Excellent all around! Stumbled upon this place driving by and so glad we gave it a shot. Great service, greeted and seated immediately and our server was friendly. We started with a margarita flight - delicious, and the chips and salsa- both excellent. I ordered flautas and my guest ordered the chori pollo. Good food fast service actually they came by the table a little bit too much . 6 times I believe they asked how is everything?

Stopped by here last week for a quiet bite of dinner. Service was very good, from the front of house to the waiter. Quick and friendly with service and the food came out quickly, the chips and salsa are always great of course but I got the chicken with rice and queso and it was DELICIOUS! First time in, our server was Santiago, he was fast, friendly and attentive which is everything you want in a server! Food has great flavor! I'm from Jalisco, so I was thrilled to see a Cantarito on the menu, it's a steep price at $25, however it's nostalgic and worth the price to me personally- Such a refreshing drink that isn't sugar loaded and just the right amount of tequila. I like the food and generally recommend this restaurant. There are three things that frustrate me considerably and they significantly impact how often we go. 1. $4.25 for soft drinks? Sure, make money on drinks; you're not running a restaurant for your health, but $4!! Because of this, we decide against going 50% of the time we otherwise would. Because of this, when we do go, it is well understood, we all are getting water without exception. If they charged $2.00-$3.00 for soft drinks, we'd go far more often and we'd spend money on drinks. Again, $4? Shame on you. 2. The robot gets in the way and doesn't appear to serve a purpose. Prior to its existence, waiters would bring our food and set it on our table. Now waiters follow the robot around and put the food it carries on our table. What's the value-add of this thing? Pointless several thousand dollars spent on an obstacle. I'm sure the robot is why they decided to charge $4 for a Coke. 3. The men's bathroom has no divider between the urinal and the sink. If you're using the urinal and someone uses the sink, you're basically presenting yourself to them. It's a lose-lose situation. I mean, we're men, it's a men's bathroom and to a great extent I'm fine in a situation wherein I need to do what I gotta do and someone does what they gotta do and neither of us cares about the others' situation. Unfortunately there's no option to ignore the dude using the urinal if you need to wash your hands.....Nah, Imma come back later or hold it until I get back home. I wonder how many people have used the stall and returned to their table with dookie fingers because they were too uncomfortable to wash their hands beside a stranger's wiener. In summary, junk the robot, charge $2.50 for Coke and put up a $40 partition beside the urinal and great success will follow! It's the simple things that make all the difference. It's mid April. I'll come back around mid-May and expect to see improvement. If not, then Azteca, Monterrey and maybe even Taxco get our business. read more

Staff does not care about you,...it's all about the money,...the Bar area has a local barber with bad teeth that is rude,....and the Bartender and staff will make faces to each other about their customers,.....it has 2 owners 1 sits and stares at you she doe not try to smile or introduce herself,...the other is a token,...she is suppose to go around and met and greet,...she is a fake person,....I will never go there again! No bueno. As nice as the staff was, the food was bad. I really wanted to like this place but the food was just so bad. Things that were supposed to be hot were not like my burrito. First visit to here. They have been open about 4 months. We have been customers of all of the local Mexican restaurants in Charlotte area for several decades so there's a lot to compare to. Food - good presentation, average taste, good portion sizes, better than average chips and salsa. Service - excellent... the best we've had in the last few years. Bar - lots of seating, good selection, higher prices. Prices - higher than just about every Mexican restaurant in the area. Steak fajitas 18.95, three street tacos $14, a soda is 3.25 and a small side of sour cream 2.75! I could go on, but the prices were was the only disappointment. Atmosphere - very clean and attractive, no high-top tables, bright lights (why do all Mex places do this?), a little patio are near the street. Located at the end of a small strip mall in the old pizza spiga space. Might go back after some time and give them one more try. read more

Recently moved to area and live very close to La Authentica. The reviews seem ok so decided to give them a try. First time the servers were ok and the food was par at best. I love margaritas and usually get a top shelf added so I tried and it was so bad I pushed myself to finish it. With my walkout price over $60 for one person I thought I wouldn't return but with the place so close to home I tried it again. Tried the La Authentica burrito and it was actually pretty good. I opted for beer instead of their margaritas, so things can be so bad there's no going back. read more

this restaurant is okay. not the best though. the restaurant is too overpriced, and the drinks are way too expensive, you have to pay $4.00 for a glass of a soft drink. you also have to pay two extra dollars if you want to pay with card. besides of the price the food is pretty good, not really worth the money though. they have a huge menu, and a lot to choose from. the vibe is also really good and the restaurant is put together. i honestly feel like if they lowered the prices a little bit, i would rate a 5 star. the restaurant is also pretty clean too. read more
