When I'm tired of looking for help at Dome Hepot, where all I hear are echos of my calls for help, I go here and get service as soon as I walk in. They usually have everything you need for small projects and the kids love that they have ladybugs to eat the aphids on the roses. Nice bathroom in the back of the store. read more

What's nice about this place is that most people over 30 who work here can actually help you. They can give you ideas for projects you are working on and are truly helpful I love their fastener section. They have loose nuts, bolts, screws, washers etc. that you don't see elsewhere. I even bought hog rings here. And they knew what they were when I asked! Pricing is hit and miss. Frequently they are cheaper than Home Depot, like when I used to buy Auto Primer, but they are also more expensive on many things. Overall it's a wash. It's nicer to go to a store where you can be helped, even if they have a smaller selection. I would much rather give my business to this place than Home Depot, specifically because of many of the staff members. read more

Our office is located across the street from B & B and we pop by several times a week to grab miscellaneous hardware items from key cutting, screen re-meshing, to plumbing fixtures. The staff is extremely courteous and helpful. I especially appreciate Roger, the store manager, for his welcoming charm and neighborhood hospitaliity. I reckon I am paying a few bucks more than I would at the big box stores, but you get what you pay for with service, convenience and quality. read more

If it is possible, and they are open, I will always come here first before home depot. They support local, have the same staff over the years (yey employees!), and are always so damn nice. I have never had any problems here, it's my go to place. I understand they're more mom & pop and won't have the hours as big box, so I will not fault them for that. When you walk in and go to the right you'll see a bunch of cute things to your right...thats where you'll find some good stuff...I wish they had a bigger clearence isle...I love looking through those things and finding the deals. read more

A few years ago, I bought a hose spray at B&B where I've been shopping for nearly twenty years--as is my habit, when I buy that kind of tool or appliance, I usually pop for the extra $$s because I assume a store like this charges more because the product promises and delivers more. A few weeks ago, my trusty, expensive spray gave up the ghost. Like must putterers, I continued to use it by adapting my behavior to the now-below standard operation of the broken nozzle. An hour ago, I decided to go back, with the sprayer, and ask if there was any kind of warranty, etc., because I had trashed all the paperwork that came with it. The young man cashiering said they did not carry that brand anymore (Nelson, I think). So, I put it down on the counter and went and picked out a replacement (a Julien), when I got back to pay, the young man said his manager told him to let me have whatever I picked out as a replacement--it was of similar quality, not as solid but the best on the rack. It was one of those wonderful retail/customer moments when I felt that my continuing loyalty to the store was merited. I have no idea how other patrons think this place is friendly. Unfriendly service 4 out of 5 times I've been in. Had to ask for help every time I've shopped there and only once did they actually help me. And my last visit was enough to make me post this review. Recently went in looking for a screw that mounts an electrical panel. After searching their bins I couldn't find one. An employee comes out of a nearby aisle and sees me, and doesn't say anything. I have to ask him if he's free to help me. Then I show him the screw I'm looking for and he tries to tell me to use a different screw with a washer because they don't have those screws (he didn't even bother searching by the way). I replied to him that my purpose for coming in was to find the RIGHT screw, and cover an unsightly hole in the panel -- so if I wanted to use hack solution, I could've done so without coming in to this store (I have plenty of assorted screws and washers at home). To make matters worse, I told him that I'd like to find a matching pan head screw he fires back, "that's a truss screw, not a pan head!" Oh, sorry. Thanks for correcting me. I guess I'll just go somewhere else and do the remainder of my shopping where the employees aren't jerks. Funny, these guys think they know so much, but he didn't know that using just a common sheet metal screw with standard threading will actually strip the hole. I had already tried one and after a half turn it jams because of the mismatched threading. It turns out that the threading on the proper screw is a quick-spin thread that helps electricians mount and dismount the panels more quickly. Maybe I should go there and correct him in the same snarky way he corrected me? Nah, I can be better than that, thanks. You know... you can correct people in a way that doesn't patronize, and when I'm there I never feel welcome, and feel like I'm bothering them. Not impressed with their selection, not impressed with their prices, and thought maybe they could save themselves on service, but they don't. read more

Love this place!!! The staff is very friendly! Everyone is very knowledgeable and helpful!! I couldn't ask for a better place. I have been having problems with our sprinklers and every few days I was stopping in for more things to fix it. One of the guys told me how to fix the problem and saved me money. For the last 7 projects, the employees here have been able to help. I used to go to HD but after the poor to zero customer service there (not everytime for sure but enough times to irritate) I drive over to Do It Center and get the right material with solid credible advice and great selection of hard to find parts. It's the service & selection that brings my steering wheel there and not HD. Sorry HD, you don't train your employees enough or care about your customers enough and it shows. read more

This is the BEST hardware store. Somehow, they have everything you need despite being about 1/10th the size of Home Depot. And plenty of coworkers to ask questions. Great bulk section of screws so you don't have to buy a whole box when you only need a few. read more

Love, love, love this store. We've been going here since we moved to Camarillo in 1998. I love that it's a family owned local business. The employees are sooooooooooooooo helpful and friendly. The have such unique décor for both inside your home and outside in the garden. I will also say that I've compared prices on many of their items (butterfly and bird feeders, solar lighting, garden décor) and the prices at B & B are very competitive with other stores and online. They also have the frequent buyer program that send monetary coupons your way. I hate to point out only one person by name because everybody there helps out so much; however, Mary knows so much about plants, birds, pollinators, anything having to do with maintaining a thriving and peaceful garden. I seem to be one of the few who also has great things to say out our local Home Depot; however, you just can't get the service at Home Depot that you get here. read more

If you're home-improvementally challenged like I am, you NEED B & B Do It Center! They are very helpful & when you go in there, they will even approach you to ask if you need any help- can imagine that (for anyone who has tried to get help in a big box home improvement place)? I would never go anywhere else when I undertake any kind of project.. They havemost everything in the store and they are more than willing to help you with any problem you may be having with a home repair issue. They even used to have compllimentary donuts & coffee in the morning, and great BBQ samples on weekend afternoons until some idiot made a health dept complaint- hey, here's a thought: if you don't think the food is safe to eat- DON'T EAT ANY!! They still have the coffee in the morning, but now it has to be supplied by a "licensed purveyor" so we don't all get salmonella poisoning or something worse.. Thanks a million for being here B & B, you are a fine example of a real old-school business and we need you in our community. read more

I recently called over there looking for one item in particular which they did not carry. The lady I spoke to on the phone actually gave me the names of a few other local places I could try that might carry it. I was shocked.
