I suffer from back pain and at the recommendation of my primary doctor, started going to Rush PT…read more I assumed that they were part of the Rush hospital system. But after reviewing the Yelp, i now realize it is actually some company called "Novacare". For the last 2 months, I have been going here once a week. The facility is very small and cramped, the equipment is a bit bare. But the main problem is that there is only 1 or 2 actual Physical Therapists in the office at a time, while there are 3-5 patients scheduled for the same time. Each session is about 50-60 minutes long. But the actual time with the PT is really about 15 minutes (as Gina F mentioned in her review). The PT shows you the exercise movements about 2-3 times, then has you do 2-3 reps, makes some corrections, tells you to do 2-3 more sets by yourself, and then wanders off to work with another patient or to type something in the computer without really paying any attention to you. If the PT had already shown you an exercise before, she may just hand you off to a Student/Intern and have them run through the exercise with you. But again, the student also is not paying any attention to you while doing the exercise and is instead busy chatting with each other. Ultimately, my time ended when the PT said, she didn't think PT was working for me. Sometimes, I would realize later that I was doing the exercise wrong a few sessions later, when the actual PT showed it to me again. But I do admit, I didn't do my home exercises everyday, but only 3-4 days a week at home. Conclusion, - I would recommend you look for a better office that has more space so patients don't bump into each other. I would also recommend a PT office that offers One on One PT to patient services instead. I will be trying a different PT office and see if that is more helpful.

This is place a factory, with several patients going at once in the small space. I suspect the…read moreoutput of the factory is invoices, not care. The conditions I sought care for were unresolved, and I ended up with a massive bill for working 10-15 minutes with a PT and 45 minutes with a student. Fun fact: I'd been going for weeks before they realized my "plan" wasn't even in the computer. Then how were you reviewing and adjusting? My symptoms did not improve, but worsened, and after 12 visits I stopped going and doing the "exercises". It took about 2 months, but eventually the pains caused by following their care went away for the most part (resurfaces on the treadmill but at least it's no longer daily), as did one of the 2 concerns I came in for (lower back better, but tip of tailbone will probably take a while) . Over Thanksgiving I was visiting family out of state and my brother, a brilliant physical therapist, asked how my PT was going. He was surprised when I told him about the assigned exercises, which he didn't think were addressing the issue, and stunned to learn that after their care caused pain in my hips, they kept having me do exercises that exacerbated that pain and performed no adjustments. This isn't Rush caliber care. Perhaps they lack adequate experience, but I'm not prepared to pay for the learning curve. I went back to the gym and definitely avoiding this place. Just got my bill (last visit in November) and the charges are outrageous. $330-400 per visit to mostly do ineffective exercises with a student. I tried to call the billing dept and negotiate the bill down since the service was ineffective and actually did harm, but they refused. 2 stars because the people at this location are nice and probably did their best.

The entire experience at Athletico in Lincoln Square was unpleasant and felt like a scam. I had…read moreinjured my shoulder and sought physical therapy. My insurance company steered me towards Athletico. I completed their online enrollment in advance and arrived to my appointment 15 minutes early. From the first interaction, it was tense and unfriendly. The front desk person hands me a clipboard with a stack of papers and says "you didn't do your required paperwork in advance." I pointed out that I had and even commented the two online forms were remarkably similar to each other. She replies, rather tersely, "you didn't do it so now you have to fill these out." At this point, I'm offended that it's assumed I didn't do the paperwork so I repeat, "I did submit these - in fact I can tell you what most of the questions were" which was interrupted with "well I don't have it so do it again. But I'm telling you you didn't do it. " Not the best first impression. Meeting with the physical therapist could best be described as generic and useless. He never referred to the paperwork I filled out (twice since they lost my original submission) and instead proceeded to spend the first part of the session asking me why I was coming in (which was the purpose of the forms, I thought). Then he proceeded to explain their scheme which requires 3-4 visits a week for several months and it all felt like a high pressure sales pitch. The actual PT time was barely 10 minutes. Then I was asked to put down a $500+ deposit since they didn't know what insurance would cover. When I inquired if this was necessary only then did they tell me we could wait until insurance cleared. I was also pressured to schedule multiple sessions without clearly understanding the actual necessary care path . Needless to say, I cancelled all my sessions and did not go back. I ended up at another neighborhood PT who was excellent, actually focused holistically on my care, didn't require huge deposits, repeat paperwork, or rely on pressured sales tactics. I cannot recommend strongly enough to avoid this location - or maybe Athletico as a whole. This chain, churn and burn model is likely the root of these issues.

I am also a remote worker, so being a keyboard warrior isn't doing me any favors. Neither are my long gaming sessions, but a gal's gotta have some fun. What can I say? Every time I've come in, I leave far better than when I entered. Dr. McTague has been the best. (I'm sure other providers here provide excellent care as well.) It's almost hilarious that my response to "how did this happen" is "me simply existing" & he just gets it. But I'm happy to report that I'm back to a maintenance level of care & more often than not, pain-free. If you're prone to sleeping weird & waking up unable to turn your neck, come here. It also must be said, their massage therapists are absolute sorcerers. Ken, JJ, & everyone do amazing work. I've had to sit in my car for a few minutes after to come back to earth after a session. It's ugly-cry worthy because you feel so much better. The front desk? Accommodating & friendly. If you find yourself aching & sore, this is the place to visit.
