Instead of having the family burdened with additional responsibilities when his time comes- it was great to see him being proactive. And honestly, a huge relief, in my opinion. Back then, and to this present day- he's been living in a facility that takes care of his daily needs. So, when I got his phone call that a representative from Featheringhill Mortuary would make the drive to him and get the paperwork started- pops requested my presence as well. So, I brought this up to my momma- (parents have been divorced for 30 years & actually have a friendship still). And she asked to be present as well, with pops approval. Had a representative not made the visit to his facility- we would have rented a mobility van, which isn't cheap to make such arrangements. The FM representative was patient and forthcoming when it came to explaining services, what to expect when payment is made, and why we would receive paperwork from a life insurance company. Since the arrangements have been accommodated for pops- momma has been interested in getting something very similar to his policy. As the years passed by, I have procrastinated in setting up the appointment for momma. We finally set one up and went to their location. I asked if they could retrieve pop's policy and we can piggyback on his arrangements. The FM rep was patient with momma, who has trouble at times understanding the English language. Her appointment took an hour. We didn't feel rushed at all. We booked our appointment first thing in the morning. Parking lot in the back, with some of the stalls looking very cramped. And off street parking on El Cajon Blvd. I'm most likely going to make my arrangements with FM very soon as well.

This was my first time ever having to plan and organize funeral services, and I was unsure of where to even begin. But they made the entire process feel manageable and, more importantly, meaningful. I deeply appreciated their work ethic, their attention to detail, and the way they treated my family during such a difficult time. I'm so grateful for their support and would absolutely recommend Goodbody Mortuary to anyone navigating this type of loss.

They were respectful and caring throughout. The attention to detail on the day of the funeral was unmatched and Julie remained on the periphery whenever we had questions or needed her. We would have been quite literally, lost, without her guidance.

I picked up our beloved Winston today and was finally able to have a good cry in their parking lot. For the last two weeks, I was so numb with grief, that I couldn't express my feelings of loss. After I opened up the beautiful gifts that Pam and Mark gave us (beautiful bracelet and bookmark), and after I touched Winston's paw print and felt the weight of his ashes, I was finally able to find release and relief. Thank you to the humans at this wonderful company, for being the perfect place to end our pet's journey.

Losing my mom has brought a pain I never thought I could get through, but the staffing of El Cajon Mortuary made enduring my mom's viewing manageable. My parents had set up their viewing and interment plans years ago, and after mom's passing the process was as simple as calling the mortuary to review her contract and get all things started. Pricing had already been taken care of with the prior arrangement so that was one less thing to worry about. 3 days after my mom's passing my family and I met with Mr. Charles who helped us tremendously. He set up her certificates, was careful and attentive when we brought in her clothing and described her usual makeup for her final look. He set up her flowers, keepsakes and memorial pamphlets (he had binders ready for us to flip through and choose what we wanted for her). I was just very impressed with how he genuinely wanted to learn about my mom and made sure we knew about every detail of how she would be taken care of while with them. He showed lots of care and sympathy. The day of the viewing was bittersweet as expected, many tears but also many laughs and smiles. My mom looked absolutely beautiful, the staff did a stunning job of staying true to her and she looked very at peace. She honestly looked years younger. I regret that I've forgotten his name, but our main contact for the night made sure that our family was taken care of. He personally greeted us and gave us his condolences and made it so that we were able to see our mom on our own before visitors could. He also helped us with setting up our video and his colleagues helped pass out our pamphlets for visitors. He also assisted us with timing and making sure that visitors were gathered for the eulogy and that visitors had left so the immediate family could help close her casket at the end. When we left, the staff had carefully packed up our photos, flowers and any leftover memorabilia into a keepsake box so that we could take them home. About a week later we were able to pick up her remains as well as the keepsake urns for her children and all her necessary paperwork. While this entire process hasn't been easy, this facility showed so much care and sympathy. I can't thank them enough. The facility is abiding by covid regulations such as reducing capacity by 50%, requiring masks for entry, social distancing and requiring pre-packaged food (if bringing any). All of these restrictions were easy to follow, the facility is very spacious and our family and friends were still able to hug, grieve and celebrate together. Thank you again El Cajon Mortuary for your kindness and service.

I provided the funeral director Charles with the custom engraving over the phone and was assured the necklace would be ordered and that I would be contacted when it was ready. Months passed without any communication from them and many repeated calls from me. I hope this review encourages meaningful changes so other grieving families are treated with the care they deserve.

When we brought this issue to the attention of the front office, we were told that there are no security measures in place to prevent theft and that we would simply need to purchase a replacement vase, costing over $50, each time one disappears. Considering the significant amount families pay to have their loved ones laid to rest here, this response is unacceptable. What makes this even more concerning is that it is not an isolated incident. Nearly every vase surrounding our loved ones' graves has also been stolen. Instead of feeling peace and comfort when we visit, we are left distressed by the thought of strangers repeatedly stealing from gravesites while nothing is being done to address the problem. Families come here to visit with those they have lost. It is deeply disappointing that protecting memorial items does not seem to be a priority and gives the impression that their profit matters more than supporting grieving families and preserving the dignity of their loved ones' resting places.
