If anyone is thinking about using the locksmith on 109 in farmingdale called B&B don't !! This is my experience with the owner who is a liar and a crook. Went to B&B locksmith on 109 to get a car key made for my mother (she's 71). Originally told 265, then told 285 because it was different type of key. Set appt 5 days in advance to drop car off at 10 am when he opens and said he would calibrate key. Show up 10 am and place is closed. I call at 10:15 and am told I'm on road and running late. 10:30 no car pulls into parking lot yet all of a sudden he opens the front door (he was sleeping upstairs and didn't care I was waiting). I drop off the car and was told car would be done before 12 as I mentioned I have appt at that 1 I must get to so car has to be done 12 or before. Same thing I said when I originally scheduled the appt. 5 days prior. I call 11:30 to see status of car and am told I'm busy and don't have time for this and then am hung up on. Needless to say car is not done and couldn't be picked up at agreed upon time. Go to pick up car at 4:30 and then the man says the price for key is $336 when originally told much less. I say this is not what we were told last week and am told well this is what it is because I had to get a part. Lied to numerous times from start to finish and price jacked up extra $51. My 71 year old mother was completely taken advantage of and it disgusts me. If anyone goes here be careful to what you are told and if priced anything get it in writing. I had a worn out ignition key for my 2007 GMC truck and lost the other key within the first year of ownership. It would sometimes take up to 45 seconds of wiggling the key to start the truck and after looking at the condition of the worn out key, making a copy of that would not help. I went to B&B lock technicians to get a key made for another car on a weekday evening right before closing. After meeting Rory and talking to him about automotive locks I had him look at my worn out GMC key. He tried to start my truck with that key and then told me he could make a new key without coping the original worn out key and without knowing the key code from the dealer. I was so amazed that he got it perfect on the first try because I had never seen or herd about that being done before. So the next time you need anything to do with keys and locks, Please do yourself a favor and check these guys out. Well, I called almost every locksmith in the book and they all seem to be mobile only and none of them have a store. If they're in a mobile unit, they don't have the selection of keys that would be required because they are not new. I found a place in Farmingdale with a store, and after my visit believe it is the best one on Long Island.. While I was there waiting in line, I watch the technician pick a lock on a safe and customize a key for an old Italian lock out of the selection of thousands of keys that they had in stock. And OMG listening to the man tell people about all the technical issues to their keys that clearly only came with years of experience I was taken back. This has become truly a trade craft and there are few left. If you want to call a mobile hack call right ahead, but if you want a real locksmith with knowledge inventory, and the ability to think out of the box and make all keys work then try out this place. I was locked out of my house recently and had my car and house keys on the same keychain. It had begun to snow that day, and couldn't even get into my car to wait. I had my cell phone and did a quick search and found B&B. Rory answered the phone, he explained he was helping someone else, and as soon as that transaction was done, he'd come by, a distance of not more than 2 miles from my home. He arrived in 20 minutes after the call, and within 20 min, had my door open. He is knowledgeable and courteous, and through our discussion while he was working, I learned he has been doing this 20 years. I would recommend Rory, even though the company's name is B&B, to anyone in the same situation I was in. What relief!!! and all due to his quick response. Connected with B&B months ago for varied lock installs on our new home. Outstanding acumen, on-time appts, and expertise and precision with all, including our complicated, 2.25" mahogany door full lockset installation and bore out. Further complicating that effort was our having already completely finish-stained and sealed the door - prior to the boring and positioning of the set. The lock looks like it was installed at time of mfr, no damage or signs of distress to door or jamb. I have had several interactions with the folks at B&B and have always found them extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I recently needed several doorknobs re-keyed on new screen doors that a contractor was installing. I brought the doorknobs to their shop and the work was done in a timely manner so as not to hold up the installation of the doors. There was even a problem with one of the doorknobs (after installation) and someone was sent out immediately to fix the issue. Couldn't ask for better service. Highly recommend. read more

I lost a key to my 2004 Jaguar which uses a Tibbe Key. These keys are not common, extremely difficult to cut and many locksmiths won't even attempt to make a copy. Rory was able to decode the key and returned my remaining key, which allowed me to use the car in the meantime. When the key was ready, I stopped back with the car and Rory made sure the new key worked in every single lock on the car. B&B has to be one of the best on the island. I previously went to a half dozen locksmiths who turned down making a replacement key for a piece of furniture to which my wife had a sentimental attachment. It turns out that standard key cutting machines can't make my key, but B&B had the right machine and the knowledge to use it. The new key worked perfectly and my wife is happy! I enjoyed working with the guys at B&B very knowledgeable. Had a customer come into my shop and had replaced an ecu in his car but couldnt get the keys to work. A quick call to these guys and they came to shop. Visited the guys at B&B's to get keys cut for my 2007 Kia Spectra. The guys there were extremely informative and helpful. They were able to cut the key blank that I purchased on my own and cut it perfectly and promptly. While I was there, I also had them cut an extra key for my vehicle in which they carried their own blanks for my vehicle.
