, but for me, I would not recommend it. But, hey, we are all different and what I think is average others think is very good. Oh my gosh this place is amazing! Last time I was there I ordered Los Primos and my dinner guest ordered the chimichanga.....they each came out on 2 ft. long dinner platters that were serving as our plates! (see my picture to really appreciate the size!) They were huge! Both of our dishes were very tasty, authentic and priced reasonably. We had heard that it can get fairly crowded so we arrived at 5:15 and was seated immediately. Within a half hour the place was packed. This was my fourth time there and I had been pleased every time. My guest was majorly impressed and will certainly want to dine there again soon. Elbridge is not the type of little village you would expect to find this kind of restaurant, but I am very glad it is right down the road. What a unexpected treasure! read more
