They do not put them back, who is available every Tuesday to come take it off and place it back?? Patches of missing grass with muddddddd holes. I had to buy grass feed since the cemetery staff had a whole 2 years to do it but didn't. No sympathy, the cemetery staff will watch you and try to push you out early and will post up and watch you until you leave. Oh and this just isn't a rant I have multiple family members here in different zones of the cemetery far away from each other and this still applies. Something should be done, it's common courtesy. Mt. Hope cemetery lacks dignity.

We're from Los Angeles and made every effort to be prepared -- asking questions and confirming details before the appointment. Unfortunately, my partner hit traffic on the way down and called ahead to let them know he'd be about 20 minutes late. Instead of being understanding, they coldly recommended he reschedule. When he asked if he could complete any paperwork in advance to save time, he was told no. Once he arrived, the "paperwork" turned out to be a single sheet that took less than five minutes to fill out -- something that easily could have been handled online. The process itself was absurd. Apparently, it's their policy to only show three plots at a time. If none are acceptable, you must schedule another appointment a week later to see three more. When my partner expressed that the first three didn't work, they reluctantly showed three more -- none of which matched his requests. He specifically asked not to be placed near a street, yet several were. One plot was next to a sprinkler, leaving the area muddy and uneven, and had been driven over by the gardener's vehicle when he took him out to see the plot. When he voiced his concerns, the staff blamed him for "not specifying what he wanted," which is unreasonable -- most people selecting a burial plot are doing so for the first time and rely on staff to guide them. Instead of compassion or professionalism, one employee responded with sarcasm, saying, "You're lovely." Completely uncalled for. This cemetery's staff need serious retraining -- or replacement. They made an already painful process significantly worse through their lack of empathy, poor communication, and sheer incompetence. Choosing a burial plot should never feel like an uphill battle, especially when you're grieving a loved one. Mt. Hope should be ashamed of how they treat families during such a difficult time.

La Vista representatives have tried mightily to find some or all of this policy "unfunded", not included (since when is opening and closing of the grave "optional"?), and therefore chargeable, to the tune of over $2,000. We straightened it out! Today my friend went alone to pay what I was told by LaVista was a $312 fee for tax and interment registration. I thought she was safe. They kept her over an hour while TWO people (this admitted to me by one of the mentioned people) kept talking and (she felt) badgered her until she "understood" what they were saying- and was so overwhelmed, she wrote a check for an additional $350 to pay for headstone, grave liner, permanent vase etc. that were ALREADY COVERED by the insurance! My friend said she was SO overwhelmed at that point she just wanted to "get out of there", and paid so she could leave. I called and we are going tomorrow to pick up the check and give them a new one for the appropriate amount. The rep also told me they asked her during that hour if she believed in Jesus, and I said I was aware she did but what has that to do with the business at hand? My friend-who was calmed by this time- said it was to make her feel safe with them so they could get her to do what they wanted, and I agree. Please! Do NOT use this business (my opinion) or at least do not allow anyone vulnerable to go to the office alone.
