They were flexible with us as we had to reschedule due to weather, and had several complicated moves that were handled very well. As with any move, we took care ourselves to wrap things, communicate our needs and expectations, but I would do that with any mover. Ask questions, clarify and explain what you want. All furniture was wrapped carefully with moving blankets and secured and all breakables were treated with care. I've never seen a team of people work so hard!

We were repeatedly promised a fast delivery, with an estimated arrival the day after pickup. The movers arrived in a rented Enterprise truck with only one professional mover doing most of the labor, assisted by what appeared to be his underage son, so my husband had to help load much of our furniture himself. We are paying close to $6K for this move. Despite this disorganized setup, both companies continued assuring us that delivery would still happen the next day. After the pickup day, howver, communication became inconsistent and misleading. We later learned our belongings were not even placed on a delivery schedule, and after days without updates, we were given a delivery date 15 days later that was THEN canceled due to an alleged truck mechanical issue. (Mind you, again, they had simply rented a truck and could easily get another.) The companies have repeatedly failed to provide clear information about where our belongings are located, when they will actually be delivered, or why another truck cannot be used to complete the move. We have now been without our belongings for over two weeks and were forced to stay with family in another state because we had none of the essentials needed to live in our new home. This situation has been especially distressing because I am pregnant and have severe asthma, and some of my emergency medications were packed in the shipment after we were assured of a rapid delivery. Overall, the experience has been incredibly stressful, unprofessional, and misleading, and I would strongly caution others before using either Interstate Moving Company or Zip Moving and Storage. We have had to file a federal report against both companies.

Day of, there is some work to do. I was confirmed that morning of the move to be on location by a specific time. Well as I waited I was informed of logistical issues with the driver. Honestly, when dealing with people that are taking off work to be present during delivery, and the service they are paying for is late, it's such a frustrating situation. Nonetheless, this shifted everything about 40 minutes behind schedule and they still were able to complete the job. The guys were apologetic and I got my furniture. Would i come back for service? Yes. But likely leave more wiggle room for the time.

I worked with a different moving company 2 years ago that left me scarred for life with how rude and unprofessional they were. I ended up having to finish the job myself (moving my giant couch up four flights of stairs), so when I knew I was moving again, I did my due diligence and sought out a few quotes. Another company quoted me almost $800 and required a 3 hour minimum for the job!! $800 seemed steep and I knew the job wouldn't take that long... Along came Bookstore Movers who quoted me a reasonable $470 minimum for two hours of work and a maximum of $680 for 3.5 hours of work (price breakdown: $140 per hour with 2 hour min. plus a $190 truck fee). I received a quote within a few hours of requesting it. There was no deposit required and the date was booked. I received detailed emails leading up to the move about FAQs, tips for a seamless move, and the names of my crew including contact info for the crew lead. Abdul (crew lead), Niiwayo "Y.O", and Milly were SO fast and friendly. They wrapped every single item with care in drop cloths and got to moving immediately. Despite the 90 degree heat and a total of five flights of stairs, the job was finished in 2 hours. I was SO impressed. I was so traumatized by my last move that I literally had to walk away while they moved the couch in but before I knew it, I got a text from my boyfriend telling me they had fit it through the door and our living room was all set up. I was so relieved and happy to work with them. If and when we move again, (hopefully not anytime soon, lol), I will 100% be contacting Bookstore Movers... and you should too!

However, I'm glad I saved JFP Express in my drafts because their service was excellent. I contacted three different companies through Yelp, but ultimately chose JFP Express because they were the only ones who provided an all-inclusive price with no hidden fees--unlike the other companies. I find it frustrating when businesses try to extract as much as they can from customers through various pretexts and dishonest practices. JFP Express, however, was honest and transparent from the start. Jason was very courteous and communicative, arranging everything seamlessly. When the team arrived, they were respectful, personable, and professional. The piano, along with everything else, was handled with the utmost care and attention. Even my husband, who is usually very reserved, was impressed with the team, especially Darius, who was exceptionally pleasant. We will definitely be using their services again. He never did, then when I finally got ahold of someone, a woman answered and told me he died. I'm not saying that was a lie, but as such I have her 2 months to get back to business and try to figure out what she was going to do about my table. That never happened and when I finally did get ahold of someone after the 2 months, they answered, acted like they couldn't speak English, and blocked me! The main reason I hired movers in the first place was to move this table and the matching couch table because they're very heavy! They didn't listen when I told them that they needed to move them first, so after moving the couch, loveseat, recliner, and matching table, theiy were hot and tired! WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!! DO NOT HIRE THEM!

My movers were supposed to arrive between 12-2pm (with the coordinator I spoke to saying it would most likely be 12), but they did not arrive until after 4pm. They were nice guys; but they didn't handle my stuff with care. I have nicks and a huge new scratch on my dresser -- I should've seen the red flag when they didn't wrap it (I've moved this dresser many times before and movers have always wrapped it) but just wanted to get the move over with. This dresser has stayed in perfect condition for several years and several moves, so I'm a bit heartbroken. I also have a hugeeeeee rip on my mattress (picture also attached). I'm unsure of how this will impact support and may have to buy an entirely new one. Throughout the process, I just felt very uneasy about how they were handling my stuff. They broke another one of items as well as a hallway light in my new apartment. I don't know if I have any recourse here because I noticed these things after they left, and don't have any before pictures.
