Within the last year or so, the culture at this particular Home Depot is one of rudeness and arrogance. I've been there about 3-5 times and anytime that I have asked for help from a "floor" staffer. I am confronted with an attitude. Every time!!!. Like they are too busy. They are short in their verbiage, almost rude. I decided to call and find information on a multi-thousand $$$ window installation I had done a few years back. I was transferred then disconnected. Transferred again and endless ringing. When the phone was finally answered I couldn't hear the person as there were voices in the background. When I mentioned this the employee was curt and told me "well, I am on the floor. What do you want me to do?" I realized they couldn't help me so I asked to be transferred (once again) to the "Windows Desk". If you need replacement closet doors, do yourself a favor and shop elsewhere. Bought top of the line anodized aluminum doors in satin gold finish and they delivered then with cheap, mismatched white steel track and channel that lacked a felt liner to keep it from rattling when opening or closing and was so flimsy it warped during installation. Installer said they would make it right, but they wanted to charge me an EXTRA $260 for the right materials on top of the nearly $900 I'd already paid AND another $300 to have them reinstalled for THEIR mistake. They have no idea of what they're supposed to do and assigned a customer service rep who ghosted me. INCREDIBLE. Avoid at all cost. read more

This Home Depot is on the same block as Target and T.J Max. I came here last Sunday & I also came here to Look at the garden department. There so many choices of soils, plants, edibles plants, practically anything you need for the garden is here . The garden & inside area is super highly organized & very attention to detail! The pricing is great, you can always save here too! The service was wonderful! Aedan was the cashier & he help me out . He asked me if I found everything I was looking for. I said yes & more! I did have some questions regarding some plants I bought & he answered them all. He is very knowledgeable, sweet, kind , caring & helpful. He even asked me if I would like a paper to put down on my trunk so the soil and dirt wouldn't get my suv dirty, I didn't even ask him! He was so very thoughtful & I really appreciated it! What an absolute nightmare of an experience at that Home Depot hellhole. In the good old days, I could breeze through self-checkout and pay with my trusty PayPal account, no hassle. But on my last visit, it was a complete and utter disaster from start to finish. First off, the lawnmower I needed was marked as "limited supply" online, so I had to waste my time driving down to the store. And when I got there, the self-checkout was a complete and total trainwreck. No PayPal option at all - apparently that's only for the privileged few who shop online now. What a load of crap. And the cherry on top? The surly employee practically accosted me at the self checkout. It's self checkout right? Could have fooled me. Rather than scan items I got to be judged by her and listen to her complaining about how frustrated she is and how she's been begging them for ages to bring back PayPal. Way to make the customer feel welcome, genius. Then on top of that, she tried to strong-arm me into opening a Home Depot credit card. Unbelievable. I paid for my stuff and got the hell out of there as fast as I could. What an absolutely abysmal experience. Home Depot has really gone downhill - it's like they're actively trying to drive away their customers at this point. My husband and I bought a new Whirlpool refrigerator with the extra service contract. It broke in under a month!! Whirlpool's repairman has been here twice, and Home Depot won't fix it until Whirlpool tries. The employee says he can't do it and needs his manager 200 miles away!! Had a great experience here and now know that great people do work here. I'm working on a breakout panel for my back yard and often go to the electrical area to see if the parts I need are there. They might be but I'm not an electrician and the experience is more like going to the refrigerator over and over only to hope something wonderful has arrived, only to see us the same as 5 minutes ago To my Astonishment I was as approached by Tina, who did not look like a roughneck whatsoever and she asked, can I help you? THE ABSOLUTE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE ON THE PHONE, that you could ever imagine. The only way to do business with this branch, is to go there in person. They have made it clear in their actions, that they don't want phone calls and they don't want customers calling them. We (three of us in the office here), called them exactly five(5) times to ask a hardware question. Phone rings off the hook, then someone answers, says she's transferring to hardware dept. Hardware picks up the phone after about 15 rings (you can hear the background noise), and they hang up. Yes, they pick up the phone and immediately hang it up. We called back again and the person answering said they were transferring us to someone named "Jasmine". Well Jasmine never picked up and the phone rang endlessly. We called and asked for a manager; we were put on hold; manager never picked up; call was disconnected after so-many-minutes of us being on hold. The absolute worst customer service. Complete rip off. Asked for a quote to install a generator at my house for $5900! Quoted for generator at $1700, Loews has it for 1000. It was just a portable! Quoted $4200 for labor! All you have to do is use a cord and plug the generator into your current electrical panel. This is the ultimate scam! With all the recent fires, Right Time Home Services is taking advantage of people, saying the fire is coming and using pressure tactics. I can get a new electrical panel in my house for 4000! The cord to attach the portable is $85.00. How do you justify $4200 for labor? Seriously home depot. You are a complete scam! read more

Bought a GE washing machine here and it died after 3 days and 5 wash loads. When I called to ask for help I received nothing. Their policy is only 48 hours for any help. Their manager was horrible and rude. When the GE repair man came out it was the main board and pump. The two primary items needed to run any washing machine. All parts were back ordered and will take 2-3 weeks to get in then another week to repair. Home Depot was and is no help at all. With a senior, handicapped, spouse a laundry mat is hard to deal with. I will never buy a large item from Home Depot. Especially Thousand Oaks. We also purchased the 5 year warranty but they actually have to have a part in stock to repair. Today I was extremely grateful to the staff. I had troubles finding several stuff that I need and as i was walking around the store looking confused, a staff member asked if he can help me, and throughout the time that I was there, I had 7 magnificent staff members that helped me. After paying, I was struggling opening the plastic bags to put my new plants in the bags while my son already walked towards the door, I managed to separate some bags and here an older man came and asked if he can ask me a question. I smile and said yes, then he said, why do you need the bag for? Do you really need it? I mean, I saw some people grab a lot of it and I just don't get it what's the need of the bags? It's such a bad quality anyway... puzzled and confused, I said I need the bags for each plants that I bought, ( 3 plants ) and he cut me off by saying, I see, blank blank blank blah blah blah.. it's such a bad quality anyway. I dumbfounded stood there and split second I thought WTH!! I spent some $100+ and some pvc , I can just return the whole darn things. But NO! Just because of this man, I'm not going to make my whole awesome day being ruined. All the other staff were so kind and lovely helping me, this dude will not get to lower the stars for the store and other great staff members ( at the parking lot, I loaded and pack my stuff, I had 5 Home Depot plastic bags. 5 friggin bags to be annoyed and bombarded with rudeness by this man ) Every time I was in the Home Depot, I avoided him because once he helped me and had no clue about what he was doing. read more

I only shopped in the nursery. From what I could tell, there was a large variety of plants and flowers. All seemed to be well kept and free of disease and critters. It was well organized and clean. The have self checkout counters which is a really nice option. The complex shares a parking lot with Target so there is so much parking available. read more

The Home Depot... where even my 4 stars I'm giving them matches their bright orange themed monstrosity of a store. To be honest, I never really appreciated The Home Depot like I do now. But when you own a home, that all changes. Usually when my wife asks me what I want for Christmas or my birthday, I scratch my head and say I dunno...pick me up some boxers at Costco, but not this year! Daddy wants some power tools and The Home Depot has me covered. The store is divided into categories/departments both of the home and type of project you are looking to tackle. From bathrooms, kitchens and your outdoor areas to lighting, plumbing and carpentry, they have what you need. Power tools, nuts, bolts, paint, plants, bbq equipment and even large appliances, they seem to have everything you need fix, replace or upgrade your home. It's a large store so be patient when looking for an associate to assist when in need. I will say, that they seem to be knowledgeable within their respective departments and are always friendly when asking questions. We have purchased our Christmas tree from here the last 3-4 years and it's become a tradition that we look forward to every holiday season. I asked the first customer service rep I met there for the location of the wood planks. she pointed to Mike Rick. This gentleman is professional, patient, friendly and thorough. He patiently helped me to find the matching wood, measured and cut them, informed me of how paint would settle on it, then walked with me through the warehouse to locate the rest of the items on my list. This is the place! I never thought I'd write a review of a big box store praising their customer service, buy here I am (life is full of surprises). Having gone to pick up outdoor heaters, my eye caught glimpse or a sleek Rubbermaid garbage can (kitchen, 13 gallon, step action, bag holder -- basically, fully loaded and I figured I can do aftermarket chrome lifters and maybe swap out the pedal for titanium for weight). The thing is this garbage can was s-w-e-e-t and I wanted it. Problem was the lid was missing, and the two other cans were also missing lids. My expression must have really given away my disappointment, because an employee walked over and asked if I needed any help. At first I declined. See, as he was walking over he had taken off his orange HD shop apron and was folding it up. This guy was iff the clock and I'm not the sort of guy to ask someone to clock in for something like this. But he asked, "are you sure?" Now, I'm not sure if I mentioned it, but this can was s-w-e-e-t, so I sheepishly told him my issue, but said it was no big deal. Next thing I know, the radio comes out, he does some check to see if there are other cans in stock and a moment later the call comes back that there are a bunch of them on a pallet in the top shelf... You ever notice how tall these shelves are? Let's just say you need oxygen just to climb to the shelf below the top, and once you make it to the top you need to duck each time the International Space Station passes overhead. (This might be an exaggeration.) Suddenly, the store snaps into action -- aisles are closed and from the deep recesses of the store comes a man waving two small flags. A parade, I thought? Then, I noticed just behind him was one of the coolest stand up forklifts I've ever seen. To cut to the chase, the forklift driver expertly piloted his vehicle to the proper spot and in a truly artful manner finessed the packed to the gills tall pallet off the top shelf with the virtuosity of a veteran fireman coaxing a cat off the roof of a three story home. Pallet safely on the floor, this unknown forklift maestro disappeared back to his spot silently and swiftly as if he were a mirage, no doubt waiting to be called upon again. The pallet was unpacked and the next thing I knew I was handed a complete/lidded garbage can as if it were just a normal day at the office. "Need anything else?" I stuttered through my shock, "um, cable ties?" "Zip ties are on aisle 5." Thank you, Brian and crew for making what could've been a routine and uneventful visit to your store the absolute highlight of my week. What a great way to end August! read more

I had a problem with figuring out what LG airconditioning to purchase. I purchased one with which shut my power off in my room. LG was a real headache to get help in advising. After spending over 2 hours with LG getting shoved around and no knowledge I gave up. I then decided to call Home Depot Thousand Oaks, and spoke to Isaac Hernandez in plumbing. He was extremely helpful in figuring out my problem, and advised my why my current portable air shut the power off. So I purchase a portable Air from Home depot with his help. Thank you Isaac. I have been a Pro member, (renovating houses for over 40 years) and a loyal Home Depot customer (this fact as you will see matters very little). Doing cement work on a project, I purchased two new plastic shrink-wrapped containers of "Dobies" (84 per container priced @ 0.66 cents each) equalling 168 dobies. They come connected together with wire on top in a row of approximately 12 and break apart as you need them. After opening one of the packages, I realized that they were too large and took them ALL to be returned. The only "return" customer in line around 11am, I presented my receipt and told the return clerk Jennifer that they wouldn't work out for my job site. All was cordial until Jennifer stated that she needed to count them. I told her okay, but that they were all there. She preceded to count each "block" of 12 as "one" so I walked over to inform her that they were removable individual pieces. William, the returns supervisor then approached to show Jennifer how to count them properly. William became frustrated at one point and told her that he would show her if she was "willing to listen to him." WITHOUT counting them individually, William and Jennifer determined that one of the packages was short from the 168 count on the receipt and Jennifer stated that she couldn't give me a full refund. I repeated that they were all there and that she needed to count them individually or call a front end manager. She said "fine," and called for a manager. Not liking to be called a liar, I walked to the cart and began counting them myself. I stated in front of William and Jennifer that it shouldn't be so difficult to make a return with a receipt and that I should have probably gone to Lowes (literally across the street). Jennifer retorted, "good, go to Lowes next time, I don't care." I stood up from counting and asked her what her name was but she refused to answer. William then walked over and said, "a manager has been called now go stand over there (pointing toward the corner of the queue line), a manager is on the way." I informed him that I was a Pro member who spent tens of thousands of dollars per year to which he laughed in my face, stating "I don't care what you spend here but you go stand in that corner until the manager gets here." I reiterated that it wasn't his job to tell me where to stand, but he cut me off saying, "I certainly will tell you where to stand in MY store." Incredulous at this middle school banter and having to train the HD employees on how to count their own products, I went to the front aisle to wait for a Manager. Enter Assistant Manager Cameron. Though not very empathetic and businesslike, he took control of the situation....and discovered that I was actually correct and was returning 168 dobies - the same amount that I had purchased. We live in an age where people care very little about customer service. Jennifer wanted me to accept that I was only going to receive a partial credit because she either didn't know or care how to count the product and William backed her up. NO ONE will care at Home Depot but I am opening a Pro account at Lowes because the customer service is far superior. I will miss doing business at Home Depot as I am on a first name basis with some of their staff. There are exemplary employees at Home Depot such as Angel in electric, John in Plumbing, Juan in building materials and others. I am usually a very easy going person until someone shows a lack of care. I have also noticed that Lowes pricing is cheaper on some items. While Assistant Mgr. Cameron was taking care of the return I told him some some of my frustrations at the comments made by Jennifer and William. I repeated that I had been a loyal Pro customer for decades to which he also replied, "I don't care how much you spend." (Are they taught to say that by corporate?) I'm not looking for anyone to grovel because of the money I spend, just care enough to refund my money when I return something two days later with a receipt, then don't mock me because I do spend a significant amount of money there. The correct answer to a frustrated customer who spends tens of thousands of dollars in a store is: "We greatly appreciate your business but we strive to give each customer the same care regardless of the money they spend." I appreciate Home Depot in general, but this Thousand Oaks store absolutely does not answer the phone at all, so it means I have to get in my car and drive there if I have a question & can't find the answer online. Also, I had a problem with a Special Order for some doors and the Store Manager (Jessica?) would not even come out to discuss it with me in person (even tho it was their employee error when it was spec'd). Instead she sent out a lower level employee to tell me she wouldnt resolve it. All of these things are easily fixed, but attitude says everything and I do not get a "can do" attitude from this HD store management. Because of this, I now head to the Camarillo location whenever I can. They DO answer their phones and their attitudes in general seem more positive. read more

I ordered a washing machine online to be installed with old washer hauled away. They gave me an install date and said that they would call and email the day before to give me a 4 hour window for the delivery and install. I received nothing the day before and on the day the delivery was supposed to happen I contacted them about when it was coming. After a run around for about an hour they said they had no clue what went wrong but all they could do was cancel and reorder for me. I even scored a very healthy Monstera Adansonii (Swiss Cheese Plant) for $20 (a single cutting on Etsy goes for $30 *smh*), and a giant Monstera Deliciosa for $25 (which goes for $100+ online!). I also wanted to give a 5-star shoutout to Miguel, the Garden Center employee. Although very busy, he welcomed every question I had during my 2-hour visit (Oh, Virgo perfectionism is a curse), and he was kind and used "we" statements when referring to the care my new/current plants would be receiving moving forward. Never happened. Then after waiting at home all day, I get a call that they were on site. They weren't. Turns out they went to a different house. Different address. Different street. Then, they say I have to reschedule. I call and am put on hold so they can contact their "fulfillment" service. Then after being disconnected twice, I am told they cannot reschedule until tomorrow. I have gotten most of my indoor plants here as well, and they are usually the perfect size and price point I'm looking for, which are now thriving!
