I've been going to BareSkin Waxing for years and have always had a great experience. It is easy to book online and pricing is straight forward for the services. I'm always greeted warmly by the receptionist and have never had a long wait for my service(s). The salon is clean, quaint, and neat. You will have to walk up a flight of stairs to get to the salon. For a Brazilian appointment I'm always out in about 30 minutes. The service is neat and as comfortable as can be and I like coming to BareSkin because I have limited discomfort during my waxing. The products and techniques the staff employs is phenomenal and they truly care about skincare maintenance in between appointments. Came herewith a girlfriend without an appointment. The door was locked at first and we tried calling but no one answered. After waiting at the door for a bit, someone came up the stairs to let us in. Apparently one was on a lunch break and the other had to move her car real quick. Understandable, parking isn't free in the area. We were able to be seen right away even though there were others who haven't showed up for their appointments yet. And when they did show up, they didn't have to wait long. To me, this is really important because I've been to salons where the scheduling was really messed up. Seems like they have it down well here. My friend and I enjoyed 20% off as first time customers. Bare Skin is incredible. I've been coming here off and on for about seven years now, and I've only ever had great experiences. I've seen several people over the years, but I see Alexis the most often. She is AMAZING: Always quick yet meticulous and fun to talk to. I also love the setting. It's in a rowhouse, and the decor is super cute -- not the "spa" experience that often makes me more nervous! I recently tried out a slightly cheaper place for a few Brazilian waxes, and it was a big mistake. Coming to Bare Skin helped me understand the process doesn't need to make me feel like crying, and the hygienic standards here are high. The other biggest testament I can give to Bare Skin is that I intend to move into the District in a few months, but I'm strongly considering still coming here for my waxes. I chose this location based on the positive reviews and chose my esthetician based on the reviews that she received as well. However, my experience was nothing like the others. I came in for a brazilian and an eyebrow shaping (it had been a year since my last eyebrow wax). The establishment itself is nice inside and welcoming. Parking is on the street but I dodnt have a problem finding one nearby. It isn't handicapped accessible. You do have to go up a flight of stairs to reach them. Pricing is comparable to surrounding spas and first time customers get a 20% discount. On to my waxing session review. My eyebrows are uneven and trash. I have natural thick eyebrows and that should have been a nice canvas to work with but nope. One eyebrow has a higher arch and is shorter than the other. Terrible. While I am bare "down there", I went through hell for it! My esthetician was not professional. She was on a personal phone call for the entire duration of the session and it was a quite heated one too and occasionally loud. I even had to ask for her name when she called me back to make sure that she was who I selected in my appt. I didn't get any kind of greeting. Just called my name and directed me in the room. At least a "How are you" before you see my hoo haa would have been a little more professional but nope. The wax itself was horrible and painful. It took three to four times to remove the wax strips! I even have ripped skin in the crease of my thigh and private area from the multiple snatching of the same strip, which is a first for me! Maybe this was because she was severely distracted by the heated phone conversation that she was having in front of me. I've been getting a brazilian for years and this was by far my worst experience EVER! I literally contemplated stopping the session and walking out. I was that annoyed and in pain. I wouldn't have even been mad if she said that she needed to step away to take the call for a couple of minutes. But who wants someone waxing them when they are clearly agitated and not focused? I didn't feel acknowledged until it was time to leave when she told me thanks and have a good day...while still on the same phone call. If "Im just here so I don't get fired" was a person. The call got so loud that when I was checking out, I expressed my disappointment to the front desk girl because of it! First impressions are everything. I went from telling this same receptionist that I was excited about finding them on yelp to saying that I'll never be back. While waiting to pay, another esthetician was wishing her customer a happy and safe trip like they had a cordial, professional session. Meanwhile, I paid nearly $100 to be ignored and put in pain. I could have stayed with my ex for that treatment! Ha! Luckily, my regular esthetician has finally opened her own waxing studio and I can go back to a personable, professional, painless wax experience. Never! Again! read more

My regular girl no longer works here so tried Brianna and I was left with hair everywhere and wax still in me causing my afternoon to be miserable till I could get home and get it all off. Absolutely atrocious experience with a waxer here. I had a bad feeling when it took ER close to 30 minutes to do my brows and lip. For context my brows only needed shaping. I left with a significant part of my right brow totally waxed off. The worst part is that my brows are thin to begin with and I told her I only needed them shaped. I've been coming here for over a year and have always had pleasant experiences. Tracy is my girl, tried and true! In the past, I've gone to places that only use hard wax (not in combination with cloth strips) which is the worst! The hard wax often breaks mid-pull which requires the esthetician to pull multiple times. Tracy uses a combination of wax and cloth, so that the single pull is swift. The location is easy to find, very clean, and never overbooked or running behind schedule. There are also sugar scrub samples in the bathroom for patrons to try. Go to Tracy-- you will NOT be disappointed. She's quick, does great work, and is also super friendly. read more

I have been to Bare Skin twice now and both experiences were wonderful! The staff is so friendly and helpful. The rooms are spacious--being a former town home--and clean. I go for regular bikini waxes and after having tried some other methods/venues, this one seems to work best for my skin, which is quite sensitive. Bare Skin uses hard wax and strips of cloth to remove the hair. I had been under the impression that this method could be a bit more uncomfortable, however, it is very much the contrary! For me personally, compared to the sugar wax and such that other wax companies might use, this is much gentler. I would recommend this location if your skin is sensitive and prone to in-growns. Anyway, I would definitely recommend Bare Skin for the overall experience. Thank you! read more

I've been here twice now and I won't be returning. My first time, the esthetician missed a few places and the final job was super patchy, but she was super sweet and the experience at the salon was pretty nice! The second time the final product was totally bareX but the esthetician didn't use any calming products or gestures (didn't use any aloe, lotion, or put her hand over spots post-wax like most do in my experience). This led to a super painful experience, but now the area is still red and bumpy, which would normally be gone for me in a matter of hours. For $60 plus tip, this place isn't a winner for me. I tried to book online and was unable to book. It stated walkins are welcome 11 times on the website. I called no answer. I just walked in and the person at the front literally looked like I was a major inconvenience. The website reflected that it had 11:15-11:20 appointment available. I showed up at 11:15. She wasn't wearing a mask. I said the website said you had now available, she said because of COVID some of our services are not walk-in. I said okay, what time she picked an hour from now.. but I can clearly right now go online and book an appointment for this time. I fully appreciate the health and safety, but don't advertise something that you aren't doing and work to ensure staff are trained on customer service. A customer is required to keep a business open. I have a normal place and one that has impeccable service. But they are closed for the holiday, I will not branch out and again. And I would not recommend this place. read more
