While en route to Cedar Point from Columbus with an SUV full of kids, I started to experience car trouble. My daughter googled auto repair shops near us as the handling of my SUV began to decline rapidly and I slowed down and drove with my hazards on. By the grace of God, we were only 5 minutes from Tom's Auto Repair! As I pulled into their parking lot, Daniel came out from the garage right away to make sure we were okay as he noticed the flashers on. I explained to him what I was experiencing and after emptying my vehicle of restless kids, the team had it up on a lift in no time and quickly diagnosed the issue(s). They said I was lucky that I stopped, as with the state of my wheel bearing and front bushing, we might not have even made it the next 30 minutes to the park. Daniel didn't have the specific part I needed, but called around to other local shops to see if anyone had it on hand. With none found nearby, he and Alexis helped me problem solve from that point on. I called AAA to tow my SUV to a repair shop back home, and Daniel was already on the phone with local taxi services to to help us a way to Cedar Point, without me even asking. Alexis then called Fleet One for a rental and a Ford Explorer was delivered to the auto shop in less than 15 minutes! The tow truck came quickly as well, and Daniel provided a written analysis of the issue and parts needed to pass along to my local shop. What's even more impressive, is that he refused to collect a dime for his and his team's time, diagnosis, and help. They even cleaned up a wound and provided a bandaid for one of my son's friends who was with us! I was in tears by the time I left, grateful for the good people that God placed us close to at a time of need. I highly recommend Tom's Auto Repair to anyone in the Norwalk area and will always be a fan! Thanks again for saving my son's 13th birthday and keeping us safe, Daniel & team. I don't personally know these people at all, but I have used them twice in the last year for big repairs, one on a 2009 Mercedes and another on a 2009 VW Touareg. I went in anyway, really to confirm the pricing I saw on the corporate Hyundai website. Well, Jon didn't let that pricing be. He worked with Vincent, a manager, and they were able to beat our price point, tax, title, license, out the door. They were sure to confirm what we wanted (no trying to give us a FWD when we wanted AWD like we experienced other places), and gave us their best price. The shop had my vehicle multiple times and repeatedly provided different explanations for the delays, including ordering incorrect parts, parts being on backorder, mechanic staffing issues, and needing to start the repair process over. Eventually, I was told they could not obtain the necessary A/C compressor. When I requested a refund because the repair was never completed, I was told that work had been performed on the vehicle. However, the service I paid for was a functioning A/C system with a properly replaced compressor, which was never achieved. I have since had to seek repairs elsewhere. Based on my experience, communication was poor, the repair was not completed, and the matter remains unresolved. I cannot recommend this business and would encourage others to carefully consider their options before having work performed here.

He was excited to take the challenge and learn along the way. The job reached a point where it required tools that we do not have. He knew he needed help so he called our local shop, S&S. We wanted to support an independent, small business in our town. The Owner showed up with a flatbed while my son was still bolting the wheel on. The Owner climbed under the front wheel without being asked, to bolt the tie rod back on. It seemed like good customer service at the time. He took the car and we waited for a call with an estimate. The call never came. The next day they called my son to tell him his car was done, and handed him a bill for $646.10. The Owner charged my son $175 to tow his car 2 blocks to his own shop where they did the work without first discussing with my son what it would cost. My son bought all the parts, they were in the car. My son did 90% of the tear down, with the right tools, which I assume they have, it would have been a 2 hour task at most to install the new axle in and put it all back together. They charged $100 hr, and insisted it took them 4 hours. When I questioned the desk attendant, he told us the owner told him he had to crawl under my son's car and do all kinds of work just to get it on the tow truck. He tightened a bolt. It was 2 minutes of his time, and no one asked him to do it. This is about character. If they're willing to take advantage of a 19 year old young man, how do you think they will treat you, your son, your daughter or your wife?

Multiple attempts at reaching him to get excuses that hes out hunting, meanwhile I can see all the other people hes doing auto repair work for giving him reviews during the months I was waiting. Derek diagnosed my issue as a broken clutch. I ended up taking the car to a transmission shop in town and they laughed at Derek's diagnosis of the clutch. It ended up being my axle that broke. Derek gave me a failed diagnosis, charged me for it, blew me off for months and months and now his wife is telling me "its a me problem because im their only complaint" instead of making it right.
