We visited mid-morning on a Friday and the line was fortunately short. INTERIOR: Small shop with limited area to wait for orders. SERVICE: Friendly. Orders completed timely. FOOD: We ordered a bag of 3 bagels-- everything, poppy seed & salt. The bagels were cute, medium sized and served warm/hot. We chose the scallion cream cheese which came in a lil container. Apparently the bagels are not made in the traditional manner, but they were still delicious with great texture and taste. We also ordered the tea (ok) and strawberry lemonade (yum). We enjoyed our bagels on the little countertop area outside. OVERALL: Definitely recommend! A different bagel experience than some other places (as in, those places where you are served bagels topped with cream cheese and other things) but we enjoyed the simplicity of the bagels and controlling the amount of cream cheese. read more

Visit June 2026: I'm admittedly not a bagel expert but when in NYC a bagel is a must. Supposedly so is eating a street hot dog but I'm not too sure on that lol. Anyways, the girls had bookmarked another bagel establishment but the line was hella long like they were giving away Knicks gear for free. Ironically another "bagel shop" search on Yelp showed PopUp Bagels was like three doors down lol. No line! That in itself was making me question but there is a PopUp in San Diego that my daughter swears by. PopUp advertised itself as "Not Famous, but known." Whether or not this bagel is better than the one store three doors up is something I cannot attest to. However I can say THIS WAS A DANG GOOD BAGEL! And it was freshly made! How do I know? It literally burned my fingers when I ripped it open! The pain was worth it. Outside, a slightly crisp texture generously coated with "Everything". Inside was a dense and chewy dough that was pliable but able to withstand the dipping and shmearing of cream cheese (which was smooth). Best I have ever had for sure but then again my most common bagel experience is the place named after a scientist where tons of bagels are sitting in bins for who knows how long. So why wasn't this a 5-star experience? One, I only ate one thing. Two, sevice and setting are "just there". Considering it wasn't busy I would expect a bit more of a welcome. To eat you're bagel you can full on just leave, sit at the three stools inside where it is super hot (bc hey they actually cook), or three stand outside. There is a little, I'll say "patio", where you can stand, eat, and true story, watch two people argue about who gets to sort through the recyclables from the neighborhood eateries. Snack and a show???? I just stood near the door and enjoyed my bagel. read more

The bagel itself is pretty solid. It's fluffy and got a nice texture to it. Honestly though, I'm not sure I really fugg with the whole concept. You cannot order a single bagel, you must order your bagels in 3s. So if you're not a big back and instead are a loser with no friends, you might have more bagels than you can eat. The bagels come whole and you're supposed to rip them and dip them into the cream cheese, and there's many smears to choose from, which is a plus. However, this requires a two hand situation, which means it's difficult to eat on the go, and the seating inside is limited. I did not realize this at first and I was trying to slice my bagel in half with a butter knife, and I failed and started ripping it to shreds in a fit of passion and rage. That when I saw their neon sign that says "GRIP. RIP. DIP," which sounds sexual, and realized that's the concept and intention. My advice--if you're gonna visit, come with a couple friends so you can try the bagels without having to eat 3. And bring hand sanitizer so you're not ripping up the bagel with your filthy subway fingers. read more

I've been waiting to try this for quite some time and on my way to work I stopped by quickly. Whole selections is not a lot, I still had a hard time making my selection! The staff member was helpful and patient with me. I went with the salted bagel and everything bagel. This week's schmear was spinach artichoke cream cheese and Sabatino truffle butter. I went with the butter and wasn't a bad choice. Will return to try the cream cheese! read more

So far, one of the favorite bagel finds if you want something not too crazy and simple yet jammed packed with flavor. The everything bagel with creamy garlic dip was such a fun eat. I usually eat my bagel like this anyways but popping by a dedicated shop just for it, hits right on the mark. read more

I've seen the hype and I hate to admit it, but this was one of my favorite bagels of the trip. I do think 1 cream cheese better serves six bagels, but the everything bagel was perfectly warm with a great bite on the outside and a fluffy inside. Unfortunately I think they forgot the salt in their sesame bagel dough because the flavor was flat. The staff were nice and friendly though and I enjoyed the interior decor. read more

I tried the everything bagel with scallion cream cheese and it was so good! The bagel was the perfect pull-apart texture, though maybe everything bagel wasn't the best choice because the toppings were falling everywhere, but it was nonetheless delicious! The scallion cream cheese was creamy and fragrant. It was the perfect combo. Fortunately, no line at the time I went (~1pm on a Friday) and the staff was very kind in providing my friends and I some plates so we can enjoy our bagels in the shop. read more

It really doesn't get better than Popup Bagels after a night out. Their warm rip and dip bagels paired with butter and/or cream cheese is truly so delicious. I would eat this every morning for breakfast and never get sick of it. Always nice staff working too! read more

This is a small bagel spot. Went in for a bagel with butter. So I ordered a bagel with vanilla berry butter. Didn't realize they sell the bagels by 3s. Silly me just wanted one bagel. I was able to "try before I buy" and I can understand the hype. The bagels are delicious, airy and soft. Could've eaten 3 in one sitting. Go for the bagels. read more

I really wanted to dislike this hyped-up spot but, damn it, the bagels and schmear were delicious. We ordered the three bagels in a bag deal with a big container of scallion shmear which we shamefully almost finished. The bagels (one salt, one everything, and one sesame) were delivered absolutely piping hot and super fresh. They were delicious, with the salt one being the winner. The schmear was excellent, too. Zero line on a random weekday. The inside is as small as a closet but there is a standing area directly outside where you can and should enjoy your freshly-born bagels. read more

I love popup bagels!! I am a sucker for a good bagel, so I had been dying to try this place. For a Saturday morning the line was super quick, we waited maybe 10 min. We got a mix of everything and salt bagels, and the scallion cream cheese and pesto butter. In my opinion you can never have brought cream cheese/butter on a bagel, so dipping your bagel is the perfect idea. There was a cute French bulldog keeping an eye on the establishment, extra points for that. read more

The popular popup bagels did not disappoint. When we got there, the line was super long but don't let that fool you because it went by so quickly. You have to appreciate how fast paced and efficient the vibe of the restaurant was. You pop in, grab a few bagels, pop out. As for the food themselves, we got plain and an everything bagel with some scallion schmear. The bagels were cooked perfectly. When you tore one open, steam would come out so you know they're fresh. They were so fluffy and tasted amazing. This is not even mentioning how they tasted paired with the light flavorful cream cheese. Came back to try the mac and cheese cream cheese! Again bagels were delicious! Better than last time... perhaps because I ate them inside and while they were still hot! I love the mac and cheese cream cheese- mac and cheese is one of my favorite foods! This tastes like cream cheese mixed with mac and cheese powder- the bright orange is a tad unsettling though nostalgic. I actually rather liked it! Overall, I will be returning! Bravo! read more

Went to a EARLY morning free pop up event in the area and heard of this spot. I was a little hesitant because of the the line being so long however, I had to try the Grillo's Schmear. Though the line was line, it moved quickly. I purchased three everything bagels ( I think that is the minimum purchase) with the Grillo's (limited time). I waited 10 mins for fresh bagels. While waiting there was few seats available and I was able to grab one, music playing so I was vibing, it was crowded and customer service was friendly while entering the crowd. NOW let me tell you when I got home, I happily got settled to eat my bagel and it was worth the longgg line and the 10 min wait. OMGOODNESS... I have NEVER enjoyed a bagel as much as I enjoyed PopUp.. The bagel was sooo soft, NOT dry..The schmear was the RIGHT amount, I was able to break my bagel, dip and eat. Since I was the only one eating I double dipped as much as I wanted lol...If your bagel lover PLEASE Try em! read more

The line can definitely get long for this place but everything was straight forward. The staff was friendly and helpful. This small place is a grab and go type of place with barely any seating. The bagels here are made fresh and taste great when they are hot so I recommend not waiting to eat them.I got the everything bagel and the poppy seed bagel with scallion cream cheese. The bagels were coated well and were good quality. Definitely would come back to try their other cream cheeses. read more

I was so excited to try PopUp after seeing so many Tiktoks about it! Me and my friend split 3 bagels, and opted for the plain, salt, and sesame bagels. For the spread, we got Kaylor's Tearamisu schmear. It's so fun that they have rotating flavors each week and the fact that I am a Love Island fan. I was very impressed! There was a little bit of a line, but it moves very fast. My favorite bagels were the salt and plain as the sesame conflicted a little bit with the schmear. I would love to go back to PopUp next time I'm in NYC and see what flavors are there then! read more

Updated review a year later-- the bagels are better but the customer service is worse. Came on a weekday morning so no line at all. I was ordering bagels for my team at work and got 2 3-sets so that we could try two schmears (it's cheaper than getting a 6-pack and ordering an additional schmear). Even after waiting an hour to try them, the bagels felt fresher and lighter than I remember which was nice. However, only upon opening it at the office did I realize that the server gave me the wrong bagels than what was written on the bag by giving me an everything instead of a poppy. Sort of a bummer. The guy taking my order was also not very friendly, so the incorrect order fulfillment felt like icing on the cake. Overall I would say it's still worth going, but check your order when you receive it. read more

I casually walk by this block on the weekends and the lines are ridiculous. Actually, it's not even a line, more like a jumbled crowd of people. Between these guys and their neighbor bagel spot, you can't walk on this side of the street. I decided to give them a try today via UberEATS. I ordered one plain and two everything bagels along with the scallion cream cheese and schmear of the week. The bagels were nice and warm even with the delivery. The flavor of the week is Mike's Hot Honey Peach. The first thing I did was grab the bread knife and got yelled at by my wife. Apparently you're supposed to rip and dip these bagels. It says so on the bag, I just didn't read. So I'll admit these bagels are legit. And I love the dipping concept. Would I wait for these in the crowd? Hell no. Would I order them on UberEATS again? Omg, this is what bagel dreams are made of! The bagel was nice and fluffy and warm upon ordering, it was so so good...we ordered the everything, plain and salt bagel - each and everyone one was incredible, dipped in the scallion schmear - that's the only way to go. Don't grab a knife to neatly spread the schmear into your bagel, just rip and dip! We came on a Friday an hour before close and luckily the wait wasn't anything ridiculous. I don't understand the hype. The bagels are good, just like any bagel shop in NYC. I tasted better. I'm visiting from Cali, so this is my only visit here. The service is excellent, and they get busy, which tells me they are very popular. You cannot get just one bagel; you must order at least a set of three. Since I had to wait 15 minutes for the plain bagel to be ready, they gave me an extra free one. You can choose from different kinds of cream cheese. They have an outdoor standing area, and some parks are within walking distance from their shop. read more

Everything bagel is one of the best if not the best I've had in NYC. Seasoned and salted but not too salty or overpowering. Bagel was packaged so fresh I had to wait a good ten minutes to let the damn thing cool down before biting into it...but when I did, I couldn't stop eating it. After visiting PopUp Bagels at their location in Boston's Seaport, I had high hopes for this location as well. I'm glad to say PopUp Bagels delivered - bagels were fresh and tasty, cream cheese flavors offered your classics as well as specialty flavors to spice things up (they also don't skimp on cream cheese serving size!), service was friendly and efficient, and the store has such a great vibe! There was a line but it moved quick - waited a max of 5 minutes. The salt and sesame bagels were top favorites that we've tried. During this visit to NYC, we also tried Apollo bagels in the west village which we didn't rate as high - if I had to pick one bagel spot to visit, I would wholeheartedly say PopUp! read more

I understand the hype now... we went at around 8 AM and there was no line. We ordered the ramp smear (which was their seasonal) and 3 bagels (everything, plain, and sea salt). We were planning to take it home, but we were tempted to eat it there since it was hot and fresh and ended up eating all 3 there. we actually had these while standing in line for Leon's Bagels (a little snack for the long wait). My friends had time to go run to pop up get bagels and then bring them to the exact same spot we were standing in line for Leon's. And let me tell you these were much better than Leon's bagels unfortunately. You have to eat these bagels fresh though. These are perfect for a grab and go and can honestly be eaten so easily. They are perfect. Even the lady behind us got mad that we were eating bagels while in line for other bagels lol. Oh well overall really good experience and taste. read more

I have no idea why everyone is going ballistic over Pop-up Bagels. Even though the bagels are served warm, the temperature does little to offset the poor texture and flavorless nature of their bagels. I'd rather eat a day-old Kaiser roll from any supermarket. Plus, their "schmear" is nothing special. Go support any one of the hundreds of local bagel shops in NYC--likely, they'll make food that actually tastes good. read more

When Leon's has a line that is much too long for you to make it to work on time, you really can't go wrong with PopUp Bagels. They're a little smaller than your typical NY bagel, but they've got great texture and plenty of flavor in their limited toppings. The salt, sesame, and everything are all delicious. One thing that's important to note about PopUp is that they don't cut their bagels. These bagels are meant to be torn and dipped into cream cheese (the pickle cream cheese is GREAT). They're easy to tear, even after they cool down, and it's an all around good NY bagel. You want them to be a little bigger, but that might make them more a beast to dip. Also, the people at this location are super nice and always seem to compliment your choices. You'll leave feeling like you make a good choice, then you'll confirm it while eating your PUBs. read more

PopUp Bagels is definitely a unique bagel experience. There are a lot of great things about the concept, but it's not perfect, and it won't be for everyone. The highlights are the unparalleled freshness and warmth of each bagel; as everyone else has said, these are meant to be eaten immediately and are purposely served right out of the oven. The dough is soft and chewy and the outside has a nice crunch. The cream cheese (we had the scallion) is pure, fresh, oniony creaminess, and you will probably have some leftover. We also got very very lucky with the wait time: We waited five minutes tops, just enough time to decide on our bagel flavors (everything, poppy, and salt). We were also gifted a fourth free bagel, which was lovely, though I suspect it was because the bagel had been out of the oven for too long as it was a little cooler than the rest. But not complaining... a free bagel is always welcome! As for the downsides, I thought that the flavor of the dough itself could've been a little better -- it was missing the signature slightly-sweet yeastiness of NY bagels. Also, i understand that the business model kind of mandates the need to purchase three at one time (to ensure that they're super hot and fresh), but it's also a little annoying because you really have to come with at least one other person. The bagels really do not hold up as well if you wait (they're still totally fine! just missing the freshness that makes them so special), so it doesn't make as much sense to come solo unless you're really hungry. And finally, I do feel like we felt a bit rushed to eat quickly since it was a cold day and we ate outside (they don't really have seating inside). If in the area, I would come back to try one of their rotating cream cheese flavors. As for the bagels, I would get the everything again, but - as much as I love salt - the salt one it was a tad too much for me in some spots. I would try the plain and sesame, though! read more

On my last trip to New York, we went to PopUp Bagels twice, it was that good. We even grabbed some right before our flight back to Cali. The bagels are super fresh, perfectly chewy with a crisp outer layer. There was no wait both times we went, which was a nice surprise. It's a really small shop with just a few seats, definitely more of a grab-and-go spot. But if you're in the area, it's 100% worth stopping by. A must for bagel lovers. read more

My friends and I came around 2pm on a Sunday, which is technically when they close, but they were thankfully still open! We got the $13 3-pack of the everything bagel with their signature scallion smear and their $12 Smoked Salmon pack. As a first timer should have ask more questions on the ordering process since the minimum order is 3 so my bad. Had the basic plain 3 pack with scallion schmear and it was a nice easy way to walk & eat this moist on the inside, crunch on the outside perfectly sized carb bite. The schmear added the right amount of salt and savory to the blank canvas so putting away 3 bagels was not a problem. Service was quick and the guys were super nice and hoping for a return trip to try the other options. read more

Perfect texture, something NYC can proudly own about our bagels, and the cream cheese was just right! I thoroughly enjoyed it. The next day I had one of the plain bagels and it was just as fresh as the first day. Perfect texture and even more fulfilling the next day. Let's just say that the next time I'm home, I want to try more of their incredible bagels!

On the right there are small tables for you to sit, while on the left there are standing tables. Apollo Bagels specializes in their sourdough bagel and offers 3 variations (plain, sesame, or everything). They have a couple of bagel toppings to choose from, my favorite being the tomatoes, which add a nice refreshing taste balanced with a coating of olive oil and salt and pepper. I added a scallion cream cheese for $1 more and it was great. Heads up, they also have vegan cream cheese that you can sub for $1 more. Other than that, the salmon is good and the whitefish is a silent killer of a combo. The pickled cucumbers mixed with the saltiness of the salad were chef's kiss.

On my second visit I decided on the bergamot honey latte--again it see very good...the bergamot is there but not over powering. This time I got the banana bread and it was superb! Take your coffee and treats to the park across the street with benches. You can people watch and enjoy your morning coffee!!
