We have used Maxon Movers twice now and have been extremely pleased both times. Their services are efficient and competitively priced. Maxim and his moving partner make moving easy! The first time were just used their moving services (AKA manual labor for unloading boxes). The second time were used their truck, which was even easier. They loaded the truck, drove to our new place, and unloaded everything within 3 hours. I literally just pointed to which room I wanted to boxes unloaded. Hired Maxon Movers to do our local move. Excellent service! Quick, efficient and priced well. I had already packed the personal stuff (pictures, clothes, some kitchen) and Maxim and his silent partner (friendly but didn't talk) came in and finished the rest! Maxon Movers are careful, efficient polite movers with the best price. They moved some large pieces that were very difficult to fit through turns but they made it happen. I used Maxon for my local move and this is how it went down: 1) I checked out their rates on hireahelper.com and they were reasonable, but hireahelper required pre-payment, so I did some more research. 2) I called them and spoke to a nice lady (Irina) who gave me a quote over the phone (2 hour minimum, $75 per hour for 2 guys), and $75 per hour after the 2 hour minimum, billed in 0.5 hour increments. Also, $75 flat rate for a 24' moving van. (hire-a-helper rates were cheaper for additional hours, but 3 hour minimum, and much higher hourly rate for the van) 3) Moving day arrives! We had boxed everything, but they wrapped the furniture for us using these quilted pad things. I would recommend getting a bag from U-haul for your mattress ahead of time. 4) They were on time, but there was some douche blocking the loading dock of my apartment building, and they did NOT charge us for the 30 minutes it took to move said douche out of the driveway. 5) There was no loading dock or designated parking spot at the other end. The driver backed the truck into a very narrow tandem spot (I could have never done that with a U-haul). 6) We were moving to the 2nd story of a walkup. No extra charge for the stairs. Also, we lived on the 16th floor of a large apartment building. The only extra charge was $3 per roll of tape and they used 3 rolls of tape to hold the mattress pads to the furniture. 7) They didn't damage a thing, and finished in 4 hours. The best $384 (4x$75 + $75 for the truck + $9 tape) I ever spent in my life. Btw, just to give you an idea, we had: A giant 6'x6' bookshelf (weighs about 300 pounds) A smaller bookshelf 2 giant dressers (think 8 drawers each and as tall as me) 1 desk 2 couches 1 mattress 1 box spring 2 office chairs 4 side tables 1 coffee table A giant TV A TV cart ... and .... ~15 large (4.5 cu ft) boxes ~20 small (1.5 cu ft) boxes The small boxes were all books too. Don't ask why I have so many, I don't know. But they were heavy as all heck. And I didn't have to move a single thing! I've already recommended them to all of my friends, and I would definitely book directly because the rate seems to be better if you need the truck. read more

Arrived right on time for my move! I used them to move an 830 sq ft 1 bedroom apartment about 3 miles away to a 2-story townhouse. I chose them because of the great reviews on Yelp and their prices being lower than the other companies I received quotes from. A couple tips for you future clients though: 1) Buy a pack of tape from Walmart or something ahead of your move for these guys to use because it's $5 per roll of their tape and they used A LOT of tape (7 rolls!). 2) We went 1.5 hours over the estimated move time and I had already moved quite a few things myself, so I would definitely recommend you take apart everything you can think of ahead of time (tables, bookshelves...they even took the sofa covers off.) I'm not sure what else I could have done to speed things up. In short, all my interactions with Maxon Movers were very professional and friendly! They did my move in Jan. 2015. It was the same amount of stuff they had moved a year sooner, but it cost more than double. Maybe it was because I had a lot of boxes, and the guys moved them in ONE AT A TIME. Hello, there's an invention called a hand truck, that allows for moving multiple boxes at once. I had colored tape with the rooms on it that they completely ignored, instead just placing the boxes at random within the house. Maybe they can't read English. If it were possible to buy that tape printed in Spanish and Russian, I would, but it doesn't exist. AND, as a cherry on the top of a bad move sundae, one of their movers groped me during the move. It was pretty deliberate, I'm positive it wasn't an accident. If you are a woman, you really don't want to deal with their guys. Fortunately, this was a move from a rental to a house I bought, so maybe I'll never have to move again. read more

Disassembling pieces of furniture ahead of time helps too. **like the other reviews said as well, buy a package of packing tape. Otherwise they'll charge you per roll to secure furniture pads. Normally, my husband and I are DIY movers, but he has an injured shoulder (from our last move, actually) and we were moving into a 3-story townhouse and neither of our knees are in great shape. o_O We knew there was just no way for us to move ourselves without it costing a fortune in rotator cuff surgery, torn up furniture, and dinged-up walls in our new place! We got quotes from a number of movers in the DC metro area and Laurel (where we were moving from,) but we settled on Maxon because their rates were the most reasonable. Iryna sent us a quote in a very timely manner, and when my husband called to ask some questions, she was very pleasant and helpful. We put a $150 deposit down over the phone and got an invoice by email confirming all the details (and a very good price considering the effort we'd save not having to move ourselves.) The professionalism of it all gave us some peace of mind about our first time hiring movers. On moving day, our 2 movers showed up about 15 minutes early, which was fine by us! Their truck was more than big enough for our stuff. The guys were both very friendly, profession, and respectful, dressed neatly but ready to work, and they were also amazingly polite and funny! They were very quick but careful, and they took care to secure things that needed securing. They were also assertive, declining to move things that might break or make a mess (my outdoor plants, for instance), but also willing to make accommodations as necessary (a standup freezer that we've always moved without fully emptying it, for example.) They worked tirelessly and efficiently and there was not a single ding, scratch, accident or anything negative about the move. The final bill was almost a shock for how great of a value it was, even factoring the tip we gave our guys. (Be sure to tip your movers, especially if you've got a lot of stairs or tricky spaces/objects that they have to deal with.) All in all, it was the easiest moving day we've ever had, and we've moved maybe 7-8 times in the last 9 years? (Lost count by now.) If I had it to do over again, I would have probably kept the movers for an extra hour or so taking most of my boxes to wherever I needed them -- my knees are still complaining about my frugality. If wouldn't hesitate to recommend Maxon for anyone who needs movers. They did an excellent job and were an excellent value. read more

I had some initial problems in setting up the move, which I just made sure that it was all correct before booking with them. A minor issue. Also, the estimate was extremely optimistic, but I knew that going into it. On the day of the move, my movers were very professional and courteous. They took great care with our things and both places. They always brought things to our attention if they thought it might be a problem. There was no problem. The customer service representative Irma wasn't helpful in providing an accurate estimate. She was rather short in detail while I'm trying to conduct a long distance move in providing an accurate estimate of my items in storage. She gave me an estimate of $5500-6000 without knowing what is in the storage. My recommendation is to provide the customers with accurate information before determining the final quote. I requested someone to come to the storage while I was in town so the items could be delivered as soon as possible. Bad customer service representative. Update Stated in my message I stated the items have been in storage for years therefore, I need someone from your company to give me an estimate. You decided to give me a quote instead of an appointment. I'm coordinating a big move so if I contacted this company like I did 2 others to get the best quote. You were the only company that was short your behavior was as if you didn't want to be bothered in basically customer service setting up an estimate quote. I'm in Florida, flying out next week to get my things delivered so don't insult me with your negative response saying I didn't want you all assistance. You have yet to understand how to give good customer service! I will have an excellent move thanks to the other professional companies who have responded professionally with my request. This is a family business and it shows in every detail from the scheduling process through the thoughtful consideration in handling each piece of furniture. The movers were very professional. It took a total of 7 hours to move our 2 bedroom apartment, so slightly more expensive than I originally expected (original quote was for 4 hours). But they packed everything, down to the last pot, pan, salt shaker, etc., so that's why it took longer I guess. The only other issue was that there were a few ceramic cups/plates that were chipped. I would definitely recommend them. Just make sure you know exactly how many hours it will take to move in order to have the most accurate quote of the pricing. And make sure your fragile belongings are packed very well (like with bubble wrap, styrofoam, etc., instead of just paper). read more

I had a bit of a difficult move as I started at a house in Glen Burnie, then had to stop at an apartment in Laurel, and then ended at my new apartment in Ellicott City. The 2 movers came early which was awesome, got done at the first house after under 20 minutes, and the second apartment was done in under 40! We moved the weekend of March 22 and hired Maxon for our 32-mile move from the D.C. metro to the Baltimore metro. We had Max and his buddy for our move and they were nothing short of excellent. My husband and I hired Maxon Movers to move the larger/heavier items of our 2-bedroom apartment to another nearby apartment, less than 5 miles away. We have a piano, which costs extra, but the price was still very reasonable for the whole move. The two movers showed up a little early (15-20 minutes) and had the truck loaded within 30 minutes with our items. Since there would have been an extra charge to wrap our TV, the movers offered to help us load the TV into one of our cars to forego the extra cost, which was greatly appreciated. Overall, the movers were very friendly, careful with our items, and did their best to help us stay within the timeframe (finished early!) and within the quoted price. The 10% discount for paying cash instead of using a card was also a steal. We were so impressed with them that we used them again for a 2nd time to move two items from North Bethesda to Laurel with similarly excellent results. We have recommended them to others that are moving in the near future and would recommend them to anyone moving around the DMV area. read more

We used Maxon movers for a local move and would recommend them without hesitation It was easy to schedule on line and Iryna was very patient with all of my questions and rescheduling. The movers showed up early which was a plus. Nothing was broken and everything made it safely. They even moved little stuff we forgot that wasn't packed. Also, we took apart the crib and covered our mattresses and sofa's ahead of time ---this saved some time. We used Maxon for our move within the Towson area a couple of weeks ago. I contacted a couple of other movers, but Maxon gave the lowest quote with the most services. They disassemble and reassemble furniture for free! On moving day, the movers showed up on time with a giant truck and two very strong guys. I was searching online for a reasonably priced moving company to move furniture from my 2 bed apartment to my new condo and stumbled across Maxon. The booking process was really easy and Iryna explained my options and a breakdown on how the move would go. Max and his worker came early to our move, broke down our large furniture, and reassembled everything in our new home!
