As I sit here 15 minutes waiting to be acknowledge and writing this review, staff just looks at me then goes back to counting her tips. Staff approached me and ask can I help you? I nearly lost it but kept my cool and ordered a drink ($16.99 margarita) and fajita taco salad, drink was as expected but omg the fajita bowl was pucker up salty. Staff asked me how's the food and I exclaimed it's very salty, another employee on break was eating the same thing and said it was salty as well. Azul Tequila is my GO-TO restaurant for lunch meetings, queso cravings, and patio margaritas. While Azul may not be the most "hole in the wall" place (it's pretty standard for an established mexican restaurant), it IS dependable and delicious. They start you off with regular or spicy salsa and chips (the spicy is pretty tolerable and is my personal favorite) that are individualized so you don't have to worry about double dipping in the shared salsa. Then a great go-to (a little pricey, but worth it) is the dip trio! You can't go wrong with guac and liquid cheese. Then my favorite dishes are the street tacos (carne asada) and the enchiladas Del Mar (if you like seafood). They have a lunch and dinner menu if you a looking for some different meal sizes/deals. Have been wanting to try this place for a while, but likely won't return. We came on a Sunday evening and were sat immediately. The hostess and our server were both friendly, so no complaints about the service! The chips and salsa were good too, they give you a choice of mild or spicy salsa. The food, however, was pretty lackluster. We ordered the shrimp tacos and fish tacos, which were the exact same meal just with different proteins. I prefer my fish tacos with some sort of crema or sauce, but these just had the fish/shrimp cooked in a red sauce, thrown in a cold corn tortilla and topped with plain corn, beans, and cabbage. They included a tomatilla sauce, but it was watery and flavorless and a bit too spicy. Not bad exactly, but nothing to write home about. I suppose they assume people ordering the fish or shrimp tacos are trying to be healthy, but they were served with plain white rice with corn, while the chimichanga we also ordered was served with regular spanish rice. The spanish rice was pretty good. The chimichanga was like they had thrown it in oil to fry it, but never actually let it fry, so it was pretty soggy and had no crispness. The beans it was served with were extremely smokey. Overall this place was just food, definitely not the best Mexican in the area. read more

Staff wore masks and tables were spread out well for social distancing. Salsa was amazing, cheese sauce was the watered down white cheese with little to no flavor. I went to pay for my meal ($9.99) and was charged over 15 dollars (I had water). I asked why they had six dollars of taxes and they told me that what the tax rate is. I asked for a manager and told me she couldn't do anything because my card had been run through the system. She wrote on back of receipt "free appetizer". I don't know why it took me this long to try this place since moving here (July). PARKING/WAIT/AMBIANCE: We came on a Friday night around 6pm. They are in a small strip mall with a decent size parking lot. Parking at this time was not plentiful, but we were able to find a spot that was not too far away. We fortunately did not have a wait when we came inside and we were seated right away. The restaurant had quite a few tables occupied. It became more crowded as the night went on. The ambiance was nice inside. Festive, but chic decor for a Mexican restaurant. The waiters are dressed in Mexican outfits as well. CUSTOMER SERVICE: We had good customer service from the hostess to our waiter. He was very friendly and would check in on us a reasonable amount of times. He was also able to remember what we ordered without writing anything down and we asked for different substitutes. I'm always impressed when waiters can do that. FOOD: The food was pretty good Mexican, so we were pleased. First off, the chips and salsa was good. You have the option of mild and/or spicy salsa. We asked for both. The spicy was pretty spicy, which I love. The chips were really good too. Entrees: I ordered the avocado tacos and they were delicious! I would definitely order them again. We went to dinner on 1/22/2022 and have always had a good experience. However this was definitely not the case this time. I ordered a chicken burrito and my wife ordered the taco salad with steak. Our food was so soggy, we needed a second plate to drain the liquid. The waiter said it was just the cheese sauce and they were always this soggy. The manager repeated the same sentiment. I was willing to have our food replaced, but after hearing that the food would not get any better, we chose to leave. This was definitely not cheese sauce. It was simply excess liquid from cooking. This should have been drained off before serving. They make slotted spoons for a reason. Mexican food should not be soggy, especially salads. read more

Stopped in this evening for dinner. Food was great. We both had the Street Tacos. We shared a white queso and a guacamole appetizer. The young lady who took our order wasn't very good at explaining things. I asked for a Dos Equis. She asked if I wanted bottle or draft. I said that a mug would be nice. So when she brought the beer it was their "very large" mug. There was no way I could drink it. No big deal other than I really didn't want to pay for it. The queso is too runny and the guacamole is mediocre at best. The street tacos were very good. Service was decent but far from great. First of all the place is beautiful. Have that old world rustic. I just wish they would clean the benches after each guess. Hate it that I have to ask the server to clean up the refried bean left on the bench. As for chip and salsa, they tasted real good. Just enough tanginess and saltines with good blend of spice. I ordered the California burrito. The presentation is nice but I did not expect it be drowning in cheese (some in lactose intolerant). The steak was a little chewy. The burrito is a like salty but taste ok. The burrito con papa's seems to taste the same. The chimichanga tasted better, not as salty. We eat here probably 3-4x a month, and have for MANY YEARS. We've held countless birthdays here and it was the first place we brought our son after he was born. The service and food is always amazing. Tonight though, was enough to make me never want to return. We bought $60 worth of food to go, and when I went to pick it up, I asked if we could have a large salsa to go, something we ask for everytime and receive, whether pickup or delivery. Tonight the incredibly rude manager said the price for a large salsa was $11. ELEVEN DOLLARS. Yet if I sat there & ate my $60 worth of food, I could've eaten 10 large salsas at NO EXTRA CHARGE. I asked if they could make an exception to this new and ridiculous policy since I didn't bring money in after paying online, they said no. This place is very nicely decorated and the staff is quite friendly. We had to wait 15 minutes for our table and when the weather's bad you end up standing very close to people who are dining. We over heard a table complaining about how long it was taking to get their food. We were seated in a small booth near the back of the restaurant. This table was fine for the 2 of us but I would not want to be seated here if I was part of a party of 4, and there were several parties of 4 crammed in these booths. Our drinks and chips/salsa came out very quickly. The mild salsa has good flavor and the chips were fresh but not warm. We ordered and, after listening to the other table complain, I decided to time it. Our hot plates were before us in 10 minutes. Perfectly acceptable in my book. I ordered the carnitas tacos. The meat was light on seasonings but came topped with opinions and cilantro with a green salsa and pico on the side. With the salsa/pico in heavy use I really enjoyed the tacos. The carnitas were tender, juicy, and not a fatty piece to be found. Azul Tequila is pretty new so I'm hoping to come back and give them another shot to see if the food has improved. In town for a meeting I was hesitant when a friend asked me if I wanted to do Mexican. I'm from Southern California, where some of the best Mexican food in the world exists. Mexican in Arkansas? Fortunately, this place didn't disappoint. While affordable, they do a great job at bringing quality Mexican to the central part of the country. It's a great place to come for lunch that couples great service, with slightly above average food and wonderful prices. Even the salsa (the hot and mild) tasted homemade and was good. I've never had a place bring tacos completely engulfed in tinfoil before, which was odd, but that's how they do things here. The meat was ok. It came with a decent seasoning and passes the average test. I was surprised to see just the meat and tortilla, however. And, the rice and beans are normal, nothing exciting. Still, when in this area, it's a great place for chips, salsa, and lunch, whether solo or with friends. It's a go-to spot for cheap food in a relaxing spot with great service. read more

I've eaten here three times. The first time I had fajitas and they were marginal. I call the meat "squirrel meat" because its hard to find the meat in a skillet of veggies because its so small. To me, a good fajita has strips of steak or strips of grilled chicken, not little pieces. The second visit I tried the fish tacos. They were "ok". It was fried fish so not my fav and the tortillas were tiny so when you "built the taco" with slaw, etc, it fell apart and was too hard to eat. Flavor was "ok". On my third visit, I scored with a beef chimichanga. I did like it. The beef was tender and had beans inside. It was very tasty and just the right amount.
