Very authentic Mexican food - according to my friend from Mexico. Her enchilada was very tasty. And my son loved his shrimp burrito. He devoured it. He also liked his rice and beans that came with the burrito. The chicken flauta was good but a tad dry. Everything was made fresh here so very good. We popped in here for an early lunch...around 11:30 on a weekday. The food was awesome! Authentic Mexican eats made fresh to order. The menu has a nice selection, and you can dine in or call ahead for take-out. The service was friendly but a little slow. There was only one server and at one point she had 4 tables and seemed a little overwhelmed. We would definitely go back for the food though, very tasty! read more

The guy who said the enchilada meal is as big as your head...wasn't lying and it's fantastic!! The green sauce is a perfect compliment to the spicy pork...the enchiladas come buried in Mexican cheese, lettuce avocado and tomato, too! The guacamole is as stated...fresh and fantastic!! I'm in heaven and will likely survive now that I have found a great Mexican restaurant right here on Route 71 in Belmar...quick, easy, delicious!!! Just go...you won't be disappointed!! read more

Wow, Yelpers -- you done me wrong! My partner and I had dinner here last night based on YOUR average of 4.5 star reviews. I would have left my own review sooner but I've been on The Throne for 17 hours. In fact, I didn't even make it out of Azteca before the fun started; at least their bathroom was clean. But it wasn't only me who was affected -- my partner was still experiencing the after-effects this morning. And we ate totally different stuff -- I had the spicy pork chimichanga and she had the chicken and steak fajitas -- we shared chips and guacamole, which were really delicious. But both of our entrees were literally swimming in grease, as in tip the plate and a river runs through it. Nothing tasted bad to me or to my partner but yowza. I can't identify the cause of the problem but you can rest assured that neither of us will return to Azteca nor will we recommend it to anyone who we actually like. I'm sure the food is good here, if you have plenty of time. Went with my girlfriend, waited about 10 minutes to get water. Then waited about 10-15 minutes to order nachos as an appetizer. Took about 15-20 minutes for that to come out. Couldn't get a refill on our waters to drink with the nachos. Had to leave and go somewhere else because we literally couldn't even get anyone's attention to put in our dinner order. We left the cash on the table without a check and left. Assuming we left enough including tip. Would like to go back and see what the food is all about but will need to eat before going in preparation for eating dinner there approximately one and a half hours from sitting down. read more

I was a little nervous to try this place but the yelp reviews gave me confidence and I am so glad they did! We ordered delivery and it was there in 30 minutes, which is pretty dang good on a Friday night. The food arrived hot, fresh, and delicious. We ordered tacos, enchiladas, and a torta. Literally best burrito I have ever had. The burrito was stuffed with white meat chicken and quality cheese. Most places use little meat and more rice and beans to cut costs and make a profit. Rice and beans were served on the side. Also, portions are large and one burrito was enough for 2 people. Amazing! read more

Don't let the appearance fool you. In spite of the initial external appearance, the restaurant is very clean. We went for lunch today for the first time based on location and reviews. Best Mexican around! The owner/chef is great too. I was having a birthday party in September and wanted to have more than just "cookout food" (burgers/dogs/corn etc.) but didnt want to cook. I ordered, in advance, large orders of guac, salsa verde, and even a tray of veggie quesadillas (which he cut into smaller pieces bc he knew I was hosting a party); it was great.
