On a Sunday. Before the 4th of July. With these stars aligned, I called Weilhammer Plumbing. He picked up his phone at home while hosting family and was cleaning up. Not only did he clearly explain the issue (not an emergency, even though my wallet wouldn't stop shrieking), he gave us instructions on what to do to avoid further leakage. He said he'd come by the day before his vacation, but if he couldn't get to us, he'd refer us out. Then we laid hands of the thing and made it 10x worse. I sent pictures as he asked and told him the situation. He called me immediately to walk us through fixing our mistake. He did not refer us out, he came the next morning. He was no nonsense, low maintenance, quick and honest. He quoted me over the phone, stayed below the top range of the quote and was kind enough to say, go ahead and call around. No, sir, you've already won my business. I did check with a neighbor but she had the work done almost 10 years ago. He did the job for the same price. Inflation who?! He was in and out in about 2 hours, no issues, explained the new system, replaced the heater and some other things that were destined to cause heartbreak and panic in the future. Can't recommend enough. Thank you!

Early the next morning, I had a message from Adam B. Once I got to work, I returned the call and quickly described my issue and what I believed it to be. The first available appointment wasn't until Monday (it wasn't urgent, so I wasn't worried about going the weekend). I got my timeframe. I had a couple other appointments that day, so I ended up taking the day off so I could easily be available. I immediately liked that they told me who would be arriving - AND that was who arrived. I also liked that they use a customer portal that allows you to have some security if you pay online or to review your records. Christian arrived (there was one other person with him). It took him a couple minutes to diagnose the issue he believed it to be, and it took him not a lot longer to determine that diagnosis correct. He quoted the price, I agreed, and he got to work. After finishing the work, he determined the original issue I'd believed it to be wasn't quite needing to be addressed (but will be in the near future). We discussed options, including ways I could save a bit. Christian was personable and explained things in a way I could understand. The issue was likely caused by me, but he managed to avoid using the word "idiot" at any point. The repair was done in a timely manner. The price ended up being a bit lower than quoted. I appreciated his honesty as he very easily could have pointed me toward a repair not needing done yet. It also became obvious the last person I'd used had really only done half the job. Everything has worked beautifully since Christian finished. There are likely a couple more projects I'll tackle in the near future, and I won't hesitate to return to Grateful Plumber. The housecall was $59, but that was credited toward the repair once I decided to have them do the work. Friendly employees. Good follow-through. Fair pricing. Quality work. Problem solved. That's 5-star for me and another winner for Yelp's project feature.

Meanwhile late in the day someone from my Dad's church volunteered to come and look at the issue. The issue is fixed. I called the grateful plumber as soon as I had a chance , because of everything that is going on. I left a message and cancelled the appointment then I get a text that their service guy is on his way. I called back and talked with the owner I'm assuming and he said he is charging us a service fee anyway. That it was too late to call off his guys and that they had been holding this spot for me. Terrible customer service and interaction.

The furnace tech diagnosed the furnace as needing at least a new control board and couldn't be sure other parts weren't bad. The furnace was full of ice. Everyone from Chapman was clean, courteous and did great work. It wasn't cheap for any of this, but we feel that the prices were reasonable, especially since we were 100% done the very next day.

This time around, I've gotten the chance to try out Chapman to address some electrical issues in the house. Truthfully, I wasn't aware that Chapman handled electrical. I'd begun having some significant electrical issues a couple weeks before Thanksgiving. I called another company that I'd used for a smaller project with good results. They came over and did some minor adjustments, however, they noted there were significant issues and planned to send me an estimate. They did let me know this "fix" was more like a band-aid and the significant work was inevitable. It was less than a day when the "band-aid" stopped working. I waited a bit anticipating their estimate, though also disappointed that they'd done such a weak fix. Finally, things got WAY worse. It was shortly before Thanksgiving and the situation was urgent. I left a message for Chapman anticipating that I was likely out of luck for the holiday weekend. My general sense was that was their plan, too. However, I think the rep (I believe her name was Hannah) heard the panic in my voice and I explained my situation. She arranged for a technician to visit the house the next day. This tech did agree that the issue was serious and warranted a few major repairs. He explained it well and explained my options. To be honest, I'm usually quite cheap. However, when he gave me two options I went with the more expensive option as I really wanted to make sure the fix was done properly. I was tired of band-aids. They used my initial service call as a down payment and the electrician, Rodney as I recall, scheduled it and made sure he would be the electrician for the project (NOTE: In reality, this ended up being a 2-3 person job). The only slight hiccup was that I'd been told they'd arrive at 8am. In reality, I called them at 10am and learned they were having trouble finding one needed part. That was fine, though I should have been called. Around 11:15, and somewhat surprisingly, they arrived and dug in. Seven hours later? They were done. I was particularly touched by a neat gesture - I'm a wheelchair user. In their estimate, the electrician had written that he'd be putting my new panel in at wheelchair height. This wasn't something I asked for particularly, however, it was a pretty cool gesture recognizing my needs. Rodney explained everything and was entirely work focused. He completed the work as promised and the cost was exactly as quoted. He explained a couple other concerns - including one that wouldn't be a Chapman issue, however, he explained how it could impact the electric. I've now had Chapman work on my furnace and my electric. Are they more expensive? Yeah, I'd say so. If you're looking for a budget electrician, Chapman probably isn't that. However, in all three visits the work has been done and done well. They've avoided band-aids and actually fixed issues. Their quotes have been accurate. The employees have been professional. With the exception of today's tardiness, the experiences have all been impeccable. Truthfully, I should have likely called Chapman first. While I may not call them for smaller issues, the truth is for me it's worth a bit more to get the work done right. The work is warrantied and I now have a system that should last for years and is also accessible. That other company? I still don't have their estimate. Chapman wins.

They are very friendly and the technicians are very professional however. We used them to do electrical wiring for our basement, it was two new breakers to install three light switches and a dozen led light boxes, just under 7k. They were supposed to do plumbing of a bathroom sewage pump, valve for a softener to drain, and shower install with a rough out for a sink, 9k. They miss-scheduled the appointment for plumbing and instead of just saying oops let's fix that they spent their time telling me I scheduled Monday and Tuesday and it's a two day appointment so that's why I am receiving multiple reminders for my appointment on Monday and Tuesday to start, despite my repeating it is Tuesday and Wednesday because I would not be home on Monday as I told the tech who did the estimate. The electrical part they would not take payment for until they finished the job despite my request to pay as they go. Since it requires the plumbing team to finish first they said they would come back when their plumbers finished, still daily texts and calls to schedule the final electrical which according to their tech couldn't be done until the plumbing THEY were scheduled to do. Their AI based system is terrible. Their work is quality and their human customer service team is frustrating but friendly. We canceled the plumbing and now will cancel the finish work for electric as well. Too expensive to justify these annoyances in my opinion. We were convinced to buy their service plan for our ac and electric, not sure what that really gives us but we won't be using it now anyway. I'd caution anyone from using them without a few estimates first.

We live in an old house, so it sadly came with the territory and we had to hire their services for repairs that were beyond our skill level. Our trust with them came to a screeching halt when the time came that I needed to speak with management. We've had an almost 3-year HVAC issue, where five different technicians kept doing leak searches (and charged us for all of them) with no offers for long-term solutions. After my initial call to hopefully address this, it took about a week for them to send me a text offering the minimum possible resolution without even speaking to me. Conveniently, the call-back number they sent didn't work, either. It just goes to show that their management doesn't have the professionalism or courage to have actual conversations with loyal customers. They all hide behind the veil of their customer experience team who unfortunately don't make the decisions. I've never been so relieved to move on from a company whose leadership doesn't value their members.

Immediately I pulled out my big book of major appliance receipts/warranties and found out that my current hot water heater had been installed in September of 1996 - so my assumption was that those weird noises that woke me up in the middle of the night on Thursday were the death throes of my water heater. Fast forward to Monday 11/11/19 when I was up bright and early to get some quotes for a new hot water heater. My first call was to B & W Plumbing who had installed the previous water heater when my parents owned the home. I explained the situation and asked for a phone quote which they were happy to provide. For a new hot water heater (the same Bradford/White 30 gallon lowboy electric water heater I currently had) the bill would be approximately $1,500+!!! Granted I know things have gone up in price but the total bill for the water heater, parts and labor in 1996 was $351.56. Thinking their quote was way too high I thanked them and decided to get a quote from a general contractor I had used previously for some carpentry work on my home. My next call was to Paul Walker of Unlimited Solutions. Since he didn't pick up I assumed he was busy on a job so I left him a message explaining the situation and told him it was a bit time sensitive as one likes to be able to shower, etc. right? He called me back pretty quickly, explained he was indeed out on a job but he would be able to stop by late afternoon or early evening to look at the water heater, take some measurements and get an idea of what needed to be done so he could crunch some numbers and get me a quote ASAP. Due to the time of day and holiday hours for some folks he said he would probably be Tuesday morning before he could get a quote together. Tuesday mid-morning Paul called with a quote for the water heater, parts and installation that was approximately half the price B & W quoted. In an effort to get me the best price possible he suggested we go with an A. O. Smith unit. So with my verbal agreement he went to pick up the water heater only to find out after measuring it in person that it was too tall to fit in my enclosure. Fortunately I had already found a local contractor supply house that carried the Bradford/White units (only available through authorized distributors) so when Paul called with the update about the other unit being too tall I was able to give him their contact information and my okay for a $100 price increase to his original quote. Paul called them immediately and was told that they had the correct unit. So he called me back with the good news that they had the unit and he was heading to the NW side of Indianapolis to pick it up and assured me that there was still have enough time to get the new water heater installed that day...yes!! Unfortunately, when he arrived at the supply house he was told that the unit he had come to pick up was actually located in Bloomington, Indiana and they couldn't get it to Indianapolis until Friday!!!!! Needless to say I wasn't pleased with that news especially since the alternative unit ended up not working out increasing the job price. However, I did understand that he was trying to save me money by proposing an alternative unit. Now finding out that I was going to have to wait until Friday ---- a full week after I had the failed shower experience ---- made me a very unhappy camper. Being very customer-service focused Paul volunteered to drive to Bloomington this morning (11/13/19) to pick it up so he could get it installed only a day later than first promised --- that is going above and beyond in my opinion. And even with the slight price bump it was still a much more reasonably priced job estimate that B & W Plumbing's especially considering I have the same length warranty. Fingers crossed that this new Bradford/White hot water heater lasts as long as my last one did.

Im talking Tom Brady down 28-3 in the SuperBowl. Hall of fame performance from Juan and Terry both. He cut as soft as possible so the jewelry wouldn't fall down. They shined a light and could see it in the pipe. It was so close to the drop! I'm talking 2 inches away from falling over a cliff.
