9-8 & 9-09 First time at this retail store in Camarillo. I am here house sitting and had a blow out in the watering system. I was greeted by Alley's bright smile and "heck yes- I can help you today" ATTITUDE. She was most hospitable and warm. She helped me with what I think I needed. Grateful for the early store opening to drop by to return yesterdays purchases to get a CLAMP! Alley called me by name like I was her neighbor and it felt amazing. Small town values are not lost ! I loved this place. Very friendly! Cute spot- Unfortunately there was a deduction on communication. Things I bought, 1x3 (2) under $6 for two, plywood backing under $8, wood sealant under $8, succulent plant of 6- under $4, Chicken wiring. under .60 cents....I asked if they wood cut wood they said for a labor fee of $5.00 (ea.15min) I asked how long he'd think it would take him he said 15minutes. They also have glass cars, ranging at $8ish - UP which I usually see online when I'm contemplating new projects. Here's the complaint I was at the store 45 minutes, partly because we lost the other as I was looking around. What I thought would be $5.00, turned out to be $11.00 because the manager said to not charge for the labor but $1.00 per cut, which was 10 cuts, he then added $1.00 for labor. My total bill was $6.00 more than what I was expecting to pay prior to him even preceding. Not to mention, I didn't CHECK the wood cut pieces (I was making a shadow box for a frame), and he was 3inch off on the width parts for it, (that's $4, not cut right.) Thankfully it dawned on me that I had a non-electric saw lying around the house and began cutting those pieces. I suggest if having your wood cut and working on a specific project, go back into the shop and verify the pieces were cut properly. I was grateful for the cutting, which saved me time, ungrateful for the mix-up and lack of communication. (Being honest). read more

We always try to support our local businesses and try and shop locally first. I would shop there at B&B even with higher prices just to help the little guy. If you need a few things, common, typical hardware store things, you might be able to find what you need. But it's so difficult when there's big chain stores that have everything you need and then some. What's good about this place is that they have some unique and fun decorative things and other stuff. It's a great place to find a little gift or some cute decoration for your yard or house. Anything more than that and I'm afraid I will have to go to you know where. One thing I certainly expected in a smaller place like this is good friendly service which we did not get. Employee seemed or interested talking to each other... That's the one thing they can do to make things better there. Apparently Lowes was listening because we got plenty of help there this time they have stepped up their game.... I needed a fluorescent light. I tried Lowes and couldn't find any local business until I called B&B. They had the size I needed and I can bring in my old tubes so they can recycle them for me. This was wonderful, I was looking for many months. This is my new favorite store. I will check here first before I go anywhere else. read more

I truly undervalue this store! Just yesterday, I dropped by to pick up some plant food. I was in and out in less than 5 mins. At our local Home Depot, it takes me at least 5 mins to find out where everything is located. The fact is I'm a casual do-it yourselfer at best! There is no need for me to go to a behemoth store like a Home Depot. I'm guessing there are more than a few people who like me come to their sense and go to a store like his for their do-it yourself needs. They have everything a regular person like me would ever need from fertilizer to tools and everything in between. Most importantly, getting in and out is so fast its awesome...like me you'll be on to the thing you really want to doing. read more

B and B Do It Center is perfect for a do it to your selfer like me. I can go in there and ask my stupid questions and not feel intimidated by a gent in an orange vest. I can go here and actually find people to talk to who will answer my question. As opposed to Home Depot, where when I see an associate and they see me, they run the other way. B and B Do It Center has all of the items that you are looking for. The prices are comparable to HD and Lowe's. They are also the most attentive and professional staff compared to any other home repair and hardware store. Love this hardware store. They all seem really helpful & nice to talk to, directing you to the place that you needed when you walk in. They have a great colorful, interesting collection of knickknacks for the garden or indoors as well as the essentials that one would go in there for. The worst customer service ever, I will not go back. I was doing a return for my boyfriend who is away at work for 7 dollars he purchased originally with his debit card. First Christine the manager said yes she will give me a refund of 7 dollars. Then she changed her mind during the transaction and said wait I can only do store credit. She was so un sure and very unprofessional and rude I can't believe she was the manager. read more

The service here is not only far superior to Home Depot (a low bar at best) but also way better than the Green Thumb in Ventura. It's even EASY to get help here! The people are not only knowledgeable but responsive. At Green Thumb I've spent as much as 2 hours on the phone, trying to get information on an order!! And in their store, you have to hunt down help and you wait on them. At B&B, it's as simple as looking up to get prompt and expert assistance! Why go anywhere else? read more

I have gone here to buy plants, pots, soil, and accessories for my home in Camarillo. I initially went there because it's a smaller business than the big box hardware/garden centers. I don't think I'll go back for a few simple reasons: the assistance I've received has been spotty -- sometimes helpful, othertimes not, depending on who you ask; prices aren't competitive; selection isn't as great (although they have a nice collection of attractive Mexican pottery). But on balance is this place worth it? No. I wouldn't mind shopping here if the service outweighed the other factors. But honestly, I've gotten terrific help at the Home Depot which is about 2 miles away. Oh, and, I suspect that this review will be reported to Yelp because it's negative in nature. They complained about a friend of mine's review that it was "out of scope" of Yelp or something along those lines. Buyer beware, I guess. read more

We have always preferred this store to the local Big Box stores for many reasons, including the great service, despite the prices being higher. To us it was worth it. The staff have always gone out of their way to be helpful. That all changed recently due to an unfriendly cashier (Manager?) with a big chip on his shoulder....GREGORY! I thought perhaps he was just having a bad day, so gave him the benefit of the doubt. On a return visit, it appears he's just plain rude. Maybe he's in the wrong environment....He's certainly not a people person. Looks like we'll be shopping at Home Depot. read more

Love this hardware and garden center. They somehow always have a much better selection of herbs, plants, flowers, and prettier pots with more options than even much larger chain stores have. Also, the staff are consistently friendly and very helpful. Home Depot was giving me the run around of my life trying to order a non toxic clear coat wood stain for a garden bed I built and B & B Do it Center found exactly what I needed and ordered it for me arriving in under 48hrs, with better pricing than Amazon which is huge. Truly saddens me to see a staff member (cashier) today completely bashing Home Depot of how Terrible they are. With really no justification, as the conversation went on. With that said. Be careful what you say. Be careful what you do. You never know who your taking to. I will make a point not to go there anymore and drive the 5 minutes to HD for even the smallest item ( just as I just did at the do it center) they will no longer receive money from me. I have over the years spent 1000s of $ there as a contractor. But I feel it's worth the drive for better attitude from staff. read more

This is the closest hardware store near where I live so I go here if I need anything. That being said during the pandemic I started to collect plants from the big box stores until I started purchasing them (Along with pots, accents, etc.,) from B&B. They take excellent care of their plants and the staff in the gardening section is very knowledgeable. I stop in once a month because they always bring in some interesting stuff. read more

I have been going here for 28 years. It's like "Cheers" but not a bar. Everybody knows your name ;). They have a lot of stuff the big box place won't have. Some stuff is even cheaper than big box. Plus its saves time too. Staff knows exactly where everything is, they know their stuff. Their nut and bolt section is 2nd to none, Everything you could possibly need, you don't have to buy it in bulk either. Rochelle knows that store better than anyone and is always willing to help and go the extra mile to find the part or solution to what you need. Thank you Rochelle Baker! You are the best. I went in to return my solar chandelier.I had tried new batteries and everything I could think of to get it to work, but it would not work. I was so excited to find it. I bought the solar chandelier to hang in our pigs "pork palace". I was way too disappointed when it didn't work. The light stayed in my car for three months. I was cranky and reluctantly returning my broken treasure, when Rochelle asked me what was wrong with it. I told her about all of my efforts. She took the light while the other kind woman completed my return. Soon they were both working on the light. As I left the store I told them to please contact me immediately if they could get it working. About ten minutes later I got the call that they had fixed the light. I cannot tell you how happy we are and how beautiful the pig house looks. Thank you so much! You didn't even have to try but you did and it works. I LOVE this store! I live in Thousand Oaks but have family and favorite restaurants in Camarillo so whenever I'm in town, I make it a point to stop there. They always have what I need, are extremely helpful and knowledgeable and always a happy crew! So I start my visit by being greated by a friendly lady at the front, then I walk to an isle that I think has what I'm looking for. This kind gentleman, Jeremy, comes over and asks if I have found what I'm looking for and I tell him I'm absolutely lost. He then shows me exactly what I need (which was little fasteners for my truck) and he even placed an order for the rest since they did not carry enough (I had a big order) and even helped me instal them on my truck. Overall I was pleased and will definitely try this store instead of a big name, like Home Depot, first. Getting 5 stars because of friendly service, quick answers, easy order (even though it took them twice to order, but they made up for the wait with a small discount), and last but not least a helpfulness. Their selection for many things is much smaller than Home Depot or Lowes, except for one very important area. For hardware, like screws, bolts, and various small hardware like bushings, connectors, light bulbs, fuses, etc., they're much, much, much better than Home Depot. These items can be quite expensive, and are probably subject to a lot of theft in a big box like Home Depot. But in a smaller place, like B&B they can keep a better eye on it. If you need to replace a particular screw, for example a metric, M4- 0.70, 50 mm, or a SAE socket head, 10-24,3/4" stainless, you can find it there, but absolutely not at Home Depot. read more

B&B has been my go-to place for over 20 years. I've entrusted them with my key cutting at every turn, yet now they turn on their customers and deny us a basic service because they messed up and ruined someone's $200 key and now refuse to cut keys brought to them by the customer who understandably was upset. Value of mine $15. Hope that was worth the hundred of dollars I will be spending elsewhere each year. Pity everyone has to be tarred with the same brush, I used to like them. read more
