The first thing you should know, is that Rio is not just some guy who only shows-up at your job site to collect the bag-fulls of money you will likely need (regardless of who you hire) if you are unfortunate enough to need structural foundation repairs; but on the other hand, Rio was there every day on our job directing/orchestrating his crew and swinging a hammer with the best of them. That said, even if you don't know didley about foundation repairs, but are freakin'-out enough to start calling foundation experts, I can tell you from my experience of having no less than 13 contractors/foundation companies coming out in the past year before hiring Montgomery, Rio was the only one who instilled in me any confidence that his job approach was the right one for resurrecting the listing /crumbling foundation of our otherwise structurally sound 1920s Land Park garage. I initially emailed Rio pix of the deteriorated slab/foundation/dramatic leaning of the garage before he came out for his extremely thorough evaluation; and yes he did charge a fee (which was applied against his bid), but I can tell you it was the best investment I could have made. I have been in this home 43 years and am pretty handy with repairs/general construction, but I do leave the complicated jobs like foundations/roofs/HVAC to the pros, and I do know enough to ask the right questions and know the right answers when I hear them. If you don't have that kind of knowledge yourself, DON'T WORRY, Rio will give you the "straight-story" and you WON'T have to worry about getting ripped-off by shoddy work or un-needed repairs to "jack-up" a repair bill. Upon accepting the bid, Rio arranged for his structural engineer to draw-up the plans and took care of all the permitting, which went seamless, and on one occasion during the project while the city inspector was meeting with Rio on the job site, they were both on the phone with the engineer to discuss some of the foundation plans; which obviously made the "passing" inspections proceed without delays. Our job involved actually lifting the entire garage on steel beams and demo-ing the shot slab & foundation/re-racking the entire building with "come-alongs"/new internal bracing/seismic bolt & plates for the upgraded footers/headers, all which was brought up to current city code. Rio initially gave me two bids for my choosing: one to generally fix the foundation issues by repair or the second option, which I chose, to completely renovate the garage, and I couldn't be happier with Rio's attention to detail. He estimated 6 weeks from start to finish and Office Manage Dana always kept me advised of scheduling to keep Rio and crew from being in 14 places as one time! The crews always let me know beforehand what was scheduled for the day and ALWAYS showed-up on time and were a quite pleasant competent crew (Thank you to Travis, Rick, Jessie & Jesus for the great work!) OK I could go on and on, but I will say I am pretty picky who works on our house and Rio is as honest and competent as you will find, right alongside other top-notch contractors I have used ie "Fargo Construction" (now retired Land Park remodeler); "Sierra Pacific" for HVAC; and "Cal Vintage Roofing". To sum it up, we were extremely grateful that Montgomery took on our project and couldn't be happier. Thankyou Rio, Dana and the rest of the crew !!

The office gave me Rio's email and I emailed and then spoke to him on the phone. He said he would contact me to schedule the appointment. he never contacted me. I called the office and they kept saying he would contact me. i also emailed him again. He never responded. if he was to busy to do the job, he should have let me know that right away instead of wasting my time. I think his lack of follow thru was very unprofessional.

We removed a wall in our two story house a couple of years back and started to notice uneven floors…read morethroughout our house. I was worried that the beam supporting the roof was not adequate and that was leading to foundation issues. Most online advice suggested to hire a structural engineer to inspect the foundation, as contractors may blow minor issues out of proportion an suggest unnecessary repairs. The structural engineers quoted me $500 for an inspection and they wanted pictures from a foundation repair contractor anyways, since they wouldn't go into crawl spaces. I was losing sleep thinking about my uneven floors, so I decided to reach out to NorCal Ram Jack for a free estimate. What was there to lose? After filling out their online request form they reached out within a couple of hours and scheduled an appointment the following week with Adam, their Foundation Specialist. Adam showed up early and I was easily able to communicate my concerns to him. He measured the elevation differential throughout my house, asked about details of the removed wall and installed beam, and answered all my concerns. He walked us through his thought process and what signs of concerns we should look for that would warrant a foundation repair. We are lucky that our house currently doesn't have issues of concern, but I wouldn't hesitate to contact Ram Jack again with the peace of mind they gave us.

They peeled the carpet back,drilled the holes and re-installed the carpets to the best of their ability (which actually isn't bad at all). Fence+gate have been fixed as well. They aren't fence guys or carpet guys so leaving a review about those not done to the quality of someone who does it professionally isn't necessary, although they did do a good job with both. We appreciate the 2nd visit, no one had contacted me to change my 1star review, this is of my own doing a week later. No refund,no pay out, no negotiating, we didn't sign anything stating the review would come down after work was done. We appreciate all your guys hard work and cheerful attitude. I contracted Norcal Foundation Support in July 2025 for what was supposed to be a two-week, $52,130…read morefoundation stabilization project at my hillside home. What followed was nearly a year of mismanagement, broken commitments, and financial consequences I'm still dealing with. They no-showed on the agreed start date. I called them at 10am to find out why -- they told me they were stuck on another job. No warning, no proactive communication. It only got worse from there. The job stretched into months of sporadic work. Midway through, they told me they needed a subcontractor for core drilling -- something that should have been identified during scoping -- then let months pass without scheduling one. My property sat in a hazardous state the entire time: open holes covered only by wood boards, piles of excavated dirt, debris, and equipment surrounded by caution tape. My homeowner's insurance company conducted a routine inspection, found the condition of my property unacceptable, threatened to drop my policy, and ultimately imposed a $2,000 surcharge. Resolving that took significant time and effort. Faced with no resolution in sight, I was pressured into accepting a reduced scope of work -- specifically, no tiebacks. Tiebacks were explicitly included in my signed contract and shown on the job drawing. Without them, there is no guarantee my home will remain stable on the hillside. I paid $52,130 for a project that does not solve my problem. After agreeing to the reduced plan, it took more months to redraw plans and pull permits, then more weeks to schedule the final visit to seal holes and reconnect drainage. On that scheduled day, they no-showed. Again. When they arrived the next day, they left without finishing. Their excuse: my gardener had told them not to proceed. My gardener -- someone I know well and trust -- told me he said no such thing. Norcal did not just take direction from someone with no authority over my contract. They fabricated an excuse to walk off the job. This company demonstrated the same pattern of behavior from the very first day to the very last: no communication, no accountability, and no follow-through.

Foundation Repair of CA (FRC) is the most disreputable, dishonest company I've ever encountered. I…read morehired them because I didn't want to hire the lowest bidder for a change, and I regret it. I wouldn't sign the contract when told I'd have to do my own masonry repair until sales agent Jesse Marquez showed me FRC corporate material that indicated the brick facade would be removed with a masonry saw, in an approximate 2x2' square. That was false and deceptive advertising. This is what they did to my house. No masonry saw was used, only impact drills, which act as small jackhammers. FRC significantly damaged the entire brick facade, adjacent areas showed extensive cracking, entire areas had the brick facade knocked completely off the house, and the wall foundation was separated from the brick wall entirely. I told the work crew, headed by Luis, to stop using impact wrenches on the bricks immediately, then told them TWICE. Not only did they not stop, despite direct STOP work orders, they then took all of the bricks they'd destroyed, which legally is theft, called conveyance. Jesse Marquez explained that the bricks were so old they'd shattered. Luis returned the bricks after Jesse Marquez called, ignoring my several phone calls and texts. Jesse texted that the bricks were so old they'd shattered. Luis returned them, none were shattered, all were broken by the impact drills. Luis confirmed, texting that the bricks were "broken". They took the bricks to hide the damage. The day FRC received my Contractor's State Licensing Board complaint, FRC messaged that someone would come to assess the damage for repairs, and FRC would repair the masonry they'd destroyed. They first sent Robert Pagan, who acknowledged both that there were no masonry saw marks, and that the damage was excessive. According to FRC, Jesse stated Robert hadn't said this. It wasn't until I pointed out he'd said it while standing in front of a Ring camera did that lie die. FRC then sent Troy Knight, who acknowledged the same, and stated he was there to help, and would see that the masonry was repaired and more. I have several texts, voicemails and emails from FRC stating they will complete the job. They never did. FRC employee Mike Crites was sent to perform the repairs. He returned the following week with the wrong sized bricks in the wrong color, and proceeded to do more damage. This is the work that they did. FRC employee Mike Crites initially stated that he had retired as a mason, he later revised that statement, saying he'd only worked with pavers and concrete. The work performed was so substandard, FRC sent Jovincio, who was the only honest person in my entire dealings with FRC. Jovencio said he wasn't a mason, but had "some training". Jovencio replaced the work done by Mike Crites. This is Mike's effort, and Jovincio's replacement work. The work performed is clearly substandard and unacceptable. FRC acknowledged the workers sent lacked the skills, training and necessary certifications to perform masonry repairs. When I requested that FRC send a mason, and included photos of the work, FRC responded that they'd done me a favor; the workers sent were a courtesy. The very clause they'd ignored (and invalidated) by removing the bricks was cited. That they would do no more, leaving me with the bill for their damage. This is what they left. I obtained a second quote to repair the deficient masonry 'work' FRC workers had done - without a REQUIRED permit, with no mortar pins, odd-sized and broken bricks mortared in randomly, mortar lines that range from non-existent to more than an inch. Crites' also removed the brick facade foundation in several sections, replacing it with sloppy concrete. This is a code-violating 'repair' that is neither plumb nor square. The legitimate mason company from whom I obtained a repair quote updated the quote, which has nearly doubled BECAUSE of the 'repairs' performed by the unqualified FRC employees. FRC called this doing me a favor, saying the inept crew was sent as a 'courtesy'. This is not doing me a favor, this is not a courtesy, this is at best fraud. After signing the contract (under false pretenses), Jesse insisted I needed an additional pier ($3,155) because piers can no longer be placed under a window. A pier was placed under the window. Two other piers were not placed according to the county approved structural engineering ($1,850) diagram. Half the piers were installed in the wrong places, apparently according to Luis' whims. Yesterday Groundworks gave an estimate on properly placing those piers. That's how I learned that the improperly placed piers had lifted a joist completely off its foundation supports. This, too, will require additional expense to correct, before it damages my house - literally to the roof. I should have stuck with Groundworks. This is your cautionary tale - no one who values integrity, ESPECIALLY senior women, shouldn't hire FRC.

Since you mentioned me in another post, I'll create a posting, as that's not me! You are a flake. Plain and simple. You agreed to a price, now complain about it? How about being professional, communicating and keeping your word. Here that, KEEPING YOUR WORD! You damaged my property, said you would return and fix, but didn't. Then you claimed you got sick, no communication afterwards and I had to call and text how many times to get a response? You said you would get me scheduled, then ghosted AGAIN! This seems to be what you're good at. Bashing your business? No, I'm informing others of your flakiness, unreliableness, poor communication and now, EXCUSES! And the damage I'm talking about is what you caused, cracks all over my concrete, and now the newly poured is cracking. Warranty? Reviews can be changed! Opinions can be changed! But that takes effort on your part! Those lids you mentioned, $1000 steel road grade manhole covers? Are you serious? Why would I need those to walk on? The concrete ones you made are falling apart after walking on them. Once again, your work is failing. You agreed to make them, for a price, now complain? If you couldn't make them, that would work, then say so! Don't offer to make something inferior. You offered a service for a price, you agreed, and now complaining about giving a discount? Yah yah yah, okay, you can claim whatever you want, but, you agreed to a price... Here are my pictures, all the gray concrete with cracks? That huge chunk of color patched? That's all you buddy! Communicate, follow through and make this a great review, crap happens, just take care of it! UPDATE: your excuses are pathetic! You keep going on about lids. HAHAHA Manual says he never did work for me? That's funny! YES HE DID!! I'll even attach some of the cracks that have now appeared! Maybe a screenshot of our conversation? Communication buddy! That's all that is needed! You have failed at that and now your craftsmanship! Got cracks and YOU failed to repair what you damaged! SIDE NOTE: Just like "Dougs" review, I can attest to manuals flakeyness! He flaked on my father not once, but twice! Then my brother! Made appointments, different days and never showed or called! He must be rich, as bidding and securing new work is not his norm. Seems like being a FLAKE is his norm! AND THOSE CRACKS ARE ON THE PAD, not just the lids he made! read more

I needed driveway repaired post new sewer line installed. Manual did a beautiful job. He explained thoroughly what, when and how he was going to do the job. The timeline was tough as the weather played a huge factor, but he kept in contact and all went very well. The repair fits with the existing color and matched up well on existing pieces. The crew power washed the concrete, added the darker stain to the bands, and then applied a sealer. We absolutely love it. Once again Herrada's Concrete knocked it out of the park. I got several quotes on Yelp beforehand. Most didn't get back to me, and those that did were way overpriced. J Garcia Concrete is very reasonable with their quotes, and I feel like I paid a fair price for the project. I absolutely love my new concrete patio!! It's so nice to walk on a brand new surface that will last many years. If I ever need a concrete company in the future, I know who to hire! I will post pics when I get my patio set up. The concrete turned out fantastic and he was able to give the concrete a slight slant for water to collect at our drain. We wouldve liked to give him 5 stars, but there were some communication issues that led to one of our dogs running out the gate when one of us workers didnt properly close the gate. We have 2 gates and they were both left open. For future customers, just make sure to be clear and double check communication with him. Otherwise, his work is good and he knows his stuff

Work is solid (he has a great crew that works with him). Pricing is fair. Angel is responsive and reasonable. Angel made sure to complete our projects exactly as detailed in our contract. Overall happy with the quality of work Angel and his team were able to provide.

Medina's Masonry - 916-583-2169…read more I was expecting the brick team at 0800. They weren't there. They actually all showed up at 0745. By 0800, the gear was unloaded and the team was in full-on work mode. I do a lot of DIY jobs with crews. After a half hour, a huge worry burden was lifted off my shoulders. This has never happened to me before. I had a very large brick wall repair job. Luis and his team were a well-oiled machine. Each knew their job (all experts), and the work hummed along--busy, busy, busy. Literally no screwing around or fun time. I was unconditionally amazed and thankful. The job was completed earlier than expected, and not only were no shortcuts taken, they did more than we agreed upon. All debris was picked up and put in the trash. The area was washed down. The cleanup job was impeccable. You would have never known they were there, except for the beautiful work they left behind. Lastly, I took five bids. This company was not the cheapest, but it was far from the most expensive. I cash-tipped each worker for a job well done--impeccable. I was so impressed with Medina's Masonry that I'm having the team redo my driveway next weekend. Seriously, do not look elsewhere. For real. Use them and thank me later.
