This is my nieces and my new meetup spot. She is now of drinking age. The food here totally rocks. The drinks were good too. I met a perfect stranger (teacher) and she just sat with us at the bar. I think we sat there for almost 3 hours. Great food, great service, great people. read more

I feel complicated feelings about this place. First off, the food is dope. It slaps every time. The food is quick. The restaurant furniture and vibes needs some attention. Service is always pretty quick, but the staff is always sitting in a booth eating snacks and watching loud videos on their phones. I do not like the ambiance because of that. Service at Puerto Vallarta is always prompt and the food is always delicious. WE love their tacos and their chicken con crema is amazing!

The cheese dip was picked up Togo. It was 1st almost $10 for a small bowl. The chips are stale. The entire family (it's a family owned restaurant) was eating and the bar and quite busy to take my order. When I was trying to pay, the lady text a couple of messages before she could take my money. No one said thank you, come again or go fly a kite. This used to be a nice restaurant with reasonably nice people to deal with. Only now, they have taken my last $10. We live in the neighborhood and have walked for Donna on many evenings. We will gladly drive elsewhere our business is appreciated and the food is fresh. read more

Had fish tacos for lunch. This was my first visit since it has changed ownership. Dining room is very small but cozy and comfortable. Service was friendly and attentive. Sanitation score was 100%. Food was good but not great. Chips and salsa preceded meal but chips were stale. Will need to return for dinner before giving a more thorough review. We've been in NC for a couple of months. Haven't found anything close to San Diego, CA Mexican food until today. Read some of the previous reviews so thought we'd try it out. This is going to be one of our regular hangouts now. Well that is, if we are too lazy to cook at home. The service was great, very friendly. Chips were hot and salsa was fresh. Food came out fast and hot. Very flavorful and plenty of it. My husband was stuffed and couldn't finish his 2 item combo ( that never happens!). Chicken was seasoned perfectly. Very flavorful!! Authentic beans and rice were perfect to round off our meals. Coming from San Diego we are pretty picky, but Puerto Vallarta definitely didn't disappoint! We will definitely be back again. read more

Fantastic little spot! Is has a cute inside and great family atmosphere. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The food is well priced with large portions and every bit of it is delicious!! I didn't take pictures of our food, but the presentation is great. I personally had the Super Chimichanga with chicken, and the chicken was very juicy and flavorful, the guacamole was fresh, the refried beans were wonderful! The Horchata is also wonderful here! Sweet with just enough cinnamon be be distinct but not over powering. I am only visiting the area, but if I were to live here, I would definitely be a regular here!! Highly recommend! read more

I'm saddened. I love the taste of some of their menu items, but they skimp when you order take out/curbside and overcharge. Haven't eaten inside the restaurant yet because I was so unimpressed by the Pandemic Curbside. They aren't as bad as Monterrey down the highway there when it comes to actually putting meat crumbs in your carry out container with a literal tablespoon or two of Mexican rice (that's a place you're better off dining in or you're gonna cry when you get home and discover you'll need to hit up McDonalds in an hour or so or make a sandwich). But still. They can do better. There is a place in Sun Valley and another place in Indian Trail that is well worth the extra few minutes drive for the taste, the experience, the service and the wonderful feeling of walking out so full you have 911 already dialed and ready to hit send just in case you can't make it to the car. read more

This place was good. The food was good. The service was good. I didn't like that they didn't really have much aguas frescas. I ended up ordering an horchata, but I really wanted something else. I love the fresh Tamarindo juice and not the Jarritos kind. For some reason very few mexican restaurants carry that, and they were one of them. I ordered El Padrino, which consists of a steak with eggs, rice, beans and an avocado salad. I must say my steak was small and my eggs were fried hard. For a dish like that, at other Mexican restaurants that I've been to... would cook the eggs over-easy to over- medium, so the yolk would be a little runny. But I was never asked how I wanted my steak or eggs cooked. Other than that it was good. read more

My sons enchiladas were awful, when a 15 year old boy ready for dinner can't finish you know there is a problem. The food is not fresh or authentic. The 3 taco combination was awesome so was the taco salad. All of the food was nice and fresh we had 8 people for dinner and it was under 90.00 which I have to say is refreshing in itself. I would go back if I was on this side of town it is a must try. Good food for the buck! Carne Asada, cheesesteak taco and carnitas! Very very good restrooms were very clean as well as the restaurant. Small, SMALL, restaurant which is fine but it's a teenager hangout, the manager was in a booth with his friends on his/her phone eating eating Cheetos, laughing, being loud, and overall inappropriate behavior and language. The waitress was on her phone the ENTIRE time and we had to call her over ever time we needed anything, even to order. My food never showed up so I split my toddlers meal. They also do not serve margaritas or any alcohol which is one of the reasons we went since it was nice day out. Food was decent but everything else was horrendous. read more

I drove somewhat out of the way to get to this restaurant, but the food was worth it. The food was excellent! I debate returning, however. I was taken aback by the treatment I received from the restaurant employee that served me when I placed my order. It was my first time ever going to this restaurant, and I was excited to have found this place. Yet, there was such an attitude of disdain towards me from this staff member that left me feeling like I was a worthless human that should have never walked into the establishment. I was feeling great otherwise until that very moment. I had to think if I knew this person but did not. I even asked another employee or the possible owner if there was another restaurant owned prior in another location. Since the answer was no, I knew exactly what was happening. I don't like being projected onto. That's not cool. Since I work in the service industry, I take this into account when serving others because what we carry around can easily be projected onto [unsuspecting] others ruining their experience. It took me my entire drive home to detach from that experience before I could even sit down to enjoy the food. Again, the food was excellent! I would love to rate this restaurant the five stars that it deserves, but it's hard to separate from that experience. Don't know if I will go back. Don't know that they care if it matters. read more

Ate here after it first opened and it was very good - quaint little restaurant in a neat little area of Lake Park. But...tried it again tonight - been about 6 or 8 weeks since last visit, and it was not worth the money. Each time I've been there or even driven by, they have not been very busy. It makes me wonder if they are cutting corners to save money. My daughter ordered the beef nachos. When they came, they were literally chips with seasoned beef and queso on top - that's it, and kind of bland tasting. The menu did not specify what was included aside form saying beef or chicken, but one would assume - at least I do, when ordering nachos in a Mexican restaurant I'm going to get more than meet and cheese, I mean even Taco Bell puts tomatoes on their nachos. I ordered the fish tacos, which according to the menu came with cabbage and their special sauce. When they arrived at the table, I was dismayed to find a very small amount of chopped up fish covered with a salad of cilantro and some tomatoes, with the sauce on the side. No cabbage, a very little amount of fish - certainly not what was described. To top this, our server brought out the nachos and my side of rice first, then a couple of minutes later my tacos came out. I was extremely disappointed, to say the least, after our initial visit. I will not be returning for fast food quality food that doesn't even match the menu description, and less then quality service. As much as I hate to say it, because I like to support small, local establishments, don't bother. read more

Finally made it for lunch after hearing about it awhile ago and I am happy to say it's a great little Mexican restaurant. The food was good, the waitress was attentive. The only thing I wish they had was more hot sauces to choose from, I'm not a fan of the only one they have but I know that's just a preference. This place picked up where the previous tenants, Gordo's left off. Decent sized menu, good variety. It's a small place & can get crowded on any given day, but it's perfect for quick to go orders. I highly recommend the soft tacos. My preference is the carne asada tacos. Meat, white onion, cilantro. Simple, yet amazing taste. Their salsa is also very good.
