Have to admit, the last two visits did prove that the chicken soup is not the same as it was the first time I had it there (not as much chicken, was bits and pieces instead of the usual shredded chicken, not as much flavor, a little bland and the only thing moving this rating from 5 to 4 stars), so it was kept me away, but I decided this visit I would try something different. Got the shrimp with mushrooms, rice and beans. So much flavor! Mushrooms were deliciously sautéed and, as the vegan's meat, I must say they were very juicy. Now, let's tawlk about that guacamole that I cannot get enough of. It's prepared in front of you, with as little (or as much) of anything you request. Wanted to some authentic Mexican food so I decided to order online from this place. The food was delicious and plentiful. A complete meal with a Rusa (drink) for under $25 is a win for me. The rice was a little dry but it was still eatable. They give you complimentary chips with salsa and a Mexican slaw(I don't know the name of it) it's so goooood. I ordered the shrimp Fahita. shrimps were over cooked and very small. the vegetables which came with the plate were not any better. service was ok until it came time to pay the bill. when the waitress brought the bill and while signing on the credit card machine which she brought to the table , I noticed that she quickly pushed on the 20% for the tips Without asking me!!!!!!!! I really liked this place, from the decor to the service, it was a good experience. The fresh guacamole made at your table was delicious, but the salsa was lacking. Very oniony and thin. The lunches were all around $10 and i got 2 enchiladas. They were very small, but good. My guest got the lunch burrito which looked great as well. I was so excited to try Azteca because I love Mexican food and saw the many good reviews. Unfortunately, I won't be going back. I started with a frozen margarita, which had little flavor and was not blended hardly at all. So many large chunks of ice that even sipping was difficult. Also, the menu had no descriptions of what came on or with each item, which made ordering difficult. I came on my moms birthday I tipped 10 dollars I don't have much but I gave what I have and the server started to explain really rudely how I had to tip 21 dollars he basically started to talk to us like we were stupid my mom was confused and we just looked at him he took the money with an attitude and left the table in such a rude manner. I was hankering for some good Mexican food and wanted to try someplace different than our usual. It was $20ish for a basic ACP. The atmosphere was nice but I've definitely had better AND cheaper ACP's elsewhere. My boyfriend also got a steak ACP which, again, usually isn't a super expensive dish and our bill total before tip was probably around $45-$55. That being said our server was attentive and very nice. Worst Mexican food I've ever had. I know it's not authentic first of all but for the prices they charge it could be way better. The salsa is horrible. Tastes like a store bought taco mix packet. For Cinco de Mayo we wanted to sit on a patio and enjoy mexican food and good weather. We got to Aztecs around 5:15. We checked in at the front and they called when the table was ready around 20 minutes later. I was impressed because there were tons of people waiting and we were able to get a patio seat! Chips and salsa were brought out right away. We ordered guacamole that was made in front of our table and queso as well. Both were delicious. For our entrees we got a variety of things, enchiladas, fajita quesadilla, chimichanga, arroz con pollo, and rice and beans. The portions are huge! Where to start... Ok, watery salsa and not much flavor. Then i ordered Carnitas tacos, I love good carnitas. These were terrible. They came in soft shells that were slimy and soggy, almost gelatinous. Felt like a wet dish rag in my hand. I ended up taking the 'carnitas' out of them and eating that with a fork. It was diced up really small and not very good either. That was $16! My wife had ranchero combo which consisted of the toughest leather thin piece of meat and 4 shrimp. That was $26 - for lunch. I think the cow must have walked all the way from Mexico to NC it was so tough. So $50 for Mexican lunch for 2 people and it was hard to even eat it, it was so bad. Guess what? I was there for lunch this past week and after drinking a couple of sips from my water glass noticed THREE dead ants in my glass. I immediately notified my waitress who picked up my glass, stared into it and made a face as she quickly removed it. A few minutes later she brought another glass of water, set it down and asked if she could get me to go containers for my uneaten lunch (never apologized or said a word about the ants). Told her I only wanted the bill and had no desire to eat any more of my food. I was charged full price, paid for everything and as I left, the hostess at the front desk asked how my meal was.
