I came here using a Groupon for a Saturday mid-Afternoon service that was booked short notice. The place was nice and neat. The difference from this establishment to Maria's Organic Sugaring Studio across the street is that Maria's has baby/feminine wipes you can avail before the service if you need to. The service was courteous and professional. They have a numbing spray that they use before they start. My tech was observant to my reactions and kept checking to see if I needed a break or not. If you're expecting to find the words "gentle" in this review, think again. I don't think there's anything gentle about waxing our kitty cats, BUT this is the best place to do it if you must. But let's start with the basics - I've always believe a "sugar" wax meant actual grains of sugar scrubbed against your down under to take hair off. Sugaring is actually a nice warm ball of sugar goo, spread out on you and stripped off - sort of like a wax, except, the ball is re-used until it's cold and then tossed for a change of gloves and a new ball of sugar goo. The location is in a business area, so it's a suite within a quiet building that offers plenty of free parking. The business is fairly new (2 months old) but there's definitely a serine/spa feel to it. Owner, Tina has been in the industry for 15+ years and she's a true expert (plus friendly). I was offered a numbing spray (which didn't work for me) and found the pain to be slightly less than waxing, and actually a lot quicker in process. My sister, friend, and I came here from the recommendation of my other fellow elite yelper and cousin, Alexis K. The actual procedure took less than 25 minutes! My vajayjay was in the great hands of Dee dee, while my sister and friend were with Tina!! Both are oh so clean (hand hygiene and gloves), make great conversation with you so it's not awkward, and definitely educate you about sugaring. For those of you new to sugaring, I prefer sugaring because not only is it natural, but also only sticks to the hair and not the skin. If you do have some sugar residue, it comes off with water instantly! They first ask you to bare down and give you your privacy. Then, you sit in a butterfly position and they test the warmth of the sugar on your thigh. After that, came the pain HAHA. For first timers like me, it hurt and I yelped and squealed! This review is long overdue but I just had to give Dee Dee some well deserved props. I am almost ashamed to admit that I bounced from place to place using Groupons because I was cheap and while most places were pretty good, I was never blown away until it came to Azucar Sugaring. They use gloves and do not double dip. Not only are they sanitary and clean but Dee Dee is always pleasant to talk to. She makes the time go by so fast and seems exactly in tune to my pain by letting me take breaks at the exact moment I am thinking how much I need one in my head. She guides me through each session and is quick so most of the time it is not too painful. Did I mention how amazing she is to talk to? Today was my first day getting a wax in nearly two years. I avoid them because I'm not a huge fan of the sensation. I read good things and was referred by a dear friend so I decided to give it a try. 1. The real - there is virtually no way to rip hair from your skin without there being some sort of pain or sting. So for people looking to feel nothing, it doesn't make sense so don't erase that thought. 2. I had Deedee and she was super nice and made me very comfortable which is important seeing as though you're lying on a table with your hooha exposed. She's a sweet lady and explained everything she was doing. 3. The process it self was bearable, it's quick, take deep breaths, say a prayer, suck it up, you'll be fine. I have a low pain threshold and was able to make it through. 4. ITS WORTH IT. The moments of discomfort are worth being silky smooth. I've had a few Brazilians before, but never one as gentle or as thorough. Normally I'm a mess when I get waxed -crying, shaking, screaming, cursing, all of that. A friend recommended I try sugaring, and I'm glad I did. However, DeeDee's service today surpasses all of the places I've been to for sugaring. I'm really disappointed in their customer service. They had Groupons online but chose not to honor it as their own personal policy says no Groupons for previous customers. Note that this is not stated anywhere. However, on the Groupon itself, there is no fine print saying new customers only and instead it says customers can repurchase every thirty days. They still chose not to honor even though their own Groupon says otherwise. Instead they offered me the same service for almost double the Groupon price thinking it would be such a great deal. If you normally wax, I highly recommend sugaring. Why? Because it's (slightly) less painful and doesn't leave you feeling all sticky and gross afterwards. I saw DeeDee this past weekend and she was great. There isn't anything pleasant about having your hair ripped from the most delicate parts of your nether regions, but she kept me distracted with her fun, light-hearted conversation. First of all let me say the reviews were absolutely on point. Tina was amazing!!! I had been in the hospital for the past 3 months and so there was hair everywhere lol. Been getting waxed for years and it's the first time getting sugaring. I liked it, it was a little intense at times but super quick. she was able to get most of the hair. I have brittle hair so I'm very used to having some left and that doesn't bother me much. Deedee was nice on the phone and nice in person. The room was nice and clean. This place is GREAT! Tina was really friendly, professional, and put me as ease and did a great job!! First time getting a sugar wax at this establishment and I am addicted! There is no cross contamination or "double dipping" as Tina changed her gloves every time she went to get a fresh glob of the sugar wax. Prior to the waxing, there are wipes where you can freshen up before the waxing. Tina also has a numbing spray which actually works and helps with the discomfort!!
