Their salsa bowl is so tiny .and they do not give you more than 2 .they say they charge you after second tiny bowl of salsa its hard to dip in and you have to pay extra If you wanna get larger bowl like the ones on other Mexican restaurant comes with long bottle neck bottle for free of charge they give you . They give you basket of chips with not enough salsa sauce . I didn't like that. Tiniest salsa sauce I ever seen. And they raise their price on the special menu items like dos compadres is like 22.95 its expensive I will not be ordering from that menu again. Working in Charlotte for a month. Stayed very close to Azteca and we couldn't stay away from this place it was good the 4 times we visited! I have been to a good 25+ mexican restaurants back at home in NYC and plenty in Texas, this by far the best I've had. Very good family restaurant and good quality Mexican food for this part of the country (southwest is still the best for Mexican food).

So disappointing ! Margarita's were terrible- tasted like sour mix and the beef tacos were mushy and terrible.

It's is very good tasting servers are amazing and there sodas hot dirfrwnt and food is very authentic

The decor in the restaurant is fun, the service has always been good on our visits, and the portions are large, especially for such a reasonably priced menu. The menu is straight forward, so don't expect the newest innovations in Latin American cuisine. So disappointing. 6 months ago we were visiting Charlotte, and the mob around the restaurant forced us to give up and go elsewhere. We really looked forward to our next visit to Charlotte, so we made a bee line to Azteca. No crowds on a Friday night: should have been a red flag. Good cheese dip, and the "slaw" they serve up front is great. But the very expensive margaritas were bland, we professional margarita consumers could detect no tequila. Entrees (deluxe nachos, chimichanga, taco salad) were all very large but very flavorless. Alas, such a disappointment. We'll try somewhere else next trip! read more

This place basically sucks. I'm very patient when it comes to service because I'm a server so I know how it is to be busy and having to greet a table when you're running around. When you walk in, there wasn't a hostess in sight until a couple of minutes so I assumed they were busy. I sat in the bar area. After being sat multiple people saw us and never once greeted us until about 10 minutes later. I thought about just getting up and leaving but I was hungry. The food here is really good, and not too expensive. They have really great lunch specials and their chips and queso are amazing. However, the service was so bad. My waiter took probably close to 20 minutes just to get our drinks and another 10 minutes to take our order (after the drinks) we were probably there for close to 45 minutes before we got our food. (We went around noon, so it really wasn't busy at all) my friend, who I went with, asked the waiter a question about the menu, and he looked at her like she was dumb and never answered her question, instead make a sarcastic remark to her. To be honest, the foods good, so I can see why people go here a lot.. But personally, the service was so bad, I would rather pay the extra money for the better service then come back. read more

I had great service at Azteca but I was not really impressed with the food or the prices. It's very expensive for a Mexican restaurant. You are guaranteed to spend more than $10 per meal. The chips and salsa were good but they gave us two little tiny bowls of the salsa and that's it. No refills on chips no refills on salsa. We had a group of 4 which included two big boys that obviously could kill the salsa in two bites so I didn't even get to have any. Bummer. Then everything was so expensive I tried getting the cheapest thing. I wasn't impressed with mine considering it was still around $14. Just an okay experience at Azteca. We won't be back. I eat lunch here once a week and occasionally twice. Prices can't be beat - particularly the lunch specials - and the quality is always excellent. Great service and excellent value for the money.
