Angela not only dyed, cut & styled my hair to my complete satisfaction, she walked me through how to truly best take care of my dyed hair. I have received multiple compliments on the color already!! Jessica helped me choose a very natural black brown instead of the dark black that I was leaning towards. I was pleased that the black brown was so natural on me and it feels nice starting the new year with a more vibrant hair color. This salon always plays pleasant music and offers tea or cold drinks. It's a cozy salon and I love that their clientele is extremely diverse. I started coming here many years ago and I couldn't really get away for long but hopefully, I will be staying with Jessica for the coming years for more color and cuts. Jessica is a sweet person with a kind smile. That definitely makes this salon an even better place. Virginia, you refunded my payment (thank you) and I wasn't sure whether to write this. I loved the haircuts I got from you before. But you cannot experiment on people's hair like this. And after this I do not think you should be coloring people's hair at all. I asked you directly before we started if you had knowledge and experience with blonde highlights and you said multiple times yes, and that you definitely could make it happen. But it turned out you had no idea how to do blonde bleach, let alone balayage. Once you rinsed out the bleach and saw how bad it looked, you didn't stop what you were doing to share what had happened. Instead of showing me the results, you applied a super-hot curling wand to give me a big hairstyle so I wouldn't notice the highlights. The wand on the new bleach left it with intense heat damage. The hair is falling out as I write this and my whole head stinks of burnt hair. This did not need to happen - you could have simply told me the truth, that you have no idea what you're doing with blonde highlights, and I would have been able to find someone who does, and my hair would still be healthy right now. Please let me be the last person this happens to.

Prior to coming here, I had my hair cut in Paris. This was the best haircut of my life. Long layers that eventually grew down to waist length. I described what I wanted (my hairstyle for years): cut to mid-boob length, with long layers starting from just above my chin (using my hands to gesture at height), plus thinning throughout because most hairdressers have described my hair as one of the thickest they've ever seen. What I got was a sideway somewhat uneven lob with no layers that ended at the bottom of my neck. This looks especially bad with my thick hair and on days when my hair is particularly voluminous and poofy I feel like a yeti. It will probably take another 6 months for my hair to grow back! I deserve to have my $160 compensated back to me for harm done. I'm so traumatized from this experience that I might go back to cutting my own hair as I did during COVID. When I asked why the length was so short, the hairstylist said this was better than what I wanted. Having already sat through a 1.5h haircut and knowing that long layers were not possible anymore, I didn't complain any further and just wanted to get out of there. I'll add to this that my hairstylist had some unsavory political opinions that should probably be kept private, in Berkeley of all places. I'm not coming back here.
