Do your homework when hiring an estate liquidation company! Ask for references. Interview 3 companies, ask lots of questions. My neighbor hired this company and was left with a big mess to clean up after the sale and not much profit. They came in all cherry picked the good stuff. I would not use this company. read more

Went into a small house packed with items that were 30%off on the third day of a sale. (Should have been suspicious there was so much stuff left on the third day. Been to plenty where the place was nearly empty by noon the first day.) Some of the prices were ridiculous! $35 for a Hallmark ornament that the original price on the box was $19.99. And I wanted something I didn't see was marked TRIPLE what the retail price was. I feel like I was ripped off even though they were willing to deal elsewhere. Guess they figured they were going to get the full price anyway. Shame on me for getting fooled once. I won't be making that mistake again! read more

This guy is a joke. The stuff is overpriced. He takes forever and hauls in tons of other stuff from previous sales. The owner of the houses stuff isn't prioritized and some of the owner's stuff was marked as belonging to someone else. Our neighborhood has narrow streets and the cars that belong their can barely get through. Anything left he takes and you don't get anything for it. He seems to be a hoarder. Unprofessional, rude, and dishonest. I tried to work with Brian from B and C Estate Sales to sell an automobile and to do an estate sale, and it was a disaster from the beginning. Brian is unprofessional and flat out dishonest in his business practices. Brian would not agree to a contract clause I asked for saying he and his employees would not "self-deal" or sell items to themselves or take things from the property without my written consent. Brian priced things in a way that no one would purchase them. I consulted a professional showing them photos of the items and their prices, and was told it was likely a scam they had seen before. When the items do not sell the dealer would purchase the leftover items cheap to resell elsewhere. Brian was not timely in returning my texts, calls, or emails. Even one star is more than Brian and B and C Estate sales deserves. read more

If I could give this company 0 stars, I gladly would. I have been to SEVERAL estate sales in the area and this company is by far (and I'll word this nicely) the WORST. Not just because their prices aren't "cheap" or FAIR, but they lack honesty and integrity in this business and I feel bad for anyone that has hired them. FYI: They bring items from previous estate sales that do not sell, at FULL PRICE. They try to milk the most money out of their customers and follow you around like a hawk, making it awkward and uncomfortable to even look at anything. I was interested in a small box of postcards at their sale today, and Brian seemed shocked that I wanted to purchase the entire box. (Which, at an estate sale, is not rare to come by?) He offered me (try not to laugh) $100 for POSTCARDS and mainly envelopes. Are you serious? I've spent $100 total at several different sales, none have which have tried to charge that much for something so small with such little value to them. THE WORST estate sale I've ever been to, and I go to a lot, and I feel bad for anyone that hires them to liquidate their estate. ABSURD prices-- $10 for stuffed animals, over $300 for a used Nintendo Wii, a collectible doll that last sold for $55 online with a price tag of $440, a used floor cleaner priced higher that what you can buy NEW online or in store, and even a couple dollar-store items priced at $12! Give me a break. Went on a Sunday, day four at the end of the four-day sale, when most estate sales would be offering 50% off or at least be welcoming and offering to make deals. No friendly greeting, no offer to deal, just a house still totally stuffed with way overpriced merchandise. I asked who came up with the prices and how they landed on some of the numbers, and they could only say it's because "people will pay it." No, they clearly won't, otherwise they wouldn't still have so much stuff to get rid of on day four of an estate sale. Will never go to another B&C estate sale, ever. read more

This Estate Sale company is of the worst I have ever dealt with. They do the packing in of previous sale items that do not sale into a new location. While I know this is common practice they pack the same over priced crap from house to house to house endlessly it seems. The homes are so packed with other things you can barley walk n them. Some of it being at times literal trash. Like filthy wooden spoons. stained kitchen towels. blankets that smell like piss. When you see an overpriced item and show them its new purchase value they do not waiver. There attitudes are nasty. There prices do not come down. They bicker among each other, they shout to each other across the room.They are condescending and seem to entertain each other being rude to patrons. There was one very pleasant woman. As for the rest they are arrogant, rude, obnoxious and unapologetic. I would never hire this company and I will be careful not to waist my time at any more of their sales. There are about 50 employees that follow people as if you are going to steal things. Its a HARD pass on this mess. read more

This guy holds an estate sale up in Auburn, Ca yearly which draws people from all over the states. He places sale signs on stop signs which is against the city of Auburn's rules. He doesn't ensure that the residents on the same street have easy access to and from their homes...unless told to do so by police. He also didn't take the time to have a business license to sell in Auburn. He is RUDE and unprofessional to law enforcement. His prices are also too high. read more

Brian, apparently the owner, was the most obnoxious person I have met in a long time. They opened a half hour late leaving us standing in a line outside in the rain. Then, he only let 10-15 people in at a time, leaving the rest of us in the rain for another 15 minutes. By the time I got inside, most of the people in line had already walked off. (keep in mind, I had arrived 30 minutes before it opened and had waited an additional 45 minutes to enter) He literally shouted at everyone as they entered and treated us as invaders rather than customers. He was unbelievably rude from start to finish. Most of the items were obviously carried over items from other sales and were all very overpriced. It was the worst assortment of junk at ridiculous prices. There were a few decent collectible/antique items but again, they were insanely overpriced. I asked him for the name of his company and told him that I would NEVER attend another estate sale put on by his company. I explained that his rude behavior was my primary reason. Many people confronted him angrily about his obnoxious behavior, many of whom walked immediately out the front door. He offered me 20% off any item to make up for his outrageous behavior, but I wouldn't have bought anything from him at 75% off at that point. I have stopped by a few of these sales, they are a little over priced. I have noticed they bring other stuff from other estate sales in that they have had. They bring in display cases and stage the sale. I do understand they have to make money, but the point of an estate sale is to liquidate that persons estate, Not drag it around to other peoples estate sales. B& C estate sales have priced dealers out of the market. Very high prices. They also bring items that didn't sell from one estate sale to the next one. However, the worst thing was at a recent sale B&C ignored that some buyers had gotten there 3 hours early and told everyone that they would not honor a list of who arrived first. This led to a pushing and shoving match and hot words since only the first 15 people would be let in. I will NEVER go a B&C sale again. Just not worth the aggravation. read more

I missed all the drama at the opening of the sale in Elk Grove today (2/28/14)...but weather was horrible so I will give them the benefit of the doubt for opening late. I specialize in a few items, musical instruments, art, books being among some of the things I am very knowledgeable about. B&C had their stuff priced not only above what one would expect at an "estate sale", but some of their stuff was above even retail prices. As an example, they had two 2014 Gibson Les Paul guitars...one was a standard studio model and the other was a Guitar Center limited model wasn't available to all their stores, isn't listed on the Gibson or Guitar Center sites. It is a Gibson Les Paul Special AAA Flame Top Hollowbody...again only available at select Guitar Center locations. Per the Guitar Center they sale this model for $1199, it includes a case, a warranty and a guarantee that it works. The lady behind the counter quoted $1300 as the price...no case...no warranty..no guarantee, and it is used. Her only defense for the price was "but it is a 2014". The 2014 Les Paul Studio sales retail at the Guitar Center for $999, and again it includes a case, a warranty and a guarantee that it works. The lady behind the counter quoted $1200....again no case...no warranty..no guarantee, and it is used. They had older books that would retail or auction in the $10-$20 range priced at $50. They had 5 pencil drawings of Laurel & Hardy, Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin, etc. priced at $350 for the 5...they only go for $10-$30 each at auction (which would be $150 at most) for the set of 5. These are mass produced pieces of art from the 1960's, not original one-offs...I have seen them numerous times listed as pencil drawing, they are prints "from" a pencil drawing...BIG difference. Bottom line, I watched many people walk out empty handed...I would have given them a fair price for the two Gibson guitars. This is a retail shop setting up in peoples' homes under the guise of an "estate sale". Which is my main reason for only 2 stars. I might run back by Sunday afternoon and if the prices have dropped any...or I might take a nap. read more

This is a delicate issue so I'll try to be fair. As an antique dealer I've seen a lot of what happens at estate sales. Some funny, some sad, and the disgusting. Then there are some who offer this service that make you wonder. Is it ethical prior to an estate sale to haul off goods into your car? One can say that through what he charges he has" paid" for those items. These are the "perks" or benefits of the job. As a relative/friend of a client recently I find this practice deplorable. Is it illegal? No. But it does make one wonder. You see at these estate sales what the seller doesn't know is who will be there. Then when you see the very gift that was given to the deceased hauled off into the trunk of the car a lot of questions come to mind. I hope he doesn't deny this. To be fair he is not the only person to be doing this. Also, he often brings his own items from OTHER/prior estate sales to the new one? Illegal? No. Just disturbing. We used BC estates for the 4th time since they did such a good job in liquidating my parent's two homes, we decided to use them in our own downsize move. They sold everything from live chickens to an ATV to a late model Mercedes. We received top dollar for everything they sold for us and they took care of everything. Not only is Brian, the owner a real pro but his staff is simply top rate and there is not anything they will not do. We found that we still have more things to sell so his staff is coming down to our house to retrieve another load for a sale at another location. Brian is very creative in providing solutions that work for the customer which is very unusual. The idea of combining multiple sales together is a great idea and serves everyone's needs and gets exposure for your items without having the estate sale at your house. Brian and his staff are all about customer satisfaction. My husband and I have high regard for Brian and his staff! I would also like to respond to the very negative review by a dealer and would like to remind everyone that Brian's loyalty should never be to provide cheap prices to dealers. His obligation should be to get the best price possible to the customer and not selling cheaply to the first dealer that comes to the sale. Selling to dealers at the end of sales is appropriate and this is where Brian's expertise comes in handy, but I take issue with a dealer complaining about Brian not caving to his demands.I witnessed Brian in action at several sales and he holds his ground on price and is flexible where appropriate and that is what the customer is paying him to do. Went to an Estate sale run by B & C (fist time I've seen them in the Bay Area.) Everything was neat and clean - and so well organized - very easy shopping experience. They were MORE then helpful and friendly. I've seen some reviews saying they were overpriced - but in honesty - when I asked them for a lower price - they were more then willing to negotiate (perhaps others didn't ask?) Never be afraid to ask. (Brian even said - negotiating is part of the whole Estate Sale experience :) Both Brain and Vanessa were fair and informative on the items they were selling. B &C Estate Sales essentially is a business who used a house in a residential Fair Oaks, Ca neighborhood to sell their left over items from other sales along with a few of the home owners items. They held their sale 4 consecutive days in a row (against Fair Oaks, Ca Code), posted 30 estate sale signs not at sale location (against code) and parked their big commercial trucks on the residents property and on street for 3-4 days at a time (against code). Our neighborhood was in chaos from increased traffic for six days total. They trucked in merchandise the week before the sale and brought in old cars to sell as well. 90 percent of the items were not the property of the owner. We could not walk our dogs. Our children could not play outside. They woke us up at 12:30 one night setting up for the sale. More people need to call 311 and complain about this illegal use of residential property by a business. They repeatedly do this and get away with violating code month after month, year after year. read more

B&C Estate Sales, Inc. recently had a sale in my neighborhood. The sale caused major traffic congestion and inconvenience to the residents. Brian, one of the partners, was very rude, disrespectful and seemed unconcerned about issues he created in the neighborhood. Local police were called and only then did he attempt to regulate and control the traffic. Contact your local city council member and your city's code enforcement to file a formal complaint if this company causes issues in your neighborhood. read more

Went to their last sale off in Carmichael and it was nice but way over priced. A lot of cool things old/new, I could only afford what was int the garage. The workers were very nice except one lady who I asked for help for and she looked away from her phone and said she was on break. It was rude and I had just one question, but I guess her phone was more important. I always go to this company's sales but I never learn that the items are too expensive and are the same items carried on from sale to sale. I have even seen most of the items at their Estate Sale Dump. Why have a store? If it didn't sell the first what makes you think it will sell the next time. It doesn't make sense. I wonder what their next sale is going to be like. read more

I have been doing business with Brian and Ashley of B & C Estate Sales for almost a year. I researched many companies via talking to friends, using the Internet to search the web and even writing to a popular reality TV show that dealt in estate sales. Many of the companies never called me back. Some companies I called either held auctions at their own warehouses and charged a high percentage and a fee to appraise my items and pick them up without any guarantee that they would sell or what they would sell for. I found those companies vague and unreliable. A couple people I did speak to did estate sales as more of a hobby and worked sporadically. At last I found B & C and Brian emailed and then called me back immediately. He was very professional and knowledgeable. He is a certified appraiser and if he doesn't know the value of an item he will take it to another appraiser so you know he is doing you right. Brian and Ashley hold an estate sale almost every weekend of the year and they always promote the sale via newspapers, emails, flyer's and phone calls. They have a large clientele that shop their sales regularly. They handled all of my family's items with great care. They had a written contract with everything clearly defined and we discussed the values and pricing before the sale. We had "so much stuff" due to the passing of both our parents and between the grieving and the memories it is not an easy task to do your self. Brian and Ashley were great with the details and they sold almost everything and what they couldn't sell they donated for us. What a relief.
