Nishikawa Ramen is a small little ramen shop decorated with anime posters from Naruto, One Piece, and Dragon Ball. There were also cute little trinkets of My Neighbor Totoro. Upon entering, we were free to seat ourselves and chose a booth by the wall. It was not busy at all and the service was quick and friendly. We started off with a large sake bomb paired with a Kirin Light ($15). We then ordered two Tonkotsu Ramens, one medium spice and one hot spice ($15.99 each). Honestly, the hot spice level did not taste spicy at all, so I would recommend going extra hot if you like spice. They also provide chili powder on the table if you want to add more spice yourself. The ramen broth itself could have used a tad more flavor. I lightly added some soy sauce to the broth which is something I often do to add a little kick. I loved all of the toppings included, from the green onions to the kikurage (wood ear mushroom). My favorite part was the pork chashu, which was really tender and delicious. I also appreciated that the ramen came with a full soft boiled egg rather than half an egg, and the egg was perfectly runny. Before leaving, we ordered their tea special that was buy one get one. We got a matcha milk tea and a cafe latte which I forgot to take a photo of. I felt like the cafe latte could have used a little more sweetness to balance it. Also, I found it neat that Nishikawa offers a rewards program, not something I see often at ramen shops. This place was good but the service could use some work. I went in during the mid afternoon for an early dinner and was seated right away but the waitress didn't give me a menu. I sat there for several minutes and when she came back, she asked if I was ready to order. I asked for a menu and then she tapped this little sign on the table that had a QR code on it. I guess they want you to use your phone to look up the menu but then she brought me a printed menu and a glass of water. I had about a minute to look at the menu before the waitress came back and asked what I wanted. I ordered the small portion of the chicken karaage appetizer and the Nishikawa Black Ramen. Both items came out at about the same time. The chicken was good and there was a lot which somewhat surprised me because I thought they had given me a large portion by mistake. The only downside was that the plate was really small so the chicken kept tumbling onto the table. The ramen was just ok. It came in a really big bowl and there was a lot of broth and toppings but relatively little noodles in comparison. It was more like a bowl of soup. The slice of pork was huge but a little bit chewy when I was expecting it to be tender. The egg wasn't sliced so it was difficult to pick up the entire piece with my chopsticks. The chicken was $7 and the ramen was $18. I would have been ok just getting the chicken, perhaps a large portion for $12. I wouldn't get this particular ramen again. With tax and a tip my total was a little over $31 which isn't the most I've spent at a ramen restaurant, but it wasn't cheap either. I wasn't offered a refill on my drink until after I had paid and was ready to leave. In fact, I only saw the waitress once after my food was brought out, and that was when she brought me the bill. Nishikawa Ramen in Phoenix is definitely worth a visit. The vibe is great, quick, to the point with great ramen options. I ordered the Pork Miso, and it was absolutely delicious, rich, flavorful, and really comforting. The service was quick and friendly, and even though I dined inside, everything came out fast and the staff was great the entire time. My husband got the Tonkatsu which was equally delicious. I got mild and he got medium and as someone who can't handle much spice, I probably could have leveled up to the medium spice level. The dine-in experience was solid, but based on how well everything was prepared, I can imagine their takeout would be just as good. I brought my Fiance in here for dinner after picking her up from the airport. I was thoroughly impressed with their Ramen. Their flavors were delicious and authentic in both bowls we had ordered. I had ordered mild heat and for once I agreed with the heat which is hard to do sometimes at these ramen spots. We ordered the gyoza and chicken appetizers and both were delicious and fresh. We had ordered Takoyaki and it was inedible. It tasted old and like it had been refried. It was chewy, fishy and not good so they took it off my bill when I had mentioned it... I think. I did deduct a star for that, but me giving 4 stars for a Ramen restaurant in Arizona is a feat in itself as I have been in some of the best Ramen places in Southern California. We were running errands in the area and decided to stop by for a quick lunch. On this visit, we decided to share the pork gyoza and curry ramen with bean sprouts and pork chashu. I got the katsu bowl and it was ok but I kinda regretted not getting ramen also. I'm gonna try this place again and get one of their ramen dishes. I visited Nishikawa Ramen on a Monday night around 6pm. The restraunt was busy at this time with almost all the seating being used. My waitress came by fairly quickly and was very friendly. I ordered the Tonkontsu Ramen, extra spicy. It took less than 10 minutes for my food to arrive. The ramen was very good, broth was tasty, and it was spicy to my liking. The 1 thing i think could be improved would be the quality of the noodles. They were a little thin, although they make up for it by giving you a little more in your bowl than other restraunts. One of the better ramen spots in the Valley and one I've been to for a while. Been getting Uber Eats on an off for a hot minute but haven't been back for lunch. Weekday lunch used to be super packed, but now I was able to walk in no wait for 2. The great: - Broths: a bit on the lighter side but are the full package I expect. Hearty from tonkotsu, I can actually taste the black garlic oil, and spice levels are great. - Noodles: had a good amount of bite to them, didn't taste like straight up spaghetti. Straight noods were a little thicker than Hakata style. - Appetizers: pretty much can't go wrong with any of them. Oil didn't taste old for those that were fried, gyoza had a nice crispy skirt to them too. - Toppings (most of them): They give you plenty for what's included and nice having the option of both soft and hard boiled eggs The okay/not-so-great: - Chashu: while very meaty, was on the opposite side of firm and fell apart in my chopsticks before I could even take a bite - Menma/Kikurage: One or both of these had a horrible funk to it, didn't taste in house and somehow worse than canned. Left a horrible taste in my mouth and avoided them rest of the meal, but didn't even finish the bowl once I ran out of water. - Topping prices: Your mileage may vary. I love bean sprouts but $2 for a bite and a half wasn't worth it to me. Glad to see Nishikawa is going strong and even seems to be expanding locations, but some of the execution got sloppy and I hope they can turn it around. read more

I love this place and the service is usually amazing. My only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because for some reason, cost probably but they don't regulate their AC. In the summer months you can go in and it's like they just turned it on and the restaurant is barely cooling down. Since their hours are unique It doesn't allow for the restaurant to cool completely. It makes it uncomfortable experience to eat there during the summertime. In Arizona AC is an absolute must. I love the food but I don't want to eat a hot soup in a hot restaurant. I don't mind eating a hot soup and a comfortable restaurant. But it's definitely not even comfortable. I wouldn't take friends and family to eat lunch knowing that we're going to be uncomfortable eating a hot soup and a hot atmosphere. I hope whatever their reasoning for not regulating the temperature gets fixed or they're able to make enough so that they can keep the AC on. That's my only gripe because I want to go eat ramen during the summer time but I can't unless I want to go sweat like I'm working out. read more

Amazing spot for veggie ramen!! I had been craving veggie ramen but it seems every spot was either closed Sundays or deep into Tempe so I ordered pick up from here!
