I started wearing glasses when I was in third grade and spent the next 30+ years with impaired…read morevision, settling into a -5.5 prescription in both eyes. Bad enough that I couldn't, say, recognize faces or drive a car without glasses or contacts. I was used to waking up with blurry vision and putting in my one-a-days, sometimes after several hours of loafing around in glasses, looking obviously ungroomed at school drop-off. But I was always curious about Lasik, and planned to get it whenever I knew I was done being pregnant. I finally got into it a few months ago and found Dr. Paul Lee and CCRS on, of all places, our very own Yelp.com (there are a lot more reviews of the Hancock Park office, but as I only went there for consults and had my procedure done here, this is where I'll leave my review). I messaged CCRS through its website and heard back almost immediately. I was able to set up a complimentary consultation less than two weeks later (and was in fact offered a time the following week), at the Hancock Park location right by my house. Unfortunately, Dr. Lee doesn't operate at that office, as it's smaller and less thoroughly equipped, but he's there a couple times a week and I've been able to schedule all of my follow-ups there, except for the one the day after my surgery. I was immediately impressed with Dr. Lee. He is an expert in his field, thoroughly knowledgeable and professional, with a kind, reassuring demeanor. He's done thousands of refractive surgeries, and you can just tell by talking to him that he knows what he's doing. I knew nothing about any of these procedures except for Lasik, and he walked me through the other options, methodically laying out the pros and cons of each one. After examining my eyes, he determined I was a good candidate for ICL, a procedure that doesn't involve altering the cornea, like Lasik. In stupid terms, I'd say ICL is like having permanent contact lenses. They're inserted in a short surgery, and they can be removed at a later date. I'd always assumed I'd need glasses again when my eyes changed in old age, but with ICL, I can actually just get new lenses. To my surprise, I was able to book the surgery itself the following week, and only delayed by another week because I needed a weekend when I could go without contact lenses in preparation for the procedure. There was a required prep appointment, but I was able to do it on the same day as the surgery. I was told to plan on being at the office for about five hours, and was done in three and a half. There was a lot of examination and numbing, much irrigating of the eyes with various liquids. Some of this was uncomfortable, and I learned the hard way that tear ducts drain directly into the back of the throat (the worst side effect of my ICL surgery was actually a lingering cough from the battery of drops). But the surgery was as fast and painless as promised, Dr. Lee narrating while I had my eyes clamped open a la Clockwork Orange. I wouldn't do it again for fun, but the whole experience was on par with an involved trip to the dentist, and they gave me Valium. My eyes were sensitive and I didn't want to open them for the rest of the day, but they didn't hurt, and I passed out super early (I think this was the Valium). I woke up the next morning with no discomfort and miraculously clear vision. I drove myself to the follow-up appointment, and other than a few nights of sleeping with goggles and a couple weeks of eyedrops, I was basically done with treatment. It's been a couple months, and the ICL has been life changing. I could not be happier with the results, and have been evangelizing the procedure to all of my friends. If you're considering refractive surgery, make an appointment with Dr. Lee and CCRS. I'm honestly mad that I waited as long as I did.

So, I took about year to select CCRS and take the plunge for cataract surgery. They have great…read morereviews, but I think I was concerned about surgery in general. Eventually, I decided to go to them for an office visit in their Pasadena location. This is an incredibly nice facility. And the staff are excellent and available. It is the "new" type of medical practice, where the facility and the staff are more akin to a spa than a traditional office. This threw me a little, because I'm like "I know who is paying for all this: me." So I was definitely skeptical when I got to the "let's look at your options" portion of the visit. But first, you get the examinations. Plural. As in at least 3 different examinations at the first visit. The exams seem both comprehensive and useful. They do old school eye tests and new fangled ones. Since I already had a cataract diagnosis, I know they nailed the exams and the conclusions. It was the most extensive set of exams I'd ever had on my eyes, and I liked that. This gets you to the "options" part of the visit. The kind staff escort you into a clear walled office with a tv screen showing options for your malady. They inform you of the possible types of cataract lenses, and ask your general preference. Then Doctor Lee comes in and -- at least for me -- basically says you should really only look at the most expensive ones: Light Adjustable Lenses in my case. Let me first say that he was absolutely right. LAL lenses are amazing. But the whole approach felt very salesy. Not used car salesy, but definitely "upsell" salesy. This was especially true because it was in this separate office with an associate coming in first, then the "lead." The practice exactly mirrors what new car dealerships do. In retrospect, I think that Dr. Lee was so certain in his presentation because he knew -- from a lot of experience -- that LAL lenses were the best option for me. For whatever reason, it did not land well with me. I'm glad I got over it and made the appointment for the surgery. I had the surgery done at the same Pasadena office. They are really efficient there, with Dr. Lee seeing patients on regular visits the same day that he will do your surgery. They obviously planned the office out well and, in return, make good returns on their investment. But the price for my surgery was excellent compared to other providers; I just think Dr. Lee has optimized the process. Good for him. I definitely felt attended to during the pre-surgery and surgery itself. One recommendation: take whatever drugs they offer before the surgery. I turned them down because I wanted to drive home myself after the surgery. That was a mistake. The surgery didn't hurt or anything, but I was worried throughout that I would move or flinch and ruin the process. I think the drugs would have solved that problem. In all events, the surgery went well. Actually, the result was amazing. I always had decent vision, but post surgery it was like the world was in 3D. I had no post-operative issues, and my eyesight is amazing. I really appreciate CCRS's clean, beautiful, and well-staffed facilities. I really recommend them without reservation.

My friend had SMILE done by Dr. Lee about 9 months before I began diving seriously into the procedures. I met with 2 other clinics, but ultimately chose CCRS because of the fact that my fiance and I met with Dr. Lee during the consultation itself. He stayed with us for almost an hour to walk me through my options and his recommendations. He appeared to be intelligent, empathic, humorous, and above all, he was straight with me. Other clinics with a dedicated marketing operations team are a lot more sales-y, so I felt more comfortable with Dr. Lee, and all my appointments have been so streamlined and efficient. I was a good candidate for either SMILE or LASIK, but based on my preferences for longevity, I went with LASIK. Paperwork and pre-procedure instructions were sent to me in advance, and overall I think it went smoothly! I wasn't bothered at all by the lasers as I knew what to expect. I'm currently on days 5-6 of recovery and will be seeing Dr. Lee in another follow-up appointment next week. My vision continues to fluctuate a bit but that's a normal part of healing. My fiance is also interested in getting his refractive surgery done by Dr. Lee, and I recommended a family friend to him recently too. CCRS has free parking onsite, located nearby excellent Korean food, and facilities are super clean. Staff are friendly and highly efficient. So far, I'm happy with my results, which I hope will continue to improve.

However, a couple years later, one of my eye regressed very quickly to a point where I couldn't see clearly driving (pretty much driving reliant on my one good eye). So I decided to return for a 2nd lasik procedure. The first time I didn't feel any pain and thought it was a very fast procedure. The 2nd time, however, there were pain and I was actually squirming trying to hold off the pain. Procedure went well for another couple years. Fast forward to today, the vision in one eye is very bad while the other eye is slowly regressing, no longer 20/20. I know I had bad astigmatism but I was under the assumption that it would at least last many years before it regressed again. My questions are , do you guys offer free post touch-up laser surgery? I would love to get a fix or and adjustment. I work night shift and it's making it very hard to drive at night, especially with the halos and headlights. My 2nd question, do you recommend any other procedures besides Lasik for a permanent fix? I feel like a 3rd lasik procedure would be risky and cause too many side effects.

Positive review. 4-months Post-surgery OD:20/20 and OS: 20/15…read more I think many of you reading reviews right now are going back and forth about having vision correction surgery. Some of you might be like me and have extremely high myopia and want the vision freedom. From my experience, I researched ICL surgery since 2019. Once EVO ICL was FDA approved, I started looking for a surgeon for advice and see if I was a candidate. Before choosing IQ Laser Vision, I had gone to a different surgeon and he did say I was a EVO ICL candidate, however I was not impressed by him. I was later referred to IQ Laser Vision, where they contacted me and scheduled an appointment to see if I was a candidate. Their multiple offices made it easy for me to go meet with an advisor and doctor. However, with personal reasons, I was unable to get the surgery done during that year after that initial consult and going through their state of the art arcscan (apparently they're the only office that are using this technology to make sure to see if your eye has enough space/vault...very cool). Fast forward March 2026, I contacted IQ laser vision again in hopes that maybe I can ask them for another consult. Again, the advisor walked me through, doctors did their check up, arcscan again (still cool) and I was able to schedule my surgery. It was an honor to have Dr. Robert Lin be available to do my EVO ICL surgery. He was incredibly patient with my questions, listened to my story of researching this procedure, and I knew I was in good hands from someone who had worked on so many eyes. Perhaps my favorite part aside from the whole journey of vision correction and having 20/20 vision is that you can feel how much Dr. Lin cared for his patients. He called me personally to make sure my first day post surgery was ok. And even after 4 months later, he contacted me to make sure I was ok and how I am liking my vision. For those who are like me going back and forth about vision correction, I highly recommend making an appointment/consult to see if you can be a candidate. From there you can move forward and make that decision. I know it was later than I anticipated for myself, but I can truly say I am happy having that peace of mind that I can wake up and see, not have to worried about my glasses/contacts during a possible evacuation (fire or earthquake), and do water sport without fear of infections if I wore my contacts. That mental peace is probably the second to best part of this journey.

Predatory financial practices at the billing desk. Proceed with extreme caution…read more I am leaving a 1-star review strictly due to the deceptive financing tactics used by the front desk staff. My mother came to this clinic for eye surgery, and the staff took it upon themselves to sign my parents up for an $11,000 medical credit card (Alphaeon / Comenity Bank) without properly explaining the actual terms. My parents have limited English proficiency, and the clinic staff took full advantage of that language barrier. They pushed the financing as a simple, helpful payment plan, completely failing to explicitly warn them that it was a "deferred interest" credit line. Because of how the clinic aggressively pushed this paperwork, my family was blindsided by massive retroactive interest penalties, and the bank eventually attempted an automated withdrawal of nearly $6,000 from my parents' checking account, forcing us to involve federal regulators to get our money back. My warning to other patients: Do not let the staff here apply for any financing, loans, or payment plans on your behalf. If you have elderly parents or family members who are not fluent in English, do not let them speak to the billing department alone. Read every single sentence of the financial paperwork before you sign anything.
