The issue with B&B Bagels is that they frequently have no bagels to sell, or at least not the kind I would like. I think this is now the second or third time I've returned from the store empty-handed. They simply cannot seem to maintain inventory of standard bagels (like everything bagels, cinnamon bagels, etc.) I'm always told that the bagels are in the oven and that there will be a 10 to 15 minute wait. And this is on a Sunday morning at 9AM! There are too many good alternatives in the neighborhood to keep going to this place. It's hard to rate their actual bagels when they when they frequently have no bagels to sell. read more

Solid bagel shop in the UES! I got the turkey bacon, egg, and cheese on a whole wheat everything bagel. The bagels are on the chewier side, so I think it really comes down to personal preference. The everything bagel had a ton of seasoning and I appreciated that they had turkey bacon as an option since regular bacon is a little too much for me sometimes. The line moves quickly, but after paying for your food it gets a little chaotic waiting for the food and making sure you're picking up the right order since there isn't really a numbering system. Otherwise solid option with the typical spread; will probably be back to try some other items! read more

Surprised this place has anything less than 5 stars. For me, this is the best bagel I have found in the UES. Far better than Bagelworks and H&H. Cute new spot! Average star rating because it was a nice average experience. I commonly frequent PickABagel and H&H Bagels so I'm comparing B&B to them. Owner was very rude. I ordered 2 bagels with nova, and here it is in the expensive side. When the bagels only had tomato, I contacted the owner and asked for a refund. A month later, after no refund, I went into the store. She remembered receiving my call, but got upset when I told her I had to dispute the charge to get a refund. I was a regular customer there, but now I will go to one other the many bagel places in the neighborhood. I am very disappointed in her lack of customer service. Chewy and well-seasoned bagels, tasty cream cheese, and a nice ratio - what more can I ask for? The toasted everything bagel I got was super chewy with lots of seasoning. Sometimes everything bagels can be under or over seasoned with the salt but this one was pretty good. I paired it with the lox cream cheese which was pretty strong with its salmon flavors in addition to the smoked salmon pieces. They were pretty generous with their cream cheese but wasn't an overwhelming amount. The ratio of bagel to cream cheese was also great and appropriate for me! Took a bite of my partner's wheat bagel with scallion cream cheese which was very solid too! They offer a pretty wide range of bagels and cream cheeses as well as other sandwiches and snacks. They limited seating inside but a good amount of outdoor seating. Our bagels took a little longer than expected but it was a busy morning on a weekend and the staff gave us a heads up/apologized. I've now come here a couple of times and I must say their bagels are always fluffy. So good that I picked up a dozen while in NYC to take back to my family in FL! The cream cheese spreads are a bit pricey but worth it. The coffee is very good too so that definitely helps. On my last visit, I met the owner and started talking Hebrew! Very nice! I highly recommend. Just one negative, in order to use the restroom, you must get the key from the counter. I guess they don't want people coming in to just use the restroom. If you have religious beliefs about pork that's fine but don't tell me it's kosher style on a Saturday to justify your deception. The owner responded with he's not kosher style they just don't use pork products. Then advertise that fact instead of using substitutes without the customer knowledge. read more

I was running late for an appointment so I couldn't go to H&H, which is my go-to in this area, but saw that there was a bagel joint with lots of people sitting outside. The inside was really bright and clean too, the staff were super nice and got to my order immediately. Usually, these are promising signs, but I was very disappointed by what I had received. I ordered a sesame bagel with veggie cream cheese ($6) and an iced coffee ($4.75), both of which were painfully average. The bagel was really dense and chewy, to the point where my jaw was getting tired from chewing and the coffee tasted watered down. Honestly, I would rate B&B two stars, but I will add another star because they are fast workers and I managed to get to my appointment on time. Prices are crazy high. A small Natalie's OJ is $8.00 but there's no label on the bottle so you'll get caught at the register in shock. I see the owner keeps responding to people saying that the prices are high because the quality is high, but OJ comes in a bottle and is half the price anywhere else. And there are tons of great bagel stores in the area with fair prices, so if you can't see that people don't want to pay $30 for a bagel sandwich, OJ and coffee, the people will just stop shopping there. Might be worth noting how many people are disturbed by the ridiculous pricing. (Unless the cost of goods has gone so way up the shop doesn't have a choice? Which I have sympathy for. But I don't see him saying that anywhere... and right now, one can get the same food close by for far less.) read more
