I called a contractor I had worked with previously, and also Benning Construction. The owner, Eric Benning, came to my home personally to provide an estimate. He told me up front that he was probably going to be more expensive than my other bid, but that he was worth it. He was right. With that said, the value he and his team brought to the project far exceeded the price difference (which was about 8%). His team put together a full project plan and managed all the subs necessary. They showed up on time every single day throughout the project. They took ZERO money up front, and billed only for work completed, after it had been done. All I had to do was pick my counter tops, color, and open the door each morning when they showed up (ON TIME). The people who work for Benning enjoy what they do, are clean, polite, and extremely good at their profession. Every night before they headed out, they vacuumed the ENTIRE work area, put their stuff away, and made the whole kitchen renovation process as easy as possible. In fact, we hardly had to go out at all, as the way they timed all the work only put my kitchen out of commission for a total of three days or so. The rest of the time I was able to use my appliances, sink, etc. We recently sold the house they did the kitchen renovation in, and the kitchen was a major factor in making the sale quickly, and getting top dollar for it. Benning also did a custom accent wall at our request, which was beautiful. Everyone who entered the house couldn't help but gasp when they saw it. We liked it so much, we just had them do the same type of wall in our new house. See the pics; it looks amazing. If you're in the market for a contractor in the Sacramento area from July 2014 - September 2014, DON'T call this contractor as he is all booked up and wont give you the time of day! Response to comment from business owner; Thank you for your response to my review of your business. Please allow me to reiterate some of my review and more clearly state my thoughts about my interactions with Purdy Construction. Getting back to a customer in a timely manner: Business standard is to return a phone call within 24 hours, especially when you have a dedicated person (Susan) taking business calls. I waited 72 hours before phoning again. Since there is another review about not responding to a customer inquiry, it sounds like this has been a previous issue. Time frame for project start: As I stated in my review, it is not a rush job and I was fine with the project starting in September. I am completely happy with your availability. Asking ME to phone back in September for a quote: This is what I have an issue with. As a customer, the business should take the responsibility in getting back to a client, or potential client, not the client. My information should've been taken down and a quote taken within a couple of weeks (my hours are flexible and would've been happy to work around your full schedule), and not start the project until September. Never the less, I have already lined up a quote from another contractor. If I accept the bid, the project will not start until late August/ early September, which is perfectly fine with me. I was not able to stay for the entire install as I had to leave for work. When I got home not only was everything in place and working perfect but all cleaned up - it was like he was never there! With the exception of the beautiful new items, of course. My grandma said everything had gone really well while I was gone. We have had bad experiences with contractors in the past leaving garbage, debris, unfinished work, or just doing an overall sketchy job. Jamie is friendly, honest and efficient. We will definitely be contacting him next time we need work done.

We reached out for a quote, and he responded promptly, coming out quickly (same day of request) to assess the space we wanted to renovate. He provided a detailed proposal with a clear breakdown of costs and installment plans based on project milestones--which worked perfectly for us. He also provides invoices upon request. The crew was fantastic. Demolition took just a day and a half, debris removal was done in a day, framing the next, and then concrete work followed--altogether about 4.5 days of solid work. Siale was also very considerate of our concerns, especially around trash day--he made sure the garbage truck could still access the alley, which we really appreciated. For us, communication was the top priority, especially with a project of this size, and Siale exceeded expectations. He regularly checked in, sent updates through videos and photos, and was consistently on-site, ensuring everything was done properly and to a high standard. This companys terms requested 80% ($4K out of a $5K) total job just for framing, leaving only $1000 to be paid at finish. Paying $4K out of $5K before any concrete is delivered or finished leaves buyer with zero leverage for job satifactory. When i explained this to the owner he accused me of disrespecting him and his business. I meant no disrespect but also explained that if he was not willing to follow CSLB and revise his terms, I was going to pass on his quote and go with another bidder that i had previous experience with. All I expect is licensed, honest and law abiding contractors who do whats legal and ethical!
