I don't know anything about their plumbing and HVAC. I used their electrical service in May of…read more2027. The goal was simple: remove the overhead line feeding the house 100A 220VAC residential service with a buried line (via conduit) to the pole including an upgrade to 200A service, connecting to an existing breaker panel. Entrance to the house is a straight shot through the back yard to the pole at the property line with my neighbor, about 110 foot in length. The original estimate was extraordinarily high compared to competitors, but was assured by reviews and the original estimator that Peterman would stand by their work. The "re-estimate" came in at $5000 higher and that should have been a red-flag. The re-estimator basically said the guy who originally estimated it was a dolt and you can't trust salesmen. I learned later, you can't trust Peterman. I'm in the trades, but retired, so I know what's right and what's wrong. The purely electrical part of it is fine, but the execution of the upgrade was an unmitigated disaster. Nothing is square, nothing is plumb, conduits are off plumb and not properly tied to the house. I spent hundreds replacing or repairing damaged ties straps, fencing, pavers, etc. The original estimator assured me they could push the conduit through under the pavers and fencing. That was their first lie. They ended up bringing in a mini backhoe with a 30" (!!!) wide bucket to dig for a 4" pipe. They obliterated my back yard, digging a massive pit, laying the pipe crooked, twisted and stressed in the bottom after weeks and weeks of delays. When they finally filled in the pit weeks later, it had already begun to collapse on both sides, distorting the conduit even further. When the "field manager" FINALLY showed up on the job (he never once showed up DURING the installation even after my repeated calls to Peterman that things were not going well), all the work except the backfill was done. Although I agreed not to publish his name, after all of this, I don't think he deserves any protection: Austin Hale. He PROMISED me that this fall they would send in a grading company to smooth and reseed the lawn. It is so rough and chaotic now that I've been unable to mow it and now it has 3' tall weeds that I'm sure the health department will be issuing me a citation soon. Will Peterman pay for that? Don't hold your breath. I contacted Peterman this morning to find out when this grading would be done and they informed me that it was not contracted and there would be an additional fee to do that. In other words, Austin bald-faced LIED to me. I would never ask these people back to my home ever again because they'd screw up the house and property even more and then claim that "catastrophic damage" to the property wasn't covered under the contract and it would be an additional $250,000 for that repair. Idiots. For electrical, never Peterman. Any suggestions to somebody moral would be welcomed. For plumbing, I recommended Williams Comfort Air ("Mr Plumber"). Maybe not as cheap as the schmoe down the street, but HONEST. For HVAC, Love HVAC (a small local company) is excellent, founded decades ago, will to go the extra mile and HONEST. Note who didn't get an HONEST rating? They come across, assaulting you with their toothy, goofy, doofy grins every morning during the local news, as if they have a "hometown" morality about them. They don't. They are greedy corporate cucks. They do crap work, refuse to communicate with you during installation and will gleefully screw you out of every dime possible.

After the tech worked on it, the pilot light wouldn't come back on at all. He told us it was a valve he had to overnight to us leaving us with no heat for 4 days in below zero temps. After finally receiving the part (which was a $1000 valve), he installed it but the system still didn't work. The tech tried to tell us it was the heating element at $6000 or we can just replace the entire system for $9000. We told him to put the system back together and leave. After a couple of days, we hear a loud banging in my pipes and then my heat turns back on. After researching ourselves, we realized this tech at Johnson couldn't figure out that we had frozen condensation in our pipes which prevented our heat from working. Id also like to mention that bf this tech began working on our system, he had told us that he had just come from another call that he couldn't fix, and had to sell them an entirely new system. I'm believing now that this is their goal. To sell new systems, not fix the problem.D

I found out I had to be home all day and wait for their call as they couldn't give me an appointment window and would only call me shortly before arriving. I was ok with that as I needed this leak handling quickly. I waited all day and around 2pm, they called me and stated they couldn't make it out at all today. Not even after normal business hours. They said they wanted to reschedule for Friday. Well I already had plans on Friday and couldn't sit at home waiting around around all day so I explained that wouldn't work and condo they at least come out tomorrow and they said they schedule was already full. So I felt like my business wasn't really important to them and they didn't care about me as a customer. I went with another company and they came out timely and were very professional. It was an even bigger slap in the face with I got an ad in the mail the next week stating they have 24/7 on call availability and they still left me hanging. All that being said, I can cant to the quality of work they may do when they actually keep appointments.

Other plumbers gave me an estimate over the phone for free. Tried to sell all kinds of warranty options ,I needed a plumber, not a salesman. The plumber assigned to the job brought a helper to evaluate and quote the work. He also spent some time at the plumbing supply house determining if parts were available to fix the failed fixture. They determined that we would need a new fixture. My wife worked with the supply house and selected and purchased the fixture. Once we had the fixture in hand we received the quote for this installation.  I was dismayed to see the quote for the installation work was $3877.00! When I asked for more detail I was given a verbal summary of the additional materials for the work that seemed to amounted to less than $50. We notified Lohmeyer that we intended to reject their proposal. I contacted another reputable local plumber and received a quote for about  $400 for installation. I accepted the quote, and the work was completed quickly and to my satisfaction. The plumber and his helper spent less than 2 hours to complete the work. We then received a bill for $595 for the service rendered. Note that they charge much more to quote this job than a reputable plumber charged us to complete the job. If you work with Lohmeyer I recommend getting a firm quote before they start the work. Then again, I would not recommend trying to do this as I think it will be a waste of your time. However, when I spoke with them to start the service, I had to give a detailed list of the issues. I asked what the cost of the initial visit would be, as I'd already had an offer of $150/initial visit. I was assured it was a FREE inspection and only if they needed to do work to figure out the problem would there be a charge and only after we agreed to the charge. Ok. Day of service, a young man comes late. He says he has all of my notes, but hasn't looked at them, so he wants me to tell him the problem. I do. I take him and show him the septic tank, which was part of the complaint. He takes a picture, tells me he has to call his boss because he doesn't know anything about septic systems. ??? He sits in his truck for awhile, talking to his boss. Comes in, says we need the septic pumped out before they can do anything. And they have a truck to do that but he doesn't think it's available. That'll be $98. That's it! So, I emailed the company, explained the situation. They were sorry, but explained that the initial cost will be returned if we don't use their service or applied to the work they do. Didn't I ask this very thing in advance?! So I obviously found a different company to do the work. I did get a refund check - but what a hassle. Not an upfront company.
