Still, I parked, walked in, and was immediately greeted by the unmistakable aroma of meat that had been slow smoking all day long. A very kind older lady welcomed me and explained that the buffet was all-you-can-eat for just $17. That sounded easy enough. I grabbed a plate and began my journey down the line. There were the staples: rice, collard greens, fried okra, hush puppies. Then came the showstoppers. A massive tray of mac & cheese, golden fried chicken, barbecue chicken, and pulled pork that looked like it had been tended with care. Oh, my. Off to the side sat squeeze bottles of sauce and ketchup, flanked by potato salad, cole slaw, and two varieties of pickles that added a crisp counterpoint to the richness of the meats. I ate far more than I intended, but every bite was worth it. The mac & cheese was excellent, very cheesy and full of flavor. Maybe not quite as good as when Mrs. K. blesses me with her recipe, but still, excellent. The barbecue chicken was moist and seasoned just right. The pulled pork was some of the best I have had, with a few larger pieces mixed in that gave it texture and depth. It was so good it really didn't need any sauce at all. If desserts were offered, I didn't see them. A small scoop of banana pudding would have tied the whole experience together in a perfect knot. Even without it, this was a five-star meal in my book. My associate and I were there for about 90 minutes, and it was an easy place to sit, talk, and enjoy a meal without feeling crowded or rushed. Ambience -- 10/10 Now, the food. I had the rib lunch, and before I go any further, I should disclose that I'm a certified BBQ judge with the South Carolina Barbeque Association. That probably makes me a little more particular about ribs than the average customer. These were excellent. The ribs had a delicious flavor and aroma and weren't greasy at all. In fact, they had exactly the sort of appetizing sheen you want to see on a properly prepared rib. If I were judging them critically, I could point to only two things, and neither would keep me from ordering them again. They were a tiny bit softer than my personal preference. As a BBQ judge, my palate has developed toward a rib with a nice, light bite--the meat should release cleanly when bitten but still have some structure. Plenty of people prefer a softer, more fall-apart rib, so this is very much a matter of preference rather than a criticism. I also would have preferred them served a little hotter. Again, I wouldn't mark the ribs down for that. There are plenty of factors that can affect serving temperature, and it isn't something we judge when evaluating the quality of a rib. I don't specifically remember which sides I ordered, which probably says something about how much attention I was paying to the ribs, but I do remember that the sides were excellent as well. Food -- 10/10 Perhaps the strongest endorsement I can give is this: I rarely order ribs in restaurants. Too few places really know how to do them well, and I'll readily admit that judging BBQ has spoiled me. I'd come back here specifically to order these ribs again. That's a 5-star meal.

Maybe 20 minutes. Food is ordered at the counter and your tray of loveliness is prepared right before your eyes. You order meats first then move down to another person who does the sides. Very efficient process. See my pic, I got a variety of meats and they were all excellent - chopped brisket, pulled pork, spare ribs and a Green Chile cheddar sausage. One knock - I wish they had more vegetable sides. I got the collards. They were very good. Highly recommend!!
