I hired B&K Painting after receiving several other bids. I could not be happier with my decision. They painted every room, a few ceilings, stairwell and entryway. Their cut ins to the existing ceiling paint were exceptional. They removed and replaced all light fixtures, wall plates, vents, etc to create a very professional and finished end product. They were tidy, prompt each day, communicative, enjoyable to have around, and took great pride in their work. I will 100% call on them again when I need any future painting projects tackled. We contacted B&K based on the good reviews and our initial interactions were good. However, after multiple emails and calls, we never were provided a bid for our home. Strange that someone would show up to review the work and then simply not communicate. The job wasn't small, but if you don't have the time to complete the work we understand, just communicate that. read more

Bad painter, peeling paint, refuses to fix, rude and unprofessional

I did a little painting with my Father in law (a painter) and I was in charge of a paint shop in the USAF and learned a lot about paint. I must say B&K paint crew was very good, the lead (Emory) was very nice and listen to everything I needed done (locked gates because of dogs). Emory is very shy, but his crew did everything right. They did a paint test, to show the previous paint adhesion, which my paint failed (bleed of oil or wax from wood or paint) the would cause " fish eyes" non-adhesion. In the old days we would add a additive to the paint that would make the paint adhesive to the base coat, they did a primer instead. The crew still had many areas that had problems, they solved all of them. The crew was respectful and nice. In todays world this crew was right on, I would recommend them to all my neighbors, including my one of neighbor who has a paint crew fail to show 2 weeks in a row, I gave him BK number, we will see. read more

Most professional paint company I've ever seen! Hanks down.

I don't write many reviews, but I feel the need to let people know about the good business as well as the bad. This is one of the good ones. I called in August to have my house painted. It's the original contractor's paint and has been on the house for 14 years. It needed painting BAD! I priced many painting companies, referenced the BBB and got several estimates. B&K were about the middle estimate but offered fantastic quality paints, warranty, and could get my house painted before the end of the season. In October, they power washed the exterior and a few days later returned to caulk and prime bare areas. They arrived on a Friday to paint. They were at the house at 8 and cleaned up and gone by 3. I arrived at the house at noon for lunch and a swarm of workers were taking care of business! The house looks FANTASTIC! The paint is great, you can tell it is on thick. Our porch bannister looks so good I can't believe it. Chris color matched the original house color (what we wanted) and we decided to very slightly change the trim color. Chris also suggested painting the corners of the house the body color to make the house look more modern. Painting the trim on the corners is how it was done about 15 years ago, when the house was new. Take a look around, you'll see what I mean. We LOVE the job they did. They cleaned up everything. They even put my BBQ back on the porch when they were done. I had put it in the grass to be out of the way. My neighbor came by to say he loved the work they did and had already called them for an estimate! I highly recommend this company for your painting needs. I'm very satisfied with their work. They will be my FIRST call if I ever need more painting done. It may be a while though, this paint job is going to last! read more

I was charged to repaint one of my rental houses in Boise, and their painters not only did a horrendous job, but also came back the next night and stole my tenants TVs. We caught them on camera, company truck and everything, and they still refuse to bring it back. The authorities are involved. read more

When we bought our house, almost every inch of it was painted with a yellow hue. It needed to get painted over but we couldn't even start to the job ourselves. The main part of our house has tall ceilings and lots of wall, which made the situation daunting. We brought in a couple contractors who told us the job was extremely difficult, would be very expensive and generally made us feel like we were stuck with this color for awhile. Then....we brought in B&K Painting. Chris shows up with a positive attitude, checks out our house and definitely made us feel better about the possibility of the job getting done. We get the estimate and it's literally exactly our budget. When John and the painting crew showed up on the job I knew this was going to go well. Super professional. Their crew worked very fast, efficient, and careful. I was impressed on every level. House looks fantastic and I'm hoping to bring them back next year to do some more rooms! I have, what I consider to be, a somewhat difficult house to paint (two-story, full height on all four sides), with certain areas requiring staining other than painting. B&K painting did a perfect job, on schedule, no touch ups required. The company was in touch with me before every step, reviewing colors and finishes and the schedule every step of the way. B&K painted the exterior of our house a few years ago. Based on the quality of their work, it was a no brainer to use them again for the interior. Chris came and looked through the house, listened to what we wanted and said it would take two weeks(4,000 square feet to paint with a lot of woodwork and plantation shutters). The bid came in towards the middle of what I expected. For two weeks we had up to five people working all day to get the job done. I've dealt with many tradesmen over the years on various home projects and B&K ranks among the best. The professionalism, attention to detail and communication deserve an A+ with a bullet. You may be able to find cheaper but I doubt you'll be able to find better. Highly recommended. read more

Low rating due to unprofessional response from owner. Rec'd an updated quote from this company earlier this month. We agreed on a time for exterior work in the fall. All that remained was to hear back from owner on a couple of questions I had concerning project. Questions related to confirming price since quote was over a 1 1/2 yrs old, if different type paint would be used on stucco cracks, experience level of crew assigned to our project and if he'd be overseeing project as part of the crew. I received an email just before midnight blasting me for asking questions that were too vague and that he's never rec'd questions like this in the 15 yrs in biz. He essentially said that he didn't think he could work with me. Wow! Never rec'd questions like this before? I responded to this email in a positive manner saying I was still interested in getting work done but needed to hear back from him by phone since emails weren't working. Never got a call to remedy situation or give me an opportunity to square things away. Poorest customer treatment since I moved to Boise over a dozen yrs ago. All I wanted was some reassurance which any customer deserves. To be fair, this company does send an informational pkg along with their quote that hits on a lot of information I was looking for but I didn't get a copy sent as I only rec'd copy of old quote. These guys do good work and I had a good experience with them years earlier on some interior work. I wrote this review based on poor customer relations on an upcoming exterior project. read more

First of all, I want to say Chris and his team are top notch in their field one of the best I have been in the custom home business for 30 years in Newport Beach and Los Angeles and I work on high-end custom homes for the rich and famous etc. And bk painting is the type of painters I see on my jobs, now I do have a complaint about another reviewer here on Yelp giving fake reviews by the name James F. It's obvious he no business ties with bk look where he is from Bakersfield, not Idaho and I doubt he owns rental property in Boise and I think yelp should investigate this its only fair also it's a good business practice and show of professionalism it's a serious accusation that can be easuily investigated with one phone call to local authority or to the non existing tenats .reviews that are blatent lie's need to be erased Sincerely, just another hard working tradesman read more

B & K painting painted our home last year and did an acceptable job. We have another home that we were going to have them paint again and we chose another company only because the bid was $3500 less and were available because it was a local company there. I emailed B & K to let them know and I received this response "please remove us from your email list". I was extremely taken back with that response. We have dealt with a lot of companies with our remodel and none like this. Service is extremely important to us and in our first job with them we had a few communication issues that were uncomfortable but I still chose to work with them because their work was acceptable. Just discovered Idaho Painter Chris Berry. He has many videos on Youtube, we just subscribed and 'liked' 7 or 8 videos already. The videos are complete with instructions, he doesn't rush through them, explains laying out a wall, trim work, use caulk for ultra straight lines, even shows his top 10 tools. And he sells everything right down to his appeal. I would certainly recommend him. May check back in a few months down the line when our painting is complete and report how many Idaho Painter techniques we used. read more

In 2012 my husband and I decided that it was time to paint our house and add some color to our drab street. I called three different painting companies in Boise, before calling B & K and let me tell you, Chris and his team were by far the most helpful, professional and dedicated out of the group. One company - advertising free estimates, blew my husband and I off completely! We asked our friends for recommendations and two different friends mentioned B & K without hesitation. We appreciated Chris' guidance on choosing colors and couldn't believe how fast and efficient they worked - on a holiday no less! The entire exterior of our two story house was painted within 8 hours and it was perfect! B & K followed up after our house was completed asking us to double check to make sure everything was perfect and we were happy! Almost a year later - we are still tickled on how everything turned out. Most importantly, Chris and crew were very respectful of our budget and time. When the crew was slated to show up - they were actually 10 minutes early and our property was cleaner after they left than when they began. And, their estimate was right on the mark and there was almost a $1,000 difference with the other bids.
