FOOD: We ordered a bag of 3 bagels-- everything, poppy seed & salt. The bagels were cute, medium sized and served warm/hot. We chose the scallion cream cheese which came in a lil container. Apparently the bagels are not made in the traditional manner, but they were still delicious with great texture and taste. We also ordered the tea (ok) and strawberry lemonade (yum). We enjoyed our bagels on the little countertop area outside. OVERALL: Definitely recommend! The popular popup bagels did not disappoint. When we got there, the line was super long but don't let that fool you because it went by so quickly. You have to appreciate how fast paced and efficient the vibe of the restaurant was. You pop in, grab a few bagels, pop out. We ordered the three bagels in a bag deal with a big container of scallion shmear which we shamefully almost finished. Went to a EARLY morning free pop up event in the area and heard of this spot. I was a little hesitant because of the the line being so long however, I had to try the Grillo's Schmear. I was ordering bagels for my team at work and got 2 3-sets so that we could try two schmears (it's cheaper than getting a 6-pack and ordering an additional schmear). Even after waiting an hour to try them, the bagels felt fresher and lighter than I remember which was nice. However, only upon opening it at the office did I realize that the server gave me the wrong bagels than what was written on the bag by giving me an everything instead of a poppy. Sort of a bummer. PopUp Bagels is definitely a unique bagel experience. There are a lot of great things about the concept, but it's not perfect, and it won't be for everyone. The highlights are the unparalleled freshness and warmth of each bagel; as everyone else has said, these are meant to be eaten immediately and are purposely served right out of the oven. The dough is soft and chewy and the outside has a nice crunch. The cream cheese (we had the scallion) is pure, fresh, oniony creaminess, and you will probably have some leftover. We also got very very lucky with the wait time: We waited five minutes tops, just enough time to decide on our bagel flavors (everything, poppy, and salt). We were also gifted a fourth free bagel, which was lovely, though I suspect it was because the bagel had been out of the oven for too long as it was a little cooler than the rest. But not complaining... a free bagel is always welcome! As for the downsides, I thought that the flavor of the dough itself could've been a little better -- it was missing the signature slightly-sweet yeastiness of NY bagels. Also, i understand that the business model kind of mandates the need to purchase three at one time (to ensure that they're super hot and fresh), but it's also a little annoying because you really have to come with at least one other person. The bagels really do not hold up as well if you wait (they're still totally fine! just missing the freshness that makes them so special), so it doesn't make as much sense to come solo unless you're really hungry. And finally, I do feel like we felt a bit rushed to eat quickly since it was a cold day and we ate outside (they don't really have seating inside). If in the area, I would come back to try one of their rotating cream cheese flavors. When Leon's has a line that is much too long for you to make it to work on time, you really can't go wrong with PopUp Bagels. They're a little smaller than your typical NY bagel, but they've got great texture and plenty of flavor in their limited toppings. The salt, sesame, and everything are all delicious. One thing that's important to note about PopUp is that they don't cut their bagels. These bagels are meant to be torn and dipped into cream cheese (the pickle cream cheese is GREAT). They're easy to tear, even after they cool down, and it's an all around good NY bagel. You want them to be a little bigger, but that might make them more a beast to dip. Also, the people at this location are super nice and always seem to compliment your choices. This is a great bagel! If I could give it 1/2 more stars , I would! It's a damn great bagel! Got the usual, an Everything and Sesame. The inside dough is soft and fluffy but not bready. It has a pull and elastic chewiness. I think I wanted just a slight more pull and had a little more air inside but it was pretty perfect. It also had a nice covering of seeds and topping and it stuck pretty welll to the bagel vs losing it on the floor or inside the bag. The outside was also very crispy and chewy. The best part was that this bagel was piping hot when we got them. It was too hot to put in the mouth. I've never gotten my bagel right out of the oven. It was so amazing and nice! I actually waited for the second bagel to cool completely so I could compare to other bagels. They also had a nice scallion cream cheese. Nuthin to write home about but was good.
