Gang kiew wan, green curry with chicken.

Baan Thai perfectly satisfied that craving I've been having for authentic Thai food at a reasonable price. Located in an easy-to-access strip, it's small inside with an open kitchen design I haven't seen before in any Thai or other Asian-cuisine restaurants. While apparently open for dine-in, the restaurant was empty when I came to pick up my takeout order on a Monday night. On order was a starter of their vegetarian fresh rolls, an order of pad thai with tofu, gang kiew wan (green chicken curry), and larb gai. The fresh rolls were simply made and bursting with their namesake freshness. You definitely need to dip them into the accompanying peanut sauce as they're otherwise unseasoned, but an excellent example of a light, delicious appetizer. The pad thai (which had some extra veggies added by request) was terrific, and a very large portion to boot. The green chicken curry was creamy, spicy, salty, and overall my favorite dish of the evening. Served over perfectly-cooked jasmine rice, it really hit the spot. The larb gai was serviceable, though the chicken tasted suspiciously like canned chicken I've had; perfectly edible, but not something I'd seek out for use in larb. Luckily, it was only around $7 and more of an appetizer-size portion so it was fine overall. The total came to under $40 for several meals worth of food, and the chef (and I'm assuming owner) was brusque but nice enough when I picked the food up. I'll definitely be trying their local Thai restaurant competition, but I know for sure I'll be coming back.

Service is great and food is great Got the green curry and it was a very generous portion and delicious!

I've eaten here twice. I've tried two different appetizers and two different lunch entrees. Food is very appealing to the eye, fresh, and good. I did find both times the waitress to be friendly and helpful, however service is slow. They are understaffed as she is running food orders and to tables plus doing take out. That is why I have to give only 4 stars. If they improve service and add help I'd be happy to update my review.

The yelp reviews were right! I found this place on yelp and WOW I AM STUNNED! Very clean new building with an intimate but quiet setting, the owner greets you personally and in many cases is your server. He is amazingly friendly, and recommended some great dishes. Oh and the food was INCREDIBLE! I couldn't wolf my meal down quick enough! I got a delicious soup; tom kha and masaman curry. You need to check this place out!

Pad King with beef (left) and Pra Ram Long Song (right; definitely our favorite!)

The ambiance is super upbeat and lively. It can be busy, and there can be a wait depending on how busy it is. Though, it is worth it! I ordered the staple, chicken pad Thai!!! Spice level #4! BBQ - Steaks - Diner Food - Fried Chicken - Cheeseburger and so on and so forth. Last night we went "Ethnic" and by ethnic I'm calling our Thai food dinner exactly that. So, Suwana's Thai Orchard makes lovely authentic Thai food; and for a southern state that's a huge compliment. We ordered (for take out): * Thai Chicken Wings - Fried and Glazed w/House Spicy Chill Sauce which were very good * Thai Fried Rice - Stir Fried Rice w /Egg, Tomato, Carrot, Scallion and chicken was great * Papaya Salad - with Green Papaya, Carrot, Tomato, Green Bean, Garlic, Calamari, Shrimp w/Chili Lime Dressing and Crushed Peanuts - also good * Yellow Chicken Curry - Coconut Milk, Thai Yellow Curry Paste, Potato, Onion Carrot, Tomato - thumbs up * We had one more undefinable dish that was the best of them all. Suwana's was quite good and I would definitely come back!

I was never all that impressed with food trucks until moving here to Asheville. Given the…read morecomplementary relationship with the many craft breweries that don't do food themselves, plus all the local outdoor events for 9 months of the year, there are some truly great food trucks based here. Cassia is definitely one of the top ones. This is some of the best and most original Thai food I've ever had. They are a regular at Cellarest Beer Project in West Asheville. The food is prepared fresh, but the wait is not too long. And if you sit in the right spot, you may be able to enjoy the fragrant scent of Thai food as it is being prepared in their mobile kitchen. We started with the Firecracker sweet potatoes. These amazing little jewels are mashed sweet potatoes wrapped in the same coating as you'd normally have with a spring roll or won ton. They had a wonderful crispy outside with a flavorful sweet potato mash inside. The spicy mayo dipping sauce was excellent, but we also loved dipping these into the golden curry sauce that came with our curry duck. Where do you ever see curry duck BTW? The duck was cooked perfectly and not at all grisly or chewy. The curry sauce was absolutely incredible. Great flavor along with a nice kick. Between eating the duck and jasmine rice with the curry sauce and dipping some of the Firecrackers in it, there was literally not a speck of curry sauce left behind. We also had chicken Laab Gai. The mint leaves in this were really tasty and not overwhelmingly minty. The sticky rice was good. These came with cabbage leaves that you can roll the meat and rice up in to create a sort of Thai taco. This was good, but not at the same level as the duck curry. Maybe a bit more sauce would help. Prices are restaurant level but well worth it given this is restaurant-quality food or better. We paired the food with two fine beers from Cellarest. The Czech-style Moonglade Tmave pivo had great character. The Weald Oktoberfest Marzen lager was also excellent. Both went very well with the Thai food. Apart from maybe the dead of winter, this will be a place we go back to for more great Thai food.

Our server was very friendly and service was very prompt! My family got the Lo Mein with Chicken, Chow Fun with Beef, Sautéed String Bean, Buddha Bean Curd Rolls, Crystal Shrimp Dumplings, and Spicy Chicken. I loved the Crystal Shrimp Dumplings! The wrapper was very tender and the shrimp filling was delicious. It tasted very authentic to me. I also loved the Sautéed String Bean as it had the right amount of garlicky sauce. The Lo Mein was made with thinner than usual noodles but still tasted good. I think the Chow Fun tasted a bit off. It kind of tasted a bit sweet and like drunken noodles at some points as opposed to the traditional smoky flavor that the dish has. The rice noodles that were used were also thin as opposed to the usual wider noodles. As for the Spicy Chicken, it tasted solid. I liked the slight crisp before biting into each piece and it was not really spicy. I definitely tasted the cumin (I am not a super big fan of), which is a popular flavor found in Szechuan cuisine. Overall, I think this is a nice spot for some Chinese food, especially being near the mountains which is more isolated. I would probably rate it a 3.75/5 stars if I could. I wish chicken feet were part of their dim sum menu (it is pretty small and there are no rolling carts in case anyone is wondering). I do think some flavors of the food I tasted seem to cater a bit more to the Western taste palate (my parents agree as well), but I enjoyed my time here.
