He's been growing out his hair for almost 3 years. Senior portraits are soon and I pretty much begged my son to do something/ ANYTHING to his hair. Reluctantly and after much research, he opted for a wolf cut. CJ is so talented! My son showed him a picture of the haircut. He took a glance, said OK and started chopping away. Making another appointment in 8 wks. By far the BEST barber we've gone to yet. Mahalo CJ for giving my son a boost in his confidence and for making this Mom happy.

I was desperate for a haircut as I have resorted to cutting my own hair in these dark times for the last year. Yelp was skimpy in reviews for good barbershops which dampened my morale for my search. I did a bit of shopping and a young man working at a Volcom store had one of the freshest looking mid fades with neat scissor cut on top I had ever seen. I pressed this man for a clue. Anything to rejuvenate my search for a lead.. He not only supplied a name, but he also gave me an Instagram account to follow! This was key in solidifying the booking of my appointment: Kauai Paa @styledby_paa Nestled at the top of a staircase, The Empire Maui, is a clean barbershop with a brotherly, island vibe. Kauai is highly personable and asks all the necessary questions to give your best preferred look while paying very close attention to detail. He took his time and he clearly wanted to get my cut right. I left the shop feeling like a million bucks. I highly recommend getting a haircut here.

Yikes! Other day I checked in online and drove over. I was walking in the door and before 1 foot…read morecrossed the threshold the girl from the back left chair who was cutting someone's hair yelled at me, "we are booked for the reset of the day". I said, "oh, I have an appointment" and she immediately said "no you don't". Uhhhh, what?!? There are about 7 people including other customers in the salon all who are now staring at me... so I said "I checked in online, would you like my name?" and she said "no we are booked!" It was so rude and embarrassing that I said "you know what, I did have an appointment but I will just go somewhere else, thanks". She rolled her eyes and went back to work. I went to the Maui Mall Super Cuts and had a really welcoming and nice visit. I live a few blocks from the Maui Lani location but after this interaction I will certainly being driving across town to the Maui Mall location, they mo' bettah for sure.

So, the lady didn't greet when I entered and check out my husband who happened his haircut almost done. He asked if his haircut was good enough and I suggested to trim more some part of it. Surprisingly, the lady told me with irritated voice, "you just came and you want me to trim again!" I got pissed but remained calm and told her just do whatever she likes and left. I understand that people gets tired maybe because she was busy all day but we are customers and we don't deserve to be treated that way.
