This was key in solidifying the booking of my appointment: Kauai Paa @styledby_paa Nestled at the top of a staircase, The Empire Maui, is a clean barbershop with a brotherly, island vibe. Kauai is highly personable and asks all the necessary questions to give your best preferred look while paying very close attention to detail. He took his time and he clearly wanted to get my cut right. I left the shop feeling like a million bucks. I highly recommend getting a haircut here.

To be fair, the staff were very friendly and welcoming, but it seems they may be more experienced with women's cuts than young boys' haircuts. I've always passed by this shop when I'd be at Maui Mall, but never knew they cut children's hair as young as 1! We were able to make an appointment the same day which worked out perfectly. I don't remember the name of the lady that cut our son's hair, but she was really fast and efficient. This was our son's first hair cut ever (he's 3 1/2) and I was worried he'd get nervous. However, she made him feel comfortable and was able to patiently work around our super ticklish, squirmy little boy. About 18" of hair gone, just like that! My heart may have broken just a little, haha. We were in and out in less than 30 minutes and my son's been loving his short hair ever since. I only wish she had used regular scissors vs. the razor as it can damage hair, but overall pleased with the results. The shop is pretty basic, but spacious and clean. They met our needs and we'll be back for another haircut for the kiddo in the future.
