My 19 year old son spent 3 days outside in the cold trying to fix his own car. He's gifted in this way and has always loved cars. He has a strong work ethic and he wanted to do it himself. He was excited to take the challenge and learn along the way. The job reached a point where it required tools that we do not have. He knew he needed help so he called our local shop, S&S. We wanted to support an independent, small business in our town. The Owner showed up with a flatbed while my son was still bolting the wheel on. The Owner climbed under the front wheel without being asked, to bolt the tie rod back on. It seemed like good customer service at the time. He took the car and we waited for a call with an estimate. The call never came. The next day they called my son to tell him his car was done, and handed him a bill for $646.10. The Owner charged my son $175 to tow his car 2 blocks to his own shop where they did the work without first discussing with my son what it would cost. My son bought all the parts, they were in the car. My son did 90% of the tear down, with the right tools, which I assume they have, it would have been a 2 hour task at most to install the new axle in and put it all back together. They charged $100 hr, and insisted it took them 4 hours. When I questioned the desk attendant, he told us the owner told him he had to crawl under my son's car and do all kinds of work just to get it on the tow truck. He tightened a bolt. It was 2 minutes of his time, and no one asked him to do it. This is about character. I just needed the ball on my tow hitch tightened. Gentlemen came out with pipe wrenches in hand and got the job done. No charge Mam! They were courteous and friendly. Nice to have a small local business like this in Oberlin. read more

Terrible! Paid $750 for a clutch to be installed wrong. And also them replacing parts that were fine to begin with! So not only am I out that money but my car as well right now. If I could do negative stars I would. Update: My car wasn't a "train wreck" as you stated.. the slave cylinder was fine, it was actually the throw out bearing that was messed up from previous owners... The transmission was out 4 times, because they apparently don't know how to install a clutch... As for any other shop not wanting to touch it, is a joke. I didn't even look into other shops to repair it, which I should of!! Terrible, unprofessional place! "Mechanics" is a word used very loosely in this so called "shop." And the only reason my boyfriend called is because we were told it would be done the next day, then the owner started to get rude on the phone. Let's not forget the part about you guys leaving it unlocked outside, with the keys in the ignition, when you were suppose to call when it was back together! read more

This team is the best out here in Oberlin! My sisters car needed a lot of repair before she was moving to Georgia. They actually told us what parts were needed and tried to make it as affordable as possible. Keith and his wife were the most friendly and help people I have ever met at an auto repair store. Don't go here. Their repairs are not reliable. They put in a new starter and forgot to reconnect everything under the hood before they gave it back to me, so I had to bring it back. They're more worried about getting things done quickly than really sitting with the problem and working to diagnose it properly first. If you need something done same-day, these are your guys, but otherwise go to Joey at Oberlin Auto Clinic. read more

Fantastic place! I took the car in today for a couple of weather-related issues and they went out of their way to handle it all for me quickly. Brought my car here for a evap leak, power stearing line and a sway bar they were supposed to call and let me know what was he issues was and give me an estimate before they did any work but failed to...they called me three days later and told me my car was fished and was almost 700 then lied about why they didn't call said I have no voice mail but I gave them multiple number to reach me...paid for the repairs and a few days latter same evap leak took it back it and they claimed it was a defective vent valve that they installed smoke tested it twice and said they would take care of it because its under warranty got my car back and same thing took it back again for a 3rd time they say it's my purge canister valve instead they said they vacuum tested it and it was constantly suckin asked them to please call me again before they make any repairs for a second time and they ignored my request and made more repairs without notifying me and charged me another $85..Guess what still not fixed went back a forth time today and they said basically I wasted my money on unneeded parts and they can't tell me what's wrong there only Mechanic's not magicians..?? They said just drive it the way it is after all my wasted time and money.. told them I was going to report them and the owners rude daughter that was helping me told me I can if i want but I can't prove anything so im out the $ I can take my car somewhere eles and that she doesn't care I wasted all that money it wasn't alot and it's not their problem....way to treat you customers and stand by you fine work guys...please people save your hard earned money and find another repair shop read more
