We went here yesterday on Sunday and whatever we went to order they were out of so we drank our margaritas and left to eat somewhere else. Absolutely lovely owner, he made us special mango daiquiris and even better, avocado daiquiris. We saw him cut up the fruit fresh and pour in the rum so you know it was good. The civiche was excellent, with a surprising addition of star fruit that was just so pleasant. I got the seafood casserole which was filing yet with a light and flavorful broth. The unassuming restaurant is a vibrantly decorated palapa, in the middle of a local neighbourhood, whose patrons are mostly locals. The extensive menu, filled with photos of their dishes, serves up a variety of fresh and delicious seafood with a myriad of choices of how they are prepared. My cousin, Jasmine, and I couldn't resist the Langosta A la mantequilla, Al ajo (butter garlic lobster) and were not disappointed. The main attraction here is the Pez Leon (lionfish), the invasive venomous fish that have become prevalent in Cozumel. No worries - the chef carefully removes the poisonous spines off of the fish and prepares this mouthwatering delight as you desire; grilled, skewered, with coconut, whichever way you choose. Jasmine and I had to try the Filete a la Plancha - delicate and flaky, it was beautifully cooked and buttery in taste. You can't go to La Perlita without ordering the Pez Leon, en serio! Adding to the wonderful dining experience, the service is excellent. Los meseros (the waiters) are attentive, very helpful, and extremely friendly. The restaurant's utmost concern is customer satisfaction, so if you want to customize something, don't hesitate to ask. The kitchen staff is very accommodating. This is a nice quiet neighborhood restaurant that is a little hidden gem. The margaritas are short but tasty. We had the lion fish as an appetizer because we had not had lion fish before. It came with rice and vegetables. This came with a mango sauce that was stunning. Beautiful flavors! I would get it as an entree next time. We also had 3 seafood empanadas on little corn tortillas. The lobsters that we ordered were large ones. They also came with rice, butter and vegetables. We had no problem finishing everything off with the fresh rich flavors. If you want a whole fish, they had a cooler with whole snapper. You get to pick the size you want. Make sure you try the lime pie. Service was excellent. Bring pesos for the price. We asked our bellman at The Westin where should we go for the very best Ceviche? He told us La Perlita. We have been to Cozumel 9 times and have never heard of this place. Our cab driver took a turn off the main tourist trap road and we went to a quiet neighborhood and there it was. From the moment we walked in Victor (the waiter) took care of us. We had the very best Large Mixed Ceviche that had at least 12 whole shrimp and conch in it with the freshest pico de gallo and guacamole. We also had 4 beers and some plantain and our bill was $39. We WERE stuffed. Almost could not finish but we could not leave any of it. The next night our friends came over from Playa and we told that that we must go to La Perlita. They were staying at an All Inclusive and were tired of the same old food. On this adventure we did all of the above and added Fish Tacos grilled and Margaritas. They were wonderful as well. Chef Victor ( not to be confused with the other Victor) is truly wonderful. The have great Lobster, Grilled Lionfish with garlic butter and some sensational looking Red Snapper. Do yourself a favor and get off of the strip and head here. Ask for Victor! read more

BEST FOOD ON THE ISLAND This food was so delicious we came back twice. The grilled LionFish is incredible- very light fish that just is grilled up with lime and garlic. I loved it so much. The stuffed fish filet was also delicious kind of like a chowder on top of fish and also delicious The fish fingers were the best I have ever had (fish sticks). Batter was nice and light. YUMMY. I really love this restaurant the service was fantastic you were a large group of 12 people. Turned out it was lobster night details are about 4 ounces each and come with some vegetables and rice not really an adequate enough amount of food if you're really hungry but still for 120 pesos it's worth it to order two towels which is what we did. The margaritas are also delicious and strong don't be fooled by the small ones they pack a punch. This restaurant is a little further out but it's worth the trip. Even though we stay at great all inclusive resorts, their amazing fresh seafood and awesome service is the highlight. Super authentic Mexican experience in a sea of tourist attractions. You'll have to take a taxi here away from the tourist area. Small hole in the wall restaurant run by a few older gentlemen. The locals will know what and where you're talking about. The menu has some English but also has pictures, SUPER cheap for american standards. Menu is listed in pesos---use a converter. The pico de gallo is AMAZING! Super flavorful and spicy. We ate chips and salsa at one of the touristy places and it literally had no spice at all. So we loved this. Ceviche (4/5): authentic, not your usual tomato based sauce. More of a lime squeezed flavor. Eat it alone or with chips. Guac (4/5): fresh made guac, only made with avocado so it's missing the chunky flavor I'm used to. Grilled lobster (5/5): wow, so juicy and tender and grilled to perfection! They must use a wood grill because you can taste the flavor in every bite of charred meat. Seafood platter (5/5): whoooaaa, pretty huge portion for about $35US it can feed about 3-4 people (we had 2 ppl.) it's also a grilled dish, comes with: Fish Conk fish (super crunchy- cartilage texture but tasted amazing) Octopus Shrimp (best shrimp eveeeeer) You could literally taste the freshness with every bite. The margs and micheladas kept on coming! Don Julio $4, grande margs $4, micheladas $2. They have a wall of different types of tequila/liquor The service was sooo sweet. Wonderful seafood. Group of 6 had a variety of meals including whole fried fish, grilled fish tacos, fried shrimp, seafood stuffed fish, seafood rellenos, and shrimp diablo. All dishes were excellent, except the diablo which was OK but not great. Prices are reasonable. Food freshly prepared and fairly quick service. Give this place a pass. We thought it would be a very local restaurant based on reviews and the location (which is pretty off the beaten path). While we were here, there were only other tourists and not a local in sight. My boyfriend has the lion fish burger, which was more or less inedible. Frozen, mushy bun and a super dry, over cooked tasteless fish patty. I had tostadas de mariscos, which were pretty good. The lion fish prices seem high (300 pesos) relative to other things on the menu and considering since it's not exactly a delicacy or prized fish. Plenty of other options in cozumel that are better value for money and tastier. read more

To say that you will ever see food from Thomas Keller or Daniel Bouloud in Cozumel would be a misnomer, however there are some quaint little jewels that will definitely satisfy. Pearlitas is one of them. Off the beaten path, it's still an easy walk from the ferry. Walk in and you initially think... just another Mexican restaurant, but sit and take note. The ceviche was really well executed, fresh octopus, shrimp, chopped cilantro, lime, a little jalapeño, salt and it was done. Perfectly executed. The lobster was the exact same quality as anyone that is considered a great lobster restaurant, but it was less than 1/2 the price. So if lobster is on your mind, his is the place! Beer was affordable, dessert was a featured Neapolitan ice cream cake which was refreshing but not thrilling. Rolls and butter were fillers. Overall a nice experience with a very friendly wait staff. We ate lunch for $11 for both of us. $3.50 for 6-8 huge fish fingers, made with the local catch of the day - Grouper. I had avocado stuffed with a seafood salad of shrimp, octopus and conch. $6.50 Both were jaw dropping amazing! I can't imagine how good the main dishes are. read more

This restaurant is a rip off! We ordered 3 lobsters .250 .300kg and we asked for a very large one. Although we asked for 3 different sizes we were charged for two very large lobsters. We questioned the bill and was told they didn't have a medium size portion. They claimed they gave us two large servings. They were lying! We have pictures to prove it. The portions weren't the same and they should have told us they didn't have the medium portion prior to cooking. The over charging added insult to injury as the meal wasn't as good as the lobster I had the night before at La Mission. We should have gone back to La Mission. read more

This place is in downtown, if you are looking for a fancy place to eat, don't go there, this is a hole in the wall with wonderful food. The service is wonderful! The mix ceviche is one of the best that I ever had, the lion fish is amazing, even my 7 year old loved the fish fingers.
