We like this location is close to ASU. We came in for lunch during the weekday. We were seated as soon as we arrived. We have eaten here 4-5 times and we have had great service. My friend and I wanted some ramen Tuesday after work (around 3pm), forgetting that ramen spots are usually closed between 3-5pm. However, Azusa Ramen was open and we were excited to give it a try. We got the Azusa Black. If I had to rate the ramen itself out of 10, I'd probably give it a 7. The taste of the broth was good but extremely thick. I've had rich and thick broths, so I'm accustomed to it, but with this one, despite the flavor being good, the texture was a bit too much. The pork was great. Egg was okay. Overall 3.5 stars. Azusa Ramen used to be our go to for ramen a few years ago. Their portion sizes are very generous! I love that they do not skimp out on the noodles. Come hungry or be prepared to take home some leftovers. I normally love getting their pork bowl, but went with the Azusa Black ramen bowl this time. The waitress was really kind and said they could honor my request for wavy instead of straight noodles. Unfortunately I still ended up with straight noodles :( the broth itself was rather light tasting despite how heavy it looked. The chashu was a bit tougher than I would have liked. My partner got the Yokohama Style ramen bowl. He loved his! It was just as he remembered it from his college days. If I were to come back again, I would probably order their rice bowls or something other than the Azusa Black. It was a bit underwhelming for a signature dish. read more

Not a bad place! Ordered two tonkotsu ramen and karaage here yesterday, and the food was quite tasty. Some positives: the staff was super friendly and our food came out of the kitchen within 10 minutes for a take-out order. I really liked my tonkotsu broth with mild spice, but the tonkotsu broth with medium spice is quite overpowering and masks the pork broth flavor. The noodles were ok, and I liked the addition of wood ear mushrooms to the ramen. The egg could have been a little better -- even though the yolk had the perfect jam-like consistency of a typical soft-boiled egg, the whites were slightly undercooked. The pork was suuuper tender and very melt-in-your-mouth. The flavor of the karaage was good, but it was soft and not at all crunchy (perhaps this was because it was in a take-out box). Overall, I would come back here again since it's right next to my go-to boba spot! read more

Why shop on Black Friday when you can have some black Azusa ramen to make it a Black Azusa Friday instead? It was a cold and chilly day for Arizona and ramen was on my mind more so than dodging a stampede of people at a local big box store to buy a TV for a pittance. The thought of getting bubble tea from Dayung's next door also was an alluring idea. We got here around lunchtime and were the only customers initially but a few more people came in for to go orders and to eat in a little bit later. The menu consists of appetizers, ramen and rice bowls. All the ingredients in the Azusa black ramen sounded so appetizing so I went with that. The bowl came out in a short amount of time and was a mighty sight to behold. There was a plethora of kikurage (Wood ear mushroom), a large sheet of nori, slices of chashu pork, fried onion, bamboo shoots, sesame seeds, green onion and a whole egg. The pork was soft and meltingly tender, packed with flavor and the soft boiled egg was perfect, with a lovely runny yolk. The noodles were plentiful and had a good "bite" to them. The broth was well seasoned. I could definitely taste the black garlic oil, and while I think this bowl isn't something I'd crave a lot, I appreciate all the elements that they used to put together a pleasant meal. Service was very friendly and sweet. Since they are right next to DaYung's I predict a lot of ramen+bubble tea lunches and dinners in the future for me! read more

Want to give a 3.5 stars on this ramen place. Standard-wise service with small dining room. Very cozy and quiet family-run style. Welcoming interior design with big tables and comfy boothy couches. I ordered a "Azusa Black" with medium spice. Turned out pretty delicious. Spoon feed yourself that hot-oiled and you will fall in love with the flavor. Noodles are just right to the chewy texture. What could we not love about the bamboo pickles and nori dried seaweed in there!!! It's a few vegetables I could get in an Asian restuarant that serves these vegies that makes me feel home! As for the selections on certain food on this meal it is a little uncommon to see they won't accept changes of meat from pork to maybe chicken or beef, as it was mentioned a 5-dollar surcharge would be added on if so... Hence the 3.5 stars since I really don't eat fat pork and that's what we can only find in every ramen except for the vegan one. Overall it's fairly good to stop by and give a shot. A really solid Ramen place in Tempe, I was super happy to find Azusa Ramen right next to DaYung's, my new go-to boba place. I met a friend here for lunch, and service was awesome. Everyone was super friendly and attentive. I went with the Yokohama style ramen, because I really wanted curly noodles. I got it mild with a soft boiled egg (you have to specify soft boiled when ordering), and everything was so yummy. I probably would've loved it even more had I bumped it up to a medium spice level, but it definitely hit the spot. My only complaint is that the chashu, while a nice cut, wasn't quite as flavorful as I expected it to be; it hadn't really soaked up much of the flavor of the broth. My friend went with the Tonkatsu, medium spice, and said it was really great. Portions were a nice good size, definitely worth the price. I wish they had a few more options on their menu, but what we did enjoy was quite tasty. We'll likely be back! read more
